The tide flows in all swift and fleet
And almost knocks me off my feet
The water moves at a quick pace
And comes and goes with ne’er a trace
It makes no sound as it moves on
But silent, seeks its echelon.
For all we know, what do we see
One’s vision of sobriety
Hold on, hold on, do not let go
God’s beside us, this is His show !
I took the path along the way
Because I knew I would not stray
The trail was long, the road was straight
My caution was I must not wait .
While age and time have much to share
About the ways in which we care
For in the end what e’er we do
Determines what and where and who !
I find myself alone at last
With memories of times long passed
Regrets and sorrows I can’t lose
And if I’ve choice, some I won’t choose.
Days when my heart reached for the sky
As all my dreams did upward fly
And life had opened up the door
That held my hopes forevermore.
Alas those dreams did disappear
To fill my life with cautious fear
I’ve little strength left to help fight
Without God’s aid to do what’s right !
My passion lies askew and lost
To honesty, there is great cost
I am not sure I have that strength
Since my time is not of great length.
For presently, my age it shows
Although not yet in deep repose
However soon the shadows fall
When I receive that final call.
Upon whose shoulders it will be
I’ll place my cloak of destiny
Who has the will to carry on
This war I chose to fully don ?
The sands of time slip fast away
To herald passing of each day
The seeds of life lie in decay
Among the remnants cast away.
Where is the truth we know to be
Tight bound in chains across the sea
Who will escape this mutiny
And who at last shall set us free ?
