The summer wind, the evening breeze
The tender rush of rustling leaves
The final blush of daylight’s sun
Before the twilight has begun
These are the presages of night
Arriving there when all’s starbright !
The summer wind, the evening breeze
The tender rush of rustling leaves
The final blush of daylight’s sun
Before the twilight has begun
These are the presages of night
Arriving there when all’s starbright !
The morning dew is like a mist
That patient waits for sunlight’s kiss
Then disappears into the air
As if none saw that it were there.
The quiet calm of early dawn
Too soon becomes another morn
There join the world in disarray
And carry all our dreams astray !
I do believe that most try hard
To keep their faith and honor God
But stuff keeps getting in the way
It seems to happen every day.
We need a plan to get us through
To teach us all what we must do
Dear Lord above we need You now
Whom else is there to show us how ?
Oh how I wish that I could be
A cherry on a cherry tree
I’d wear a gown of frothy pink
As early spring was on the brink
Rains soon would flush my garb away
Uncovering my round display
While time and warmth help me to grow
Soon all my cherry colors glow
And so, my friends when birds arrive
It takes some effort to survive
I’ll make it through to harvest time
Now isn’t that sweet and sublime
Please tell me after you’ve seen me
Am I a top notch bing cherry ?
At times I find myself uptight
Caught in a terror of the night
I cannot rest or close my eyes
Recapturing sweet sleep’s reprise.
The angels have deserted me
My world is wrapt in apathy
There is no answer to be found
Help me to turn the mood around !
Have you seen the trouble we are in
Our world’s tilted and in a spin
We’re upside down, we’ve lost our way
There’s nothing left for us to say.
We are not what we used to be
Our freedom is no longer free
The world we’ve known has disappeared
Transformed by lies and avid fear !
There is so much that I need say
Before it’s time to go away
To indicate just how I feel
With passions that are strong and real.
At times I’m sure I cannot win
The odds are stacked ere I begin
Please help me Lord make dreams come true
Grant me the strength to follow you !
There is this tale that we’ve been fed
That often shows or rapid goes
Sometimes it rushes to the head
Or travels down into the toes
It is a hope for all the joys
That everyone’s been sending
So full of care for girls and boys
Wishing all a happy ending !
Three words resound upon my ears
And play a role deflecting fears
They lend me strength beyond my years
And help me to absorb life’s tears !
At times I find I’m in a bind
That life has been unfair, unkind
I’m hopeful as new days unwind
There is some justice left to find !
What is this hell that men call war
What is it they are fighting for
They’ve wasted so much blood and gore
We’ve known it all and want no more !
There is a door, where does it go
The truth is that I do not know
There is a place beyond the stair
I do not care how it got there.
What is it looms behind that door
The one that all are searching for
How will I know what we will share
I have no fear, God will be there !
Oh Lord sometimes I find I cannot bear
This useless pain I suffer everywhere
I’ve searched so hard to find another way
To force this endless ache to fade away.
My strength is gone and my courage got lost
As I feel myself in a tempest tossed
Dear Lord, what shall I do to set me free
Help me to score this last small victory !
EXCUSE ME but I have just returned home from another one of my medical adventures which are becoming more frequent as time passes. I am impelled to applaud many of the professionals who take their ER duty to the Nth degree ! There’s Danielle who daily travels from south Jersey to Hoboken regardless of traffic or weather. Or Joy, who moves around helping the patients attached to varied drips or machines reach the facilities or get a food tray or liquids, or Ado as he endlessly smiles and tends the infirm. And Frank who constantly manoeuvers the beds from one area to another during his shift, never making a sound ! When you have at last secured your bed space in the proper department, with the helping angels, nurses, aides like Marichelle, Maria, Michele, Kathy, Paolo and many others with their stream of endless care. We even experienced a real fire emergency on the 2nd day ! There are myriads of other workers, laundry, cleaning, maintenance like Carmen or Billy on their toes and alert. And the doctors, Simon, Orbelyan, Lim or Krish on the floor moving from room to room. There are nurse managers like IJ overseeing procedures and needs. But my favorite is the Chaplain Marjorie who has words to bring peace to all, group prayer, sing-a-long hymns. She is the soft spoken disciple of God who utters kind words of comfort and reason ! God bless all and thank you for being there ! Sincerely, Claire B.
I miss the days of glory old
Where history and myth unfold
With repeat tales now long gone by
Of memories that did not die
When we were young and energized
And all our dreams seemed realised !
I often dream of many things
Like butterflies and fairy wings
Or cotton candy, oh so pink
The sunrise when it’s on the brink,
A baby’s laughter chiming in
My father’s face wrapped in a grin
Those yesterdays that we forget
New people that we haven’t met,
The brand new joys we mayhaps find
As all our destinies unwind !
The fog creeps in so silently
It slowly rises from the sea
The air is still with ne’er a breeze
There is no rustle in the trees.
I feel a chill upon my skin
What kind of chaos are we in
I cannot see in front of me
When will our world be trouble free ?
Hooray, hooray, I’m home today
This time let’s pray I’m here to stay
The road is long, the hill is steep
And I’ve a rendez-vous to keep.
I’m old and worn on my last leg,
Far too tired to try to beg
I’ve kept my eye upon the ball
Waiting to hear His final call.
The day is here, it’s on its way
But time and place no one can say
I thank you Lord for being there
Reminding me how much You care !
I’ve walked among the shadows that cloud our troubled days
And wondered how the angels escaped our human ways !
I’ve lately come to understand
That memories are ever grand
But only last a lifetime long
And to our history belong.
While words we place upon a page
Remain forever throughout age
With many lasting years and years
To heal our wounds, allay our fears.
We would not know about God’s word
If all those crowds had only heard
And scribes had then not set it down
For men to spread His words around !
There was a man who did “play ball”
Aft all the years most still recall
An icon who did make this game
The key to his unending fame.
A humble man of wit and length
So lank and lean and full of strength
A simple man and faithful too
The game seemed to be what he knew.
He gave his all it cost his life
Thank God he chose the proper wife
Tis sad that heroes oft die young
Long fore their praises will be sung !
I wish I were a child again
Returning to remember when
Those days gone by that I recall
When I was young and oh so small.
I never questioned for one time
That I was in some unsafe clime
I wish that I could do the same
For all those children I can’t name
Who need to seek the safety of
A world chock full of God’s true love !
The days are fleeting this I know
As dreams and heartaches come and go
The time is now to loose the chain
And learn to value faith again !
Of late the days all seem to fly
As leaves of time keep flashing by
There is so little I can grasp
I need a halt to take a gasp.
Sometimes I’m deaf and sometimes blind
I’m never sure what I shall find
How can my life just melt away
Without my having any say ?
I trust You Lord and know You care
That in my pain You will be there !
The drums of war beat hard and loud
All occasioned by an ugly crowd
No patriots to save the day
All in the hands of men who pay
Oh precious Lord, please hear our plea
And save our land from infamy !
Without faith there is nothing left but loneliness
Without God there is nothing more than emptiness !
It seems to me we need employ
The safest way to display joy
On our great nation’s holiday
From all of us Happy Birthday !
I know that I must move beyond
Those dreams of which I am so fond
To take my place among the rest
Of those who meant to give their best !
