It seems each road shall have an end
Without a lover or a friend
The seasons change or pass away
And move on by, day after day
The stars above fade aft each night
And disappear in morning’s light.
The sun will break its fast at dawn
While we are left to carry on
How lonely that one lifetime seems
With out its history and dreams
As all pass into the oblique
Deserting every quest we seek !
The air is thin and smells lke snow
When winter comes where does one go
And where will all God’s creatures hide
If there’s no warmth to find outside ?
Oh Lord, have mercy on those souls
Whose lives are lost and without goals !
I often think it’s sad that we
Must live with each infirmity
Yet it may make us stronger now
If we could learn the why and how
This life is not a sack of dreams
Filled with a mass of wasted schemes.
It’s real, it’s here, we need take care
This is a concept all may share
God offers us a second chance
To live, to hope, to circumstance
It’s up to us to carry on
The Lord’s our strength here and beyond !
I spy the remnants of my life
Surviving all its stress and strife
I sense the depth of my defense
While reaching out for recompense.
Where are the goals I thought I had
That separate good from the bad,
When will I learn to use my time
In aiding those who dare to climb ?
I find myself caught in the net
That seems to have no exit yet
Please show me, Lord the way to go
To help our lives and values grow !
The heart is full with joy complete
For love of God is ever sweet
There is no reason to complain
Nor purpose needed to explain
Life’s forecast dwells in peace with thee
And basks in God’s divinity !
Tis said that life’s a learning curve
While on this road one must not swerve
Remember to keep goal in mind
Let moderation help you find
Those aims that you are searching for
And keys to open freedom’s door !
The world’s no longer black and white
Its color code is sheer delight
Ranging from dark to brightest light
With every tint from day to night !
There may be some eight billion souls
Whose values differ from their goals
While many playing other roles
Find life demanding greater tolls !
I love You Lord, I know You see
That I have placed my faith in Thee
Though time has passed I feel the loss
And why You suffered on that cross !
I’ve reached the crossroads of my life
The way’s ahead replete with strife
No matter where I search to find
The road I seek does wind and wind.
There is no path that ‘s straight to tread
Both for the living or the dead
My body’s weary, my heart worn
As peace and rest from me are torn.
I fail to see the sense of it
Sometimes I’d simply like to quit
But I’m sure God will still be there
To help us face our last despair !
There is a basket that sits on a shelf nearby
Full of ideas that failed as other hopes did die
It holds the remnants of the life that I desired
When time was young and no special talent required.
There in that simple basket rests a thousand schemes
Amongst the fabric, ribbons, needles, plans and dreams
Pieces of wood, paper, cotton, wishes and bows
All of them part of a past that nobody knows.
The basket is silent, it never had a voice
Like those who filled my life yet never made a choice
Each has their secret cache that only they control
And each at last decides what is their final goal !
When I was but a little girl
Each word I learned was like a pearl
Infused with wisdom I would learn
Throughout my life and in my turn.
The words were short and to the point
Have faith in truth don’t disappoint
Trust in the Lord with all your soul
And keep your eye upon the goal !
Now that was very long ago
Things haven’t changed that much you know
Sometimes I wish I weren’t grown
And that my seeds had not all flown
But this is true I can’t deny
God rules my life since I’m knee high !
I looked for love I searched in vain
I thought that I had missed that train
So long ago I cannot say
I can’t recall upon which day !
There is no reason I can give
Or cite one person to forgive
Why it just happens who can know
For some to stay while others go.
The wheel spins round and round, you see
And stops where it is meant to be
Tis true to note we need control
It is our choice, our aim, our goal !
Soon dark will come and curtains fall
I hear those faroff voices call
They speak to me of distant times
Of other places, other climes.
It brings to mind those yesterdays
When life seemed full of pleasant ways
And God and man together were
In league against old Lucifer.
But now all rules are cast away
As nearer moves our judgement day !
The childhood dreams we tuck away
To wait upon a latter day
When life and time will both comply
Enables us to make a try !
While seeming lost a way was found
To keep our feet upon the ground
There learn to seek a worthy cause
That earns results and not applause !
The simple fact that we shall find
It does not help to act unkind,
And in the end as time runs out
There is no sense to cry or shout,
For who can hear the silent scream
Of one who lusted for a dream ?
Today is just another day
I won’t agree, I cannot say
For days are how we mark the space
From birth to final resting place.
The life of man is counted so
Weeks, months and years do come and go
We rise and fall and make a choice
We silence keep or use our voice.
If useful life is what we choose
The path we take may win or lose
When all is done and we are free
The goal we seek, eternity !
