Hallelujah, here they come, angels beating on their drum
Wishing all a happy day, waiting for the saints to play
Hear the voices sweetly sing, every single note a praise
Bringing joy to everyone, let us now our spirits raise !
Hallelujah, here they come, angels beating on their drum
Wishing all a happy day, waiting for the saints to play
Hear the voices sweetly sing, every single note a praise
Bringing joy to everyone, let us now our spirits raise !
For all the dreams that we have dreamt
And all the wishes we have sent
With all the hope that we can raise
And all the prayers full of great praise
May God above hear our just plea
And include us in His mercy !
Across the fields of No Man’s Land
The poet guides his magic hand
Describing all the feelings clear
Of incidents both far and near.
This is the place where freedom rings
While opportunity still sings,
Where each and everyone of all
Have heard the sound of caution’s call.
No matter what the future’s cost
Or if some dreams by chance get lost
We are the champions of all
And stand together or we fall !
Now once again into the breech
To learn the lessons life must teach
A change of pace or brusque reply
To say that we shall get on by.
Tomorrow’s not too far away.
Let’s ask the Lord we’d like to stay
And in these precious moments left
We’ll make our peace or are bereft !
Come dance with me, the moon is bright
Stars are alive, a wond’rous sight
The creatures in the meadows sleep
Filled with the sounds of nature deep
The world is ours for ages past
Let’s pray to God that it will last !
AMEN.
Sometimes love happens fast
And takes our breath aghast
Tis odd we should depend
On love to help one mend
For it is each who’ll chance
To gamble on romance.
How shall we make it clear
We hold this value dear
And live on borrowed time
With life wrapt up in rhyme !
My dearest friend, I miss you so
The depth far deeper than you know
The “used to be”, that is, once was
My heart was thrilled, my days abuzz.
I still recall with no regret
Too many hours we shan’t forget
The little which we understand
Of all that lies in our command
Our tender days that ought to be,
Got lost within diversity !
WRITTEN FROM THE CONFINES OF MY LITTLE CUBICLE IN
HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY HOPSPIAL, THANX TO MARYLOU
I treasure days just like today
To savor and to store away
Full of the warmth one dreams about
No fantasies chock full of doubt.
But life is never quite so clear
We cannot know when danger’s near
Or when we shall run out of time
And find ourselves deaf, dumb or blind.
The answer is to pull up tight
Tack on a smile, begin to fight
For planning is the proper way
To save each dream, from day to day !
Our world is made of fantasy
Of wishes, dreams and ecstasy
Of worry, hope and dignity
With many other traits you’ll see
Despite how we may try agree
We are awash and blind asea !
I often think the Lord is there
In every garden that we share
With odors that o’ercome the air
And seize upon our senses rare.
A garden is this magic place
In which God lends to us the grace
That brings a smile to each one’s face
Engulfing us in His embrace.
I wish that I could always be
Involved with such an entity
Like plant or flower, vine and tree
Within our Lord’s proximity !
Oh, man of little style and grace
Anxiety does line your face
Your life is filled with wasted aim
You try so hard to hide the shame.
It is your goal to one day be
Free of the chains of charity
Have patience and trust in the Lord
Seek help from God and get onboard !
The tender night reveals our fears
The falling rain does hide our tears
The silent breeze will calm our fright
While love of God safeguards each night !
I used to think that I was strong
And knew therewith where I belonged
How sad to learn fate flew away
Ne’er to return e’er aft that day.
So long ago, that distant past
How foolish to believe t’would last
For dreams will keep us warm at night
But vanish with the morning light !
Of all the joy which I have found
That laughs and weeps and will abound
And as emotions that astound
Too often seem to be compound
The love of God which is unbound
Fills all my days with peace surround !
Some memories of long ago
They are still here, they come and go
Without them, how could we move on
For sure, the meaning would be gone.
It’s odd, the thoughts that take us back
Remaining on the proper track
Remembering those days we knew
When all were safe and faith was too.
Opportunity winged on by
With no time left for second try
We’ll have to make the best of all
Because there is no curtain call !
There is a tale I wish to share
Bout teenaged feelings, love and care
There was a girl of but fifteen
He was a boy of just eighteen
Each Sunday sharing the church pew
Who can decide what each one knew ?
What was it they were thinking of
Because quite soon it looked like love
Though young and silly girls may be
Assured were both she cared for he
He was a lad, handsome and tall
In every way, he seemed her all.
On Sunday morn, dad passed the plate
She taught a class, they walked home late
Along the Boulevard they’d chat
They walked and talked of this and that
Soon the young man was her best friend
Perhaps with each their lives they’d spend.
Now at this time the world was sick
Young men fought wars in battles thick
That was the year her daddy died
When she felt so alone inside
So many issues war creates
Among those most when faith abates.
How could they know before that day
The war would filch their love away
Of all events that I have seen
And all the places I have been
Too precious now those days bygone
That their first love was based upon.
So sad the pain that war does bring
As all their dreams took flight and wing
Thus never to return that way
Not then or any other day
Too bad this story has no end
No memory nor any friend !
When I was young, my world brand new
There were so many things to do
So much to learn with time to share
With excess and enough to spare
Well, things have changed, it’s not the same
The world we knew now plays a game
I get discouraged, don’t you too
Have you decided what to do ?
It seems as though we have no choice
Until we learn to grow a voice !
AMEN.
Oh robin red, in your best suit
You loudly sing and look so cute
I wish I knew how to convey
The joy I’ve felt with you today.
You bring me hope the gloom can’t hide
The warmth I feel for you inside
Your perky song and boldened ways
Bring happiness to all my days !
The wind is in the willow,
………..A chill is in the breeze
The babes are in the nest and
…………Rest safely as you please !
Days come and go, they slip away
To morph into some yesterday
Where yesterdays forgotten lie
Reminding all of past goodbye.
Too sad that we cannot replace
Those memories of last embrace
As o’er the years of each regret
Somehow the pain we can’t forget.
Our vision dims, the picture fades
And we are here left with charades
That echo pain and misery
Of loving days that used to be !
Help me, oh Lord, to find the way
Back home to You at end of day
Give me the strength to carry on
When all my energy seems gone
Show me the path that leads to peace
Where all my pain at last will cease !
Dear Lord, I’m glad that you are there
To hear my ever constant prayer
My mother told me long ago
That when I asked, take care to know
Because You answer each request
With what You deem to be the best
The answer will be “yes” or “no”,
“Wait for a little while or so”
“Or give us something else instead”
That covers everything she said !
AMEN !
Some days the sun plays peek-a-boo with me
In and out, house to house, or tree to tree
Just when I think the sun is here to stay
How odd, that’s when it seems to slip away
Or hides behind a patch of clouds up high
Like some huge colony there in the sky.
I wonder how the clouds so quickly glide
And what I’d see if I could be inside
There are so many questions left to ask
It has become a never ending task !
From my front window I can see
The most exciting industry
All of God’s creatures hard at work
With not a single one who’ll shirk
How marvelous that it must be
Assured our God provides for thee.
Tis true that neither you nor I
Have the ability to fly
But we are charged by destiny
To help His creatures remain free
This has been so since ages past
Let’s help the system work to last !
Each day I rise with great surprise
To find the world before my eyes
I thank the Lord that I’m alive
And query how I still survive !
I’ve lived this life a long, long time
Indeed it’s been a tedious climb
At times I’ve thought I can’t go on
But rules are what life’s based upon !
Forgive me Lord for doubting You
What e’er You’ve taught, it is all true
I’ll carry on, I promise this
And know that life is not all bliss !
I’ve trod the road uncounted miles
And shed more than a million tears
While time evoked a thousand smiles
As life revealed a hundred fears.
I cannot know the why of it
From each angle life has displayed
I only know I hope to fit
Before all of my cards are played !
How I’d like to think we’re all the same
That we all possess the selfsame aim
That our instincts tell us what’s correct
And the principles we must expect,
That we live our lives in manner strong
In a place in which respect belongs,
That we honor truth and liberty
In a world wherein all men are free !
I had an uncle, sweet as he could be
My dad made him the guardian of me
He’d been a fighter in the first Great War
There in the trenches on a foreign shore
Heroic Marine in the fields of France
Who was mustard-gassed while on an advance.
He was a man possessed of great intent
Disposed to say precisely what he meant
I’ll ne’er forget him or the love he gave
Values he taught me I’ll take to the grave
I wonder now if he happens to be
A soldier in God’s heavenly army !
