When I was small I chose to be
A child of God, inspired and free
I’ve loved the Lord my whole life through
My faith in God’s been tried and true.
I’ve prayed so hard that I might find
A key that would one day unwind
The path to peace and heaven’s gate
Dear Lord, I hope it’s not too late !
What is this madness that we face
That’s taking up our total space
There is great danger spreading here
A danger that we all must fear.
Beware, because the Devil’s come
He is destroying everyone
This is a warning that’s come late
When ever will this hate abate ?
Oh Blessed Lord, we beg You please
Observe Your children on their knees
Reach out to all who are in pain
To save them from this world insane !
Slowly the gathering dusk fills each hall
As shades of eventide begin night’s call
The darkness moves forward to welcome night
As heavy shadows cower every light.
There’s a sound in the passage you can hear
The echo of shuffles seeming so clear
With a cumbersome yawn, fall into bed
And pull all your covers over your head !
The tide flows in all swift and fleet
And almost knocks me off my feet
The water moves at a quick pace
And comes and goes with ne’er a trace
It makes no sound as it moves on
But silent, seeks its echelon.
For all we know, what do we see
One’s vision of sobriety
Hold on, hold on, do not let go
God’s beside us, this is His show !
Where is the caution that we need
Like all the rules that we must heed
What’s happened to our sanity
Now drowning in profanity ?
Take care, my dear, we’ve just begun
The journey’s long and void of fun
Make sure that you do not lose sight
Of all the tremors of the night.
Remember when the fog rolls in
That each accepts his own chagrin
There is no cover one may choose
The answer is we all do lose !
There is this sadness in my heart
That years ago had its small start
When I was young and chose to be
The backbone of my family.
Though times were hard and cupboards bare
Our crippled world was forced to share
We wasted not nor did we slack
But strove to take our nation back.
Who thought that we would once again
Return to those ” remember when ” ?
Oh Blessed Lord, be with us here
To save us from this clutch of fear !
See all the shining rooftops glistening
While to these raindrops we are listening
For pitter – patter as they splash their way
Across our window panes so grim and gray.
Tis one more wet and windy springtime rain
That’s come today to visit all again
Oh dancing sprinkles will you help us grow
A harvest crop we can be proud to show ?
There is a world that waits for me
Somewhere across God’s great blue sea
A place where anger can’t exist
And only kindness does persist.
But I’m not sure if I can wait
To make the journey to that Gate
Because my world is falling down
And crushing kindness to the ground.
What shall I do, how can this be
Is this the new heredity ?
Oh Gracious Lord, remember me
For only You can set me free !
There is this joy that mornings bring
The song of birds upon the wing
Their voices calling to their kin
An early morning checking in.
They chirp and croon familiar tunes
From breaking dawn through afternoons
Making each creature here belong
Though some are frail yet others strong
How wonderful that God’s so wise
He’s made His Own Bird Paradise !
I hear the sound of running feet
Laughter of children from the street
All playing on the pavement wide
Darting about from side to side.
Their shrieks of glee are full of joy
Including every girl and boy
Oh such great fun that’s to be had
Without scoldings by Mom and Dad.
I love to see the youngsters play
In God’s fresh air day after day
What a sweet pleasure it would be
If all the world could feel that free !
What would You do to save us from
The storm we know is soon to come
How will You guard us, help us rise
Above this hell that’s in disguise ?
We need You now, teach us to care
That we may all Your wisdom share !
When I am gone the same wind will blow
The sun will shine and the stars will glow
It matters not what the night will do
Since I am gone and can’t be with you.
But you must keep on just as you should
With all of your dreams faithful and good
Remembering me if you so choose
Whether you win or whether you lose.
And if you forget, that’s okay too
The world still moves on, that much is true
I want you to be pleased with your life
Happy in love and minus the strife.
May God bless you and keep you secure
Loving and healthy, honest and sure !
Well here we are, alone at last
Into the sea of life we’ve cast
Seeking solutions in our quest
Whilst reaching out to find the best.
May God Himself direct our thought
To teachings old and lessons taught
Let kindness and a gentle heart
In all directions be our start.
Please guide us to eternal peace
Where anger, hate and trouble cease
And God and man begin anew
To relish all the good we do !
Each day begins with shades of gray
Before sky blue decides to stay
The clouds are neat all in a row
They start to gather, come and go
And fill the heavens with their fluff
We never seem to get enough.
Oh how I wish that I might see
Angels hop-scotching over me
I’d laugh and giggle right out loud
I do believe we’d have a crowd.
But just for now I promise you
I’d offer God a huge ” thank You ” !
I’d like to spend my time imagining
What life is all about and reason why
The Lord decided it was smart planning
And gave us choices to help make us try !
My eyes are full of wonder
My heart so wild with glee
What is this spell I’m under
How does it affect me ?
I’m a child who loves my God
And wishing all I could
That most lives are not that hard
And mercy’s understood !

What is it we are waiting for
The peace of God to use our door,
To enter in and take the space
Reserved for His Eternal Grace ?
How can it be this world’s destroyed
And of all fairness, now devoid
While angels weep and rain their tears
Upon this place, too full of fears ?
Where do we turn to reach You, Lord
That we may be of one accord
Oh, dearest God please help us find
The path that to Your Heart unwinds !
I ask You, Lord, to comfort me
While this old world is still not free
Give each a turn to stand up tall
Before the times wherein we fall.
Show us the mercy that You gave
To all the Saints that You have saved
And grant us peace ere we must die
Without a fragile last goodbye !
Oh blessed Lord, accept my plea
Grant me the strength to set me free
Open my eyes that I may see
The love and care You’ve offered me.
I am Your servant meek and mild
Your aged and obedient child
I give to You all I possess
My dreams and hopes, my happiness !
Out of the quiet of the hour
Tis now the time for peace to flower
When angels rest the air turns still
So hope may shine upon yon hill
Thus power rests in present thought
Of all the lessons life has taught.
We need replace man’s lack of love
With kindness shared from God above,
Take heart and dream what life’s about
And learn to live with faith devout !
What madness has pursued us here
Instilling each one’s greatest fear
Of life and limb or illness known
That by the air is being sown ?
What must we do to save our world
From all this grief that has been hurled ?
My gratitude, dear God above
I am surrounded by true love
My fate’s been sealed and is secure
There’s no escape, of this I’m sure
The time grows late, what else is left
Too soon it is, the world’s bereft !
There remains certain moments we encounter every day
When we are at our leisure and the world’s prepared to pray
Aft the silence has been broken and eventide occurs
And times spent all together aren’t his or aren’t hers .
When all our simple pleasures are aligned there side by side
And the honeymoon is over without some silly pride
May the Good Lord take the measure of tasks already done
Guaranteeing life’s diversion twist happiness and fun !
THANX TO SECOND CHANCES
Help me share this moment of fear
Of chaos, of loss with a tear
I’m caught in a net of sadness
Lost in the spin of its madness
Seeming so empty and tragic
Here in the twist of life’s magic !
Now I have dreamt a dream or two
And spent a lifetime loving you
I’ve prayed and hoped we two would be
Together through eternity !
Do you hear the children hard at play
On this idyllic autumnal day
Happy voices raised, so full of glee
Charming the likes of both you and me !
Tis sad the problem we now face
As members of the human race
The pestilence has taken hold
Of world wide fear, exceeding bold
To cover all the good and kind
That we’d the power here to find.
So simple when we understand
That life is ruled by God’s command
Accept His judgement every day
His sense of justice and fair play !
Celestial bodies in the sky
All flash and wink in passing by
I wonder if they query why
No other objects fly so high !
