I took the path along the way
Because I knew I would not stray
The trail was long, the road was straight
My caution was I must not wait .
While age and time have much to share
About the ways in which we care
For in the end what e’er we do
Determines what and where and who !
When shades of night begin to fall
And evening hours do softly call
I find that I’m drawn to the sight
Of bright stars that light up the night,
While now and then as one zips past
It leaves a trail that does not last.
The stars are born in distant skies
Beyond the search of human eyes
The best that we can ever do
Is hope our prayers one day come true !
The sun is rising in the sky
To peer o’er roofs of homes nearby
And shine a ray of bright sunlight
To veil the darkness of each night.
The winds of chance are more discreet
As they blow change across the street
And every single breath we breathe
Is one more memory to leave !
In dreams we find life’s small escape
Some dreams are meant to keep us safe
While arms are meant to wrap around
And keep us warm with love unbound.
How wonderful this world would be
Wrapt up in God’s divinity !
My heart so full, tis sure to pop
My brain’s elated, I can’t stop
I view outside, what do I see
This image God has made for me.
There’s such rare beauty to be found
From azure sky with its surround
Like all the joy He’s gifted me
His heaven, earth, His world to see !
Here in the silence of the night
One finds the courage and the might
Of all that’s proffered in His sight
By God whose judgement is the Light !
The cold slips in beneath the door
And shimmies fast across the floor
Leaving behind a lasting chill
As icy fingers often will.
No matter where it is I go
I am no fan of frost or snow
And wish I had a magic wand
To shoo the cold to places yon
What bliss t’would be to bide somewhere
That warmth is free and everywhere !
The sun peeks through the window blinds
As morning light exposure finds
Let’s welcome in this brand new day
Before it too does fly away.
The leaves have gone, the trees are bare
The smell of snow now fills the air
As winter creeps upon its knees
The earth beneath begins to freeze.
Too soon the frost will move on in
While dark of night shall soon begin !
I hear the sound of martial strains
A proud familiar old refrain
One echoing across the plains
That tell my heart believe again.
This nation bound in history
Which fought against cruel infamies
Won claim to fame and victory
That bested oceans and the seas !
HAPPY 244TH !
Oh blessed Lord, please hear my plea
And save a piece of sky for me
A dusky eve or starlit night
Perhaps a rainbow’s sweet delight.
And for your pleasure, I will raise
A song of love and joyous praise
Come join me Lord and hear me pray
That you’ll take me with you to stay !
The earth is round and full of strife
From sea to sea it teems with life
It’s full of valleys, mountains high
Where giant peaks reach for the sky.
Trillions of acres garbed in green
Four hundred billion birds are seen
Where eighty billion souls may be
Before this life will set us free
A world of sound, eclectic light
An image of God’s Own insight !
The Word of God shines bright and clear
Sincerity rings on the ear
And leads us to the proper way
To mend our lives as we do pray.
The lessons learned and manners taught
Are those that have our freedom bought
If we accept this gift He gave
He’s promised all, our souls He’ll save !
Oh, how I pray that I can hide
These tears I shed on the inside
For all God’s children that I see
Who dwell in abject poverty.
They never really had a chance
For all their dreams to be enhanced
Or find a safer path to take
That guarantees a better break.
Our Lord is just and answers prayer
He comprehends we all must share
It’s left to us to learn and teach
The world we love to kindness reach !
The fireplace flickers as the fire glows
It warms the fingertips and the toes
Too soon the winter will settle here
And stay with us till the end of year.
We’ll learn to laugh though it turns quite chill
While there’s no chance it could change our will
For who doesn’t love the old fireside
When winds blow hard and it’s cold outside ?
There is a joy the season brings
That dwells within rememberings
Of times long past and those to come
In this old world so worrisome.
What used to be our yesterdays
Have been recycled to todays
And we’ve recaptured our best chance
To feel again the warm romance.
The world that was, has disappeared
To be forgotten as we feared
Tis sad that time must runaway
To leave but hours to love and pray !
The dark of night moves in with ease
And snuggles till the morning breeze
The angels of the night will fade
And rest until the evening shade.
The dawn arrives to welcome day
The world’s alive and kneels to pray
God bless us all and make us whole
Improve our times and save our soul !
All creatures lives are full of fear
As they survive from year to year
Some lifetimes that they share are cruel
Still their love sparkles like a jewel.
While all the legacy we leave
Are what we’ve said or do believe
The animals can’t speak their mind
But truer love this world won’t find.
How sad that few may chance endure
To cruelty there is no cure
Beg God protect each simple beast
From giant-sized down to the least !
What I leave behind, of little note
Are so many words, through life, I wrote
Perhaps some few that you may here find
With time through memories, shall rewind
My heart is true and oftimes quite sad
Because I miss all that I once had
I thank the Lord for the gifts He gave
And the joys we knew that each has saved !
I stand by God and all He means
He fills my heart and all my dreams
He is my Hero over all
I answer ever to His call
It matters not where I shall go
For I am His till end times show !
The summer’s gone, it’s blown away
Beg as I would, it could not stay
And now I feel the traitor’s spell
I cannot bar old Autumn’s tell.
So stoke the fire and heat up all
The fruits and plants from frosty fall
Shall all be captive to the cold
Like pioneers in times of old !
Wild animals that roam the fields
Are kinder than great power yields
For men may so much conflict feel
In conscience, kindness can’t be real.
The cruelties of their insane need
Of which the world pays little heed
Convinces all who’ve dared to see
Of what they deed to history !
I cannot wait for dawn to show
From whence the sounds of life doth flow
The darkness of the night will fade
As sunbeams from daylight invade.
The shadows that are left behind
As all the early hours unwind
Do leave with us this lucent sight
Escaping emptiness each night !
The sun came out to play today
While sunbeams danced their hearts away
The air was warm and smelled so sweet
And all were light upon their feet.
I wish somehow we could replay
The happenings of every day
That bring God’s laughter and His joy
For all His creatures to employ !
Oh blessed Lord, see how my heart grieves
When another of Your children leaves
This generation has missed so much
No love or kisses, no tender touch
A prayer or two for what used to be
And a hint of things we’ll never see.
I beg You Lord to find him a place
Help him to rest in a special space
Show him the love that he’s never known
Treat him as if the sky were his home
Answer his queries best as You can
Help him remember he died a man !
TO MICHAEL WITH LOVE.
I’d like to think that God is here
And those I’ve loved are ever near
That all I need is close at hand
And everything will turn out grand.
I’ve waited my whole lifetime through
To know what is it I must do
Be thankful and remember this
God’s gift to all, eternal bliss !
The pages of my calendar
All now seem to be flashing by
They are racing one another
I find I’m helpless as they fly.
I never thought that I would see
A time that would evaporate
This world with such rapidity
Without a chance to concentrate.
And so it is the days have passed
Without one moment to be lost
Like pictures in a looking glass
With no one there to count the cost !
I’m so sad that the summer’s done
It’s leaves are falling one by one
The wind moves slowly in the breeze
While sailing quiet through the trees.
There is a crispness in the air
Relief from heat we’ve had to bear
Too soon the winter will appear
To fill the balance of the year.
Then when the dawn does shine its light
That emanates from brilliant white
Reflected there in swirling snow
You’ll see the season’s icy show !
The air is thin and smells lke snow
When winter comes where does one go
And where will all God’s creatures hide
If there’s no warmth to find outside ?
Oh Lord, have mercy on those souls
Whose lives are lost and without goals !
