When I look out and see her there
Our Liberty with greenish hair
So grand and strong reminding me
We have remained land of the free
Far longer than two hundred years
Amidst hurrahs and raucous cheers.
But now we are put to the test
To do what we know to be best
Thus save our nation from distress
And for the rest our foes impress
Our job’s ongoing, working hard
Protect ourselves and thank our God !
Tis said that life’s a learning curve
While on this road one must not swerve
Remember to keep goal in mind
Let moderation help you find
Those aims that you are searching for
And keys to open freedom’s door !
I’ve often thought how bold are we
To dream aloud of victory
There is a path we all must take
To learn what values are at stake
We strive to be a people free
Oft caught midst chains of tyranny.
As winds of war rage fierce and wild
A challenge to each man or child
We’re wrapt in our leftover tears
And chastened by impending fears.
There is no way to make amends
With God alone to help our friends
Beyond this sight what will we see
Still flying there, old Liberty !
I often think no matter what
That I will give all that I’ve got
And pray that I’m much better than
Some mediocre protest plan !
I’ll stand up for the land I love
Her people that I am proud of
Her flag and constitution too
The honor of red, white and blue
I sure hope most will join with me
To fight to keep our liberty !
The day is coming soon enough
The road’s been rocky, steep and tough
Is this the day that’s still to come
When angels gather only some,
To lead them into fields of gold
Where words of God resound untold
And man may reach his glory road
Where all His wisdom glows and flowed ?
Our Lord shall rule from up above
The air we breathe instilled with love
And so it is and so ’twill be
When all of earth at last is free !
If only I could reach the sky
To count the stars all passing by
Or urge each cloud to weep or cry
O’er arid lands that are too dry,
A lonely eagle up so high
That sails on wind with wings that sigh
Perhaps to dream this will not die
While other hopes may multiply,
To live a life time won’t deny
And praise this land we occupy !
There was a greenish statue that on an islet stood
When I was but a child too nearby my neighborhood
We did pay small attention, we called her Liberty
She was this grand figure that you couldn’t help but see.
With every place I’ve lived she was always in my sight
You could not escape her glance not morning, noon or night
She’s still there in the harbor exposed for all to see
A symbol of our freedom and still called Liberty !
( WHEN I CLOSED MY BLINDS SHE WAS THE FINAL THING I’D SEE )
The more I see the more I think
This world it totters on the brink
Seems no solution has appeared
The final outcome is quite clear
We’re on the eve of some attack
How shall we win our freedom back ?
I hear the sound of our retreat
We need to get back on our feet
Stand up for what you know is right
We can’t afford to lose this fight !
There’s a wall rises by the sea
That resonates past treachery
With fountains, trees and marble cold
And names to last through eons old.
Remembering this is our choice
Our dead shall never lose their voice
But cry aloud so all should hear
There’ll be no tyrant here to fear
This is our home twill ever be
Land of the brave forever free !

The winds of change bring no relief
At times they’re cruel, not often brief
What is it that we’re meant to learn
Or how address our next concern ?
Our nation flounders all alone
For what great sin must we atone,
The sadness of our lives may be
That we remain no longer free !
In the world each tomorrow brings
I hear the songs the siren sings
It calls my name both loud and clear
What is it that I have to fear ?
Perhaps twill be that I won’t know
The path to take or way to go
Or rather that I may not feel
That all of this is true or real ?
The world I sight with my own eyes
Is full of doubt and much surprise
It’s power is consuming me
Somehow I’m sure I am not free !
Who can know what a man of honor will do
To safekeep his home and save his freedom too
With many a battle in the past that’s fought
As the price of our nation was dearly bought.
For more than two hundred years we did survive
Our values and principles still quite alive
But beware of those who now put us to test
With evil intent to destroy all our best.
Let’s return to the way that we used to be
The home of the brave and the land of the free !
I’ve learned to live from day to day
Perform my task and pay my way
To stand up for what’s right not wrong
And teach my heart how to be strong.
I’d like to be a child of peace
And pray world chaos soon would cease
However I know that can’t be
Until our Lord deigns we are free !
We see remains of vicious war
And wonder what it all was for
The broken bodies, missing parts
With active minds and aching hearts.
How will we reach the end of this
It won’t be cured with just a kiss
The work entailed is mass indeed
This task demands the utmost speed.
We can’t permit this fear to grow
It’s time solutions start to show
Get off your perch and pull up tall
Or we shall never stand at all!
The lady in the harbor that we call Liberty
Stands waving her approval for all the world to see
She’s been there far too long on that island in the bay
Think of all that she has seen and what she has to say.
May the Lord in heaven look down kindly from above
Protecting our great nation and values that we love !
The sands of time slip fast away
To herald passing of each day
The seeds of life lie in decay
Among the remnants cast away.
Where is the truth we know to be
Tight bound in chains across the sea
Who will escape this mutiny
And who at last shall set us free ?
What’s happened to this place that we so love
This precious land the world is jealous of
One nation under God for all to see
With the true blessings of our liberty.
From the north to south, from the east to west
From the mountains high to the valley’s crest
Over the fields and across the great plains
From the sun drenched sands to the coastal rains.
The need to feel free and be all you can
With a heart strong and a love of the land
A nation so great most dream to come here
Our red, white and blue, let’s stand up and cheer !
High on the precipice I left my foolish fears
There silent and alone amidst my falling tears
Vowing not to be that sad soul forever more
Training my eye to focus on God’s open door
For He has said to all that we are welcome here
We’re free to come and go, to laugh and cry or cheer !
There is a light that burns so bright
Its luminescence floods the night
It is the light that knowledge brings
Into our lives where freedom rings.
The song we hear is incomplete
Its notes sing out both clear and sweet
All promising that we shall learn
How to address one great concern.
Our safety lies within that glow
Where wisdom’s power does constant grow
Else who is left to keep the lights
Forever burning through our nights ?
Now who are we to judgement make
While this whole world does shake and quake
The time has come for all to see
The price of peace is never free !
Oh those men who took the hill that day
In a foreign land so far away,
Too many died as they gained the beach
A thousand drowned weighted in the breach.
Who knew what strengths would fill all these men
When courage chose to inspire again
And charge the hill filled with fire and brim
Like hell’s front gate at volcano rim ?
While the memories still haunt their nights
With death’s dark vision midst blinding lights,
What’s wrong with this world in which we live
When is time ripe to learn to forgive ?
The name was Cemetery Hill
Its victims’ cries do echo still
Where fifty thousand was the cost
Of dead and wounded and those lost.
The men that fought that long hot day
They had no chance to getaway
While blood they shed covered the ground
There was no hero to be found.
A war is such an ugly curse
I can’t believe there is much worse !
There is a bird still sings to me
From way up high in God’s great tree
He sings so sweetly in the air
Sometimes I wish he weren’t there
Because he makes me think that I
Would follow him if I could fly
While birds were born to fly and sing
Both you and I wear God’s clipped wings !
Here’s to the Statue of Liberty
And to this place called land of the free
Despite the crack in Liberty’s bell,
Honor the tale historians tell
Of Revere and his steed’s late night ride
Through this great land of the Pilgrim’s pride,
To patriots who fought in the wars
And gave their lives for this country’s cause
To the young, the feeble and the old
The quick and dead, the brave and the bold
And to our Lord who resides above
For His constant care, enduring love !
Oh how I wish that I could fling
My cares away while on a swing
I’d pump the air to get a rise
So I could reach up to the skies.
The wind would whistle through my hair
When I was on the way up there
And I could see high over heads
Above the parks and flower beds.
I miss that comfort I once knew
I’d love to swing the whole day through !
Our lady in the harbor with torch held oh so high
She waves as strangers greet her while they are passing by
She is a precious omen that opens wide the door
To bid each one a welcome who comes here searching for
A little bit of heaven, the chance to be one’s own
Reach out to touch the angels who call this land their home !
There is a dream that comforts me
That one day I shall live to see
The power of our God will be
To loose our chains and set us free !
The picture that now greets our eyes
Perhaps too soon will don disguise
To hide away its plan perverse,
Destroy our dreams or even worse.
The time has come there’s no delay
To take a stand or kneel and pray
To beg our God He take command
Ere we are slaves in our own land !
