Now I have dreamt a dream or two
And spent a lifetime loving you
I’ve prayed and hoped we two would be
Together through eternity !
Now I have dreamt a dream or two
And spent a lifetime loving you
I’ve prayed and hoped we two would be
Together through eternity !
It seems each road shall have an end
Without a lover or a friend
The seasons change or pass away
And move on by, day after day
The stars above fade aft each night
And disappear in morning’s light.
The sun will break its fast at dawn
While we are left to carry on
How lonely that one lifetime seems
With out its history and dreams
As all pass into the oblique
Deserting every quest we seek !
Do you hear the children hard at play
On this idyllic autumnal day
Happy voices raised, so full of glee
Charming the likes of both you and me !
Tis sad the problem we now face
As members of the human race
The pestilence has taken hold
Of world wide fear, exceeding bold
To cover all the good and kind
That we’d the power here to find.
So simple when we understand
That life is ruled by God’s command
Accept His judgement every day
His sense of justice and fair play !
Celestial bodies in the sky
All flash and wink in passing by
I wonder if they query why
No other objects fly so high !
There is a numbness that I feel
An emptiness that’s so unreal
Sensation lost and caring less
All part of my renewed distress
I am so weak, my strength is gone
Great effort just to carry on.
Oh how I wish to stronger be
And stand up to adversity
Perhaps one day I’ll find success
With God to teach me all the rest !
Stand up my dear and look around, what is it that you see   Â
Nonsense and  foolishness  that’s  steeped in  inequality    Â
How  sad  that  this is all  that’s  left of  sensibility    Â
When will the  guilty  be returned  to  culpability ?    Â
Â
  Â
AN OBSERVATION.
Dear Lord above please set us free
From much of life’s indignity
Please teach us now how to survive
These terrors which all seem to thrive
Be thoughtful of each act performed
And to the rules try to conform.
Be kind to those who are alone
And left to linger on their own
Beg God remember everyone
Whose suffering is not yet done
Protect us Lord from daily fright
With rising sun to closing night !
Take a good look around and tell me what you see
The beauty that is God’s and life’s infinity
Please hold me by the hand and teach me how to pray
Help me to love God and to worship Him each day !
AMEN.
Outside the window the world awaits
For the Lord to raise the pearly gates
And for all the clouds to disappear
Before we have spent half of the year
The time has arrived and gone away
To leave us bereft and in dismay.
Dear Lord above forgive us our sin
Open our hearts and welcome God in
May we forever live in the glow
Of every wonder God has to show !
Oh little child who dotes on sweets
With dancing shoes attached to cleats
Black patent taps that click away
And to the world new steps display.
This child to theatre newly brought
With skills and talents often sought
Hear now the sound of tapping feet
Proceed to stage, steps and the street.
How shall we serve our Lord the best
Accepting every sort of test
And understanding as we do
That all we are belongs to You !
So many words spring from the pain
That is attacking me again,
Oh, how I wish one day to be
From all of this forever free !
Oh wind that breaks upon the waves
And breeze that shares each morning’s gaze
Teach me to chant a pirate song
That I to seafaring belong.
Oh save my heart from lonesomeness
While all my handicaps confess
Help me to strive for constancy
And all my weaknesses foresee.
Hand me the light that I might shine
It’s endless glow on yours and mine
God let us put our toys away
Make ready for our Judgement Day !
My heart calls out His holy name
And searches for the way He came
To Calvary onto the cross
To suffer there man’s greatest loss,
But who am I to question why
The Son of God was born to die !
Angels  from heaven  are tapping  on my door
I’m  not  upset  cause  I’ve heard  them tap  before
I  comprehend their  job  and  what must be done
I  sure could  use  hands on  with  some help for fun !
Our Father who abides on high
His wisdom reigns down from the sky
Have pity on the earth below
Where man and beast do ebb and flow
We crave Your Help and Tender Care
For soon there will be nothing there.
If man could but sustain his faith
Arising o’er the power of wraith
To triumph and reclaim his right
Hence revel in his God’s delight
Achieve that goal before one dies
Upon God’s help whence love resides !
I’ve wandered down on memory lane
Hoping to visit old friends again
Trying to recall what used to be
Traveling back in my memory
So many shadows along the way
Of all we have met here day by day
Celebrate occasions one by one
From early morn till each day is done !
Too soon, my Lord, I give and share
For You, my dreams of hope and care
Begin and end in joyful praise
I beg of You, Your peaceful ways.
Protect me Lord, I’ll ask no more
Than that Your heart’s an open door
That offers me a final choice,
Lift up my heart and hear my voice !
AMEN
Oh blessed Lord, do hear my plea
Have pity on a child like me
I am Your servant sad and low
That folows ever where You go
I wait Your Word with rapid breath
For I am Yours until my death.
There is no day without Your Light
Nor any love that shines so bright
The angels sing Your praise on high
Their voices reaching for the sky
The flutter of their wings is heard
They echo every single word.
I love You Lord and always will
Until earth’s sounds at last are still !
Oh how my love plays tricks on me
And gathers up my sympathy
My eyes are full of sweet surprise
With all the joy of each sunrise
Observe God’s will with constant heart
Stay true to values from the start
Believe in your own destiny
Keep faith alive and courage free
Always remember God is there
To save us whether foul or fair !
There was a street that I used to know
When I was a girl so long ago
With an old house that had three large floors
Lots of windows and quite a few doors.
Dozens of roses, black iron torch
Both back yard and front, plus a great porch
Tomatoes, peppers, carnations too
A home full of love much overdue
As I’ve wandered down memory’s lane
Couldn’t help singing a glad refrain
Reminding myself God loves us all
Whether we’re skinny, fat, short or tall !
Oh  sad the day  the Christ did die
And  bid this world  His last goodbye
He  suffered there  upon the cross
While  the whole world  endured the loss.
God’s  darkness fell  that distant day
And  since then  has not passed away
We’re  ready Lord,  and waiting here
For  You at last  to reappear !
AMEN.
Oh how I Â wish that I had wings
To fly  up high where  angels sing
And  visit  in their  choir loft
As  day  begins,  the light is soft
How  sweet  and clear  their voices are
The  notes ring  out both near  and far.
Oh  how I pray  that I might  be
A  part of  their community
Just  think of  all the joy  we’d  share
If  somehow  I could  tarry there
Truth  is that  cannot be  the case
Cause  I’m  part of the  human  race !
There  she is  our Lady Liberty
Symbol  of this  safe home of the  free
She’s  the  grandest of all  that we sight
There in the Harbor  each day and night.
She  spurs us on  to do greater things
Like  prayers we say  and hymns  we  sing
We’ll  join our hearts  and hands together
Through  pleasant days  or stormy weather.
Let’s  ask our  God  to protect us all
In  case old Satan  decides to call  !
I’d  like to think  that  I recall
The  tender years  when I was small,
I  sat upon my  grandpa’s  knee
And  snuggled  while he read  to me.
There  was a story  I  loved best
Both  head and shoulders o’er  the rest
About  the night  our Christ  was born
And  how the world  rejoiced that  morn
As  angels sang  and skies  did glow
The  world did kneel  and honor show.
God  placed  His star  high in the sky
With  earth  to note its  passing by,
His  promise of  eternal  peace
And  from all  sin,  at last release !
AMEN.
I  hear  the bells,  they call to me
They  ring  aloud in  harmony
A  song  of  sweetness  that is clear
Falls  softly on  the  list’ning  ear.
I’m  sure the  angels  hum the tune
Both  morning,  night  and  afternoon
The  music  swells into  the air
It’s  magic  meant to  linger there.
How  glorious  that all  should be
Our  praises  to  God’s  majesty !
Rage,  rage  against the coming storm
Its  days  are here before  too long
Look  to the sky,  approaching  morn
Ere  their currents  become too strong.
The  times are changing  oh,  so fast
As  all our values soon  get lost
Into  one role  they  shall be cast
With  no way left  to count the cost  !
