What is this madness that we face
That’s taking up our total space
There is great danger spreading here
A danger that we all must fear.
Beware, because the Devil’s come
He is destroying everyone
This is a warning that’s come late
When ever will this hate abate ?
Oh Blessed Lord, we beg You please
Observe Your children on their knees
Reach out to all who are in pain
To save them from this world insane !
There is a madness in the air
I’m ever grateful I’m not there
What is it that these people seek
For all this havoc that they reek.
Our world is drowning all around
With anger that does most confound
If someone doesn’t take the lead
Responding with the proper speed
Who is it that will save this place
And our whole nation from disgrace ?
I’ve seen the troops in battle dress
They make me proud I must confess
I wish they were but dressing-up
To partake of sweet valour’s cup
Instead of battling someone’s cause
While fighting in these futile wars.
There is no break nor any end
The fracas leaves no untouched friend
There’s no peace found to fill the air
We’ve only distress everywhere.
The saddest part we must accept
We’ve done our job and are bereft !
The madness of war in which great battles were waged
Where brave men fought and died as their armies engaged
And those heroes who lived to the end of the day
Will fairly attest we need an alternate way.
But wars aren’t parried between equals as we
It’s usually twixt the enslaved and the free
Their combat continues while insanity reigns
Perhaps with our prayers we can salvage remains.
