Too many dreams have come and gone
While life itself still lingers on
The days pass by, the candle burns
As years fly past, the earth still turns.
What was today now bids goodbye
And all that’s left, a quiet sigh !
Too many dreams have come and gone
While life itself still lingers on
The days pass by, the candle burns
As years fly past, the earth still turns.
What was today now bids goodbye
And all that’s left, a quiet sigh !
My heart’s so sad I cannot bear
The thought that I may never share
Or see the end of all we’ve wrought
And what has been or heard or taught.
The dreams of all our yesterdays
That in this life do garner praise
Are kept quite safe in memory
Reflecting our identity
For dreaming is a part of what
Life is about, like it or not !
The pages of my date book fly
Reminding me life’s passing by
Day dawns and rushes off I know
While I am not quite set to go.
Oh how I wish that I could be
A child once more beguiled and free
Who loves all God’s variety
And every gift He offers me !
The time for dreaming is now done
Let’s raise our glasses one by one
To give a toast and pledge that we
Shall make it to eternity !
The cattle low, the rooster crows
Tis quite early in the morning
The trees will bend, the wind it blows
Another day soon is dawning.
The squirrels hustle in the trees
Their booty they are defending
While pigeons roosting mongst the leaves
All their messages are sending !
May the gift of giving be with us each year
As the sounds of Christmas fall upon our ear
May the joy of loving bring each one great cheer
While true faith in God diminishes our fear !
I wish, I wish I could have been
On that long road to Bethlehem
To witness those bright stars at night
That to all proclaimed Christ’s birthright.
Oh star of wonder teach me how
To bide with truth and honor now
Because I know His Word will reign
Upon this earth again, again !
There is a sound I remember well
The joyous peal of our Christmas bell
Resting there in its lofty steeple
Reaching out to all of His people.
Granting each one love, peace and surprise
On Christmas morn as all do arise
Thank God for our blessings great and small
May the Lord above gift hope to all !
There’s a tugging on my heartstrings
The sound of Christmas music brings
Old memories that fill my brain
Are here to haunt me once again.
I can’t forget the times long gone
Those dreams that we depended on
How much time have we yet to wait
Before we meet at Heaven’s Gate ?
There are so many ways to say
I love you each and every day
A kiss, a hug, a smile or two
Will do the trick to get one through.
A voice that’s gentle, ever kind
With not a single edge to grind
True honesty in all you do
Dependable, trustworthy too,
These are the qualities you’ll need
To be a winner and succeed !
Oh how I wish that I could fly
Above the dark clouds in the sky
Into that place where dreams are made
And raindrops taste like lemonade,
Where children laugh and play and shout
And no one has to do without,
Where God above has room to share
With anyone who visits there !
There’s been a moment I recall
A moment that came first of all
Before we challenged all the rules
And listened to the sound of fools
When sense was part of every day
And kindly words were ours to say
Tis time to get our values back
And keep us all on a right track !
As I peer out my window pane
I see the snow has come again
Here in the early hours of dawn
The whiteness seems to brighten morn.
Oh what a luxury it is
To be assured that we are His
And will be so forever more
When life shall close that final door !
My heart’s so full I dare not speak
A world so sad, so dark, so bleak
The winds of war doth us surround
The earth begs cleansing all around.
May God in heaven hear our plea
And use His power to set us free !
And so my love as we’ve grown old
And nights are long and days are cold
And all we knew has been forgot
With dreams that we remember not !
The Christmas lights are burning bright
Invading darkness of the night
Colors bursting clear to the roof
Reverberating season’s proof
Extending faith they wish to share
With believers everywhere
Believe the season’s magic will
With love and joy, each wish fulfill !
At times I try so very hard
For all my sadness to discard
To smile and bring my life on track
And pray to lure good humor back.
Our lives are but a series of
Moments of fear, joy, tears and love
However tough the times may be
It’s always just temporary !
The snow is drifting to the ground
Its destinations to be found
The air’s so fresh and wet to touch
Creating visions, scenes and such
The snow is drifting into piles
Where e’er you turn, the world still smiles
Oh what a joy that all may see
God’s generous diversity !
Whomever thought I would live to be
Alive in another century
How fast all the years have whizzed on by
With a tender shrug and a sad goodbye.
While I’d like to believe it’s okay
Trying to pursue another day
In a world I neither fit nor last
Since the twentieth century’s passed !
AMEN.
May the Lord above look down on me
With kindness and generosity
May He clasp my hand through darkest night
And save my soul from old Satan’s might
May His love warm me when it is cold
And cushion my steps aft I’ve grown old !
AMEN.
I waken to the light outside
It’s pale and dull, on the flat side
The sun’s smile has been hid away
By clouds above, some sad and grey.
Tomorrow brings a better chance
Of love and joy mixed with romance,
Our lives are full of ups and downs
With happy smiles and miles of frowns.
Let’s spice it up, just for a bit
Perhaps, we’ll find a perfect fit !
The weather’s so much colder now
The snow is smothering each bough
A film of icy crystal grows
Across each piece of glass that shows.
The ground is heaped to ankle high
As swirling white falls from the sky
The air is quiet not a sound
The peace of God is all around.
There’s not a bird left in the air
All hide themselves in secret lair
They’ve tucked their beaks under their wings
And waken when the church bell rings !
Throughout my youth and ageing years
I’ve known the company of tears
My rainbow has appeared at last
The final role my life has cast.
I’m still on hold, accepting too
As life has taught me what to do
I wish I had the patience of
Each saint and angel up above !
While Congress prances all around
Our troops lay dying on the ground
But little care do they eschew
That comforts any other view
There is a God we must believe
Who soon our honor will retrieve !
PLEASE PASS THIS ON.
Oh life that was and is no more
Has tiptoed softly out the door
And just as peaceful laid to rest
Amidst the ages mongst the best !
Oh for the days when dreams were new
And growing up seemed over due
When children’s laughs were full of glee
And love was still a mystery.
The Lord Himself is always there
He heals our wounds and hears our prayer
Bless God for all the gifts He gives
And all the sins which He forgives !
This life is full of mix and match
Grab anything that you can catch
Hold on because you never know
What opportunities will show.
It may not seem to be enough
Though often when the going’s tough
There is a lesson we need learn
That each of us must wait our turn !
