There is a sound that I can hear
It seems to whisper in the ear
Is it the wind that steals about
With soft whispers and ne’er a shout ?
What must I do to make it clear
That God’s rebuke is all I fear ?
There is a sound that I can hear
It seems to whisper in the ear
Is it the wind that steals about
With soft whispers and ne’er a shout ?
What must I do to make it clear
That God’s rebuke is all I fear ?
We’re standing in a line where we must wait
Tis not a journey we anticipate
The day is not too sunny nor too cool
Nor meant to be a space for fake or fool
So here we stand before God’s final gate
And wonder how much longer is the date
Before we enter into paradise
Where we’ll no longer suffer Satan’s lies !
We view our lives through tainted eyes
Because this world is bathed in lies
Real faith exists in truth alone
Since hearts of men oftimes are stone.
Though many strong are honor bred
While others bask in shade instead,
How sad that we discover late
Powers we hold o’er our own fate !
Oh sad the day the Christ did die
And bid this world His last goodbye
He suffered there upon the cross
While the whole world endured the loss.
God’s darkness fell that distant day
And since then has not passed away
We’re ready Lord, and waiting here
For You at last to reappear !
AMEN.
Half hidden here behind the eye
Of all the stress now whizzing by
Many events do come and go
Disclose or hide facts we need know.
Time will invoke the common sense
Grownups require in their defense
However will the youth now learn
The value of each truth discerned ?
For without truth how shall one find
The straightest path to help unwind
The answer is, twill always be
The truth alone shall set us free !
There’s been a moment I recall
A moment that came first of all
Before we challenged all the rules
And listened to the sound of fools
When sense was part of every day
And kindly words were ours to say
Tis time to get our values back
And keep us all on a right track !
While Congress prances all around
Our troops lay dying on the ground
But little care do they eschew
That comforts any other view
There is a God we must believe
Who soon our honor will retrieve !
PLEASE PASS THIS ON.
Dreams are part of each one’s life scheme
For none exists without some dream
The good, the bad, the discontent
Have dreamt those that from God are sent.
The Good Book tells tale after tale
Of those angels that are regaled
The simplest babe while fast asleep
Reacts to dreams the while he sleeps.
No one eludes reality
Of this wide world of mystery
Through which all fears do ever wind,
The place where our doubts are confined !
Without a word, where would we be
If this world found it’s harmony,
Ten thousand years seems time enough
To figure out the going’s rough.
I’ll never understand the why
The choice is not to live or die,
But can we hope or chance to dream
That life holds more than what we’ve seen !
I hear the sound of martial strains
A proud familiar old refrain
One echoing across the plains
That tell my heart believe again.
This nation bound in history
Which fought against cruel infamies
Won claim to fame and victory
That bested oceans and the seas !
HAPPY 244TH !
Oh precious Lamb, You are so sweet
This world is kneeling at Your feet
You are the world’s bright shining Star
All that we hope and dream You are.
The times we knew are fading fast
Have we the stamina to last,
What must we do to prove to You,
Praise God and honor all You do !
Now I have been a child of God at every blessed age
And I have lived in awe of Him through every growing stage
I’ve hoped and wished and dreamt that He will hear my urgent plea
Oh gracious Lord, I love You so, please be my destiny !
A little child did pray to God
“Please bring my daddy home to me
Without him here our lives are hard
He fought a war to set us free “.
This message went upon its way
Just hoping that none will forget
To send that daddy home to stay
Before their joy becomes regret !
Memories last forever, we can’t forget
Years may disappear so much to our regret
There gleaming through a twilight that will not set
If we chance remember with no ending yet !
AMEN.
How I’d like to think we’re all the same
That we all possess the selfsame aim
That our instincts tell us what’s correct
And the principles we must expect,
That we live our lives in manner strong
In a place in which respect belongs,
That we honor truth and liberty
In a world wherein all men are free !
I see the flag, it flies on high
Its standards reaching for the sky
The wind whips round its colors bright
Tis true it is an awesome sight.
There is a chill runs down my spine
Convincing me that we’ll be fine
Quite sure each time I fall asleep
I have these promises to keep.
And if I die before I wake
There is a vow you must not break
Command my ashes to be spread
Along the shore aft I am dead !
The world outside is dark and grim
I beg You Lord, please let me in
It matters not what I shall eat
Or whom it is that I may meet.
Tis only in the shadow of
Your all consuming constant love
That all my hopes and dreams can be
Some part of life’s reality
I promise now that I will do
What e’er You wish that pleases You !
AMEN.
So many words are ever sweet
And rest in bundles at my feet
Syllables echoed on my ear
The sound of which I yearn to hear.
I do enjoy the accolades
Of ages past, forgotten days,
When men of words would have their sway
And you and I might nod “hooray”
For those of old much braver be
To speak for human dignity !
I pine for you my precious child
You weathered life both harsh and mild
When you were young you were so sweet
You truly were your mommy’s treat.
An angel child from heaven sent
Where helping others was your bent
Along the way your life it changed
Your ideas all, how far they ranged.
From deep sea diving to the ice
You did it all and made it nice
Good husband, father, brother too
Your great big world was fond of you.
You never lost your faith in God
Especially when life got hard
We’ll pray that God is there for you
And that His love will follow through !
It matters not where you are from
The lower class or high income,
The price has always been the same
A sense of honor, your good name !
Respect for elders, kindly deeds
Concern for others and their needs
The fact that truth is scoring high
Why would another tell a lie ?
If words are all that one has got
What else is there if one is not ?
Tis sad to note that common man
Has more to hide than less to plan
God knows us all and what we do
No secrets here, not me, not you!
Tis soon the dawn, the day begins
As time is short, nobody wins
The loser fades away discreet
Then who’s left standing on his feet ?
All life is not peaches and cream
Fair or honest, a piper’s dream
While truth gets lost along the way
Is no one there who’ll have a say ?
Remember, only God is just
And worthy of our total trust
He is the Hero and the Friend
Who bides with each far past the end !
Our America had its birth you know
Over two hundred forty years ago
Through the thunder, lightning and fire we grew
Into this nation of red, white and blue
In the rockets great glare we won the fight
And created a star that shines so bright.
With welcoming heart and book in her hand
The Lady in Green in the harbor stands
As she holds the torch for all who will see
This home of the brave and land of the free !
See our blest flag at half staff flown
Whence seeds of valor there were grown
To honor heroes who have died
For God and man and nation’s pride !
AMEN.
There is this call that I now hear
It happens every time each year
The bells peal out and my heart cries
Takes all my strength to face goodbyes !
There is no way I can convey
The sadness that I feel this day
So many wars for all those boys
Who early left their childhood toys
To wear that uniform each chose
Before their lives came to a close.
So be it blue or white or green
Brown, khaki, tan or in between
Whatever color works for you
They fought and died, red, white and blue !
THIS IN MEMORIAM 1776 – 2018
Sometimes the world is full of gloom
Its sadness darkens every room
The seasons change, they come and go
From springtime’s warmth to winter’s snow.
Days roll on by with no account
Midst tears and sighs in great amount
And justice finds it needs a place
To challenge evil’s false embrace.
What was has been and is no more
Once lost will never be restored
The saddest words that one can say
Oh Absalom, you’ve gone astray !
I sailed down mem’ry lane today
Reviewing things that we might say
And thought about it long and hard
I wonder, have you embraced God ?
Since you and I did not agree
On ways each handled destiny
I’d like to think we shared a view
Of all that would be right to do.
Now you’ve been gone for quite awhile
You earned your honor hero style
This is one lesson you’ve taught me
There’s no coward in victory !
We are the home of heroes, every color, every size
But who are those now making this effort to minimize ?
It’s been our own courageous patriots who’ve built this land
A place where citizens can work together hand in hand
This homeland where the people have the freedom and the choice
To fly the flag, sing the song, say the pledge or raise their voice !
