This world today is upside down
As chaos roams from town to town
All citizens may suffer so
The enemy will not let go.
How sad if we should lose control
Of all our dreams and of each goal
We’ve come too far to just give up
And swallow lies from Satan’s cup.
Where is the truth that must be told
This hatred now has grown too old
We’re all so tired of the strife
God help us to regain our life !
Now I have dreamt a dream or two
And spent a lifetime loving you
I’ve prayed and hoped we two would be
Together through eternity !
Millions of dreams have gone astray
Because of wars we fight each day
When does it end, shall we survive
What must we do to keep alive ?
So many innocents to save
By heroes who have filled each grave
And what of all the families
Left behind with but memories ?
Of fathers, sons and daughters too
Who gave themselves in lieu of you
Bless them all and promise to be
Defenders of their sanctity !
When shades of night begin to fall
And evening hours do softly call
I find that I’m drawn to the sight
Of bright stars that light up the night,
While now and then as one zips past
It leaves a trail that does not last.
The stars are born in distant skies
Beyond the search of human eyes
The best that we can ever do
Is hope our prayers one day come true !
There is a joy the season brings
That dwells within rememberings
Of times long past and those to come
In this old world so worrisome.
What used to be our yesterdays
Have been recycled to todays
And we’ve recaptured our best chance
To feel again the warm romance.
The world that was, has disappeared
To be forgotten as we feared
Tis sad that time must runaway
To leave but hours to love and pray !
Could we but know the history
Of all God’s miracles we see,
That every minute of each day
Are playing out in grand display,
Oh, what a wonder we would learn
For every fraction of life’s turn.
As occurs here before our eyes
This program happens in disguise
The simplest flight of birds on high
Got their direction times gone by
God’s world is perfect as can be
Except for fools like you and me !
There is a joy that loving brings
With laughter and a smile that sings
A twinkle that does cause the eyes
To shine and light the darkest skies.
Keep positive in all you do
Remember lessons taught to you
Thank God each day for every gift
Beg Him to all your spirits lift
Take care you are divorced from spite
Continue prayers both day and night !
Well, here it is, the early morn
Where shades of night melt into dawn
As shadows pale then disappear
Into the light now grown more near.
When I was young I found that joy
So vital to each girl and boy
My heart grew wings, I learned to fly
To heights that reached beyond the sky.
How little did I know back then
It never would return again
And wishes I’d been hoping for
All failed to knock at my front door !
When I reflect o’er my lifespan
And try hard as I ever can
There are these things I greatly miss
The sweetness of my mother’s kiss,
The pleasure of my father’s smile
He made my life a world worthwhile,
The treasure of each tiny tot
Whose hugs and kisses meant a lot,
Such moments cannot be erased
Nor somehow get to be replaced.
I know all this is from the past
These memories I pray will last !
I’ve seen the world about me cry
And heard its whispers of goodbye
I’ve felt the tremor of its fears
All through these recent lonely years
I’ve known the truth and heard its lies
And seen them revel in disguise.
I’ve prayed for help in my distress
And been denied proper redress
I’ve hoped that opportunity
Would visit soon and set me free
But most of all I’ve asked of You
Dear Lord above, please see me through !
A glow of orange floods each room
To banish all life’s doom and gloom
The sun’s rays bouncing off the cots
If they are filled or they are not.
The morning stirs, the day begins
We cannot know who’ll lose, who wins,
The halls are quiet like a mouse
There are few sounds about the house.
I hear tip-toes along the hall
A squeaky wheel, a pregnant stall
The silence drowns my every thought
Too sad this spot where some are brought !
The air is fresh, it smells so sweet
I feel like dancing on my feet
But that’s a little premature
Since I’m unsteady, insecure.
I smile a lot, what should I do
Be grateful when each day is through
Hold on to dreams, we’re not yet done
Let’s pray there is lots more to come !
This world is crashing all around
Please tell us if you hear the sound
The thunder roars above our head
We cannot hear what e’er’s been said
There still is time left to escape
We need locate our hero’s cape.
Oh Lord we seek some help down here
The path ahead looms dark and drear
Please send us aid on winged feet
So we may triumph o’er defeat !
These winter winds embrace the night
While we all snuggle and sleep tight
Under blankets or handmade quilt
That wizened hands with love have built.
The winds do whistle through the glass
Reminding all of life’s morass
Our patience is required now
Pray we survive these times somehow.
For longer than we care to think
Our future trembles on the brink
The Lord is there and knows our plight
And safekeeps us throughout each night !
It is not peace we’re searching for
Our peace won’t come before God’s war
What we need now is Joshua
To sound the trumpets with his corps !
