Stand up my dear and look around, what is it that you see
Nonsense and foolishness that’s steeped in inequality
How sad that this is all that’s left of sensibility
When will the guilty be returned to culpability ?
AN OBSERVATION.

Half hidden here behind the eye
Of all the stress now whizzing by
Many events do come and go
Disclose or hide facts we need know.
Time will invoke the common sense
Grownups require in their defense
However will the youth now learn
The value of each truth discerned ?
For without truth how shall one find
The straightest path to help unwind
The answer is, twill always be
The truth alone shall set us free !
When I was young and full of vim
That was the time I first knew Him
It changed my life that very day
For I began to walk His way.
How simple it was, I did find
As He brought me such peace of mind
A strength I gathered from above
And power of His unflinching love !
This man reviled by all the press
Who came on board to fix the mess
His name will live in history
He saved this nation for the free
And time alone shall tell the tale
So many stories to regale
Have faith that in the end we’ll see
His name will mark our victory !
There’s too much to remember, how do we forget
Beginning with December, days of deep regret
But now a battle’s brewing in our own backyard
We’d better pay attention ere it goes too far.
Wake up before it’s over, it will be too late
The demon’s wrapt in culture, please anticipate
Strip them of their power and put them in their place
This is the final hour, uncover their disgrace !
BEWARE.
Can you feel the chill that’s in the air
Do you sense its power everywhere
Will it burrow in and move about
As it spreads its wings both in and out ?
There’s a pendulum that keeps apace
Of all the matters each one must face
Sometimes the pressure becomes too great
Or an answer comes when it’s too late
Truth is I really would chose to be
Included in God’s serenity !
I pray for you, my darling boy
With all the strength I can employ
There is no way I shall escape
Concern for you, to know you’re safe !
Whomever thought this heart would break
Knew right from wrong, make no mistake
I miss you now and ever still
To meet again, pray God we will !
Oh how I wish our dreams might be
Converted to reality
Then we could ask for something more
And bring an end to ugly war.
There’s so much work we need to do
To help this fantasy come true
But first comes faith and our intent
With love of peace that’s honest meant !
It doesn’t make much sense to me
To claim some bogus victory
Or just pretend that who you are
Is so important by much far
Who cares if one’s the simpler sort
If complications count for nought.
I’d rather be a bird on wing
Who joins his species in birdsing
Than stand upon a mighty stage
With those who are the latest rage.
They curry favor all life long
By singing out song after song,
Instead of praising God the King
Who has created everything !
For so it is and it will be
We need the truth to set us free
What is the cost of liberty
If we are blind or will not see ?
Sometimes I believe there is no end
To all the troubles fleet time may send
And how can we in good faith respond
As we find ourselves so put upon ?
Where is the justice that we must seek
To save us whether brave, mild or meek
What is it that we’ve been searching for
Or hope to find behind God’s locked door ?
Oh Humpty-Dumpty what have we here
A world of treachery full of fear
Where are the king’s horses and his men
You know we could use their help again !
To all of us it’s become quite clear
We’ve unsafe streets, the future looks drear
We need your advice if you don’t mind
There’s a solution we must now find
Make sure we promise to not crack eggs
And pray we stand on our own two legs !
It seems the heart returns to childhoods past
Where all of our dreams were designed or cast
The innocence of those now bygone days
Got lost in the grip of our foolish ways,
And the times we dreamt have now disappeared
To leave us caught in the crisis we feared !
EXCUSE ME but today is my birthday and I am encouraged to remember that I am imbued with old fashioned truth and the honor of my immigrant heritage. I’m an American who dearly loves my nation and its culture. I’ve raised a large family who share my values and of this I am proud. In these last 85 years I have known too many wars. I’ve had my share of patriotism, sadness and salvation, above all I continue to respect my God and my countrymen. There’s been a lot of experience and living in all of these past years, stories beyond counting, from a family crossing an angry ocean a long time ago on a three masted ship to the tragic destruction of the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001, from Pearl Harbor to D Day to the explosion of the Challenger, and so much more. And yet here we are battered and sullied but not beaten ! For we are made of sterner stuff. Come join us, vote in this primary perhaps for the first time ! I hope you are aware that we don’t actually vote for the presidential candidates of our choice but for the delegates who represent them called electors, who by the way, do NOT have to elect the candidates they have been promised to, which has happened in the past ! This is why we must vote in ALL elections, please read online about the Electoral College and learn about this strange phenomenon, won’t you ? Do you comprehend exactly how fragile our freedoms are ? Sincerely , Claire B.
Tis long I’ve followed yon beckoning star
To seek I think what is the road too far
Since I’ve traveled long and I’ve traveled wide
And know the secrets that I need to hide,
Though all lessons taught were perfunctory
Yet each day held oh so much more to see
As the time wore on I’d begun to feel
What life’s all about is portrayed unreal !
Tis sad to think that you and I
Too soon will take our last goodbye
It’s been so very long indeed
I know not how we shall proceed,
The time has gone the end draws near
Remember, I still hold you dear.
We have been friends forever now
It’s time to cut the chain somehow
And when and if there comes that day
When either one should go away
It’s not because we did not care
It’s that one is no longer there !
The heavy crush of busy streets
Onlookers streaming everywhere
In flip-flops, sneakers, shoes with cleats
A world of madness we all share.
The hawkers, conmen, charlatans
All crowding round their corner carts
Beware the city’s denizens
In great rush to display their arts.
The simple act of walking out
And window shopping just for fun
Enjoying all the scenes about
May be precarious for some!
What is it that men mean to say
Their words keep getting in the way
Feint tongues are stumbling o’er their teeth
Failing to state what’s underneath ?
Much easier to honest be
When will they learn that truth is free ?
This simple child can barely speak
Tears trickle down the grimy cheek
With fear resigned upon the face
How do we live with such disgrace ?
There is no way to cure this ill
It truly seems a bitter pill
Until nations do change their mind
And hopefully some honor find !
Believe the angels in the sky
Shed tears of shame while passing by
Behavior cannot be endowed
God make it be aright somehow !
Can you perceive each shadows movement in the hall
Distorted shapes that spring and bounce along the wall ?
These need to wait till day is done and loses sight
Before they cavort and dance and play by firelight,
And so each eve they leap and bound upon the stairs
So thin and tall their prancings catch you unawares !
They frolic up and down the cabinets and sides
Grotesque shapes and sizes you don’t recognise.
I think that shadows are great fun to watch at night
That is if you remind yourself, switch on the light.
Here in our world the truth reacts in manner same
Phantoms of a lie twist your vision and your aim
The truth at best will keep your earthly values straight
Its shadows will not echo in your life or fate !
I feel so light I want to fly
On eagle wings into the sky
To some deep woodland far away
Where unseen creatures live and play.
To breathe the air our fathers knew
When times were kind and purpose true
There seek some spot with peace content
To ponder where our ethics went.
My arms will fail me if I try
The problem is that I don’t fly !
