I’m waiting for the waning light
To join the nothings of the night
As quiet settles over me
Increasing life’s tranquility
The silence hovers still and stark
How comforting I find the dark !
I’m waiting for the waning light
To join the nothings of the night
As quiet settles over me
Increasing life’s tranquility
The silence hovers still and stark
How comforting I find the dark !
There was a land all thought was best
Throughout the world it aced each test
But arrogance got in the way
And ignorance ruled o’er the day.
Sometimes it pays to silence keep
Let others dig the hole that deep
Learn to be thankful, grateful too
Praise God, He will be there for you !
Tis true that I would like to know
Which way the busy winds do blow
And how steep will the waves all be
Crashing in the cold winter’s sea ?
Will the tide come rushing ashore
Just as the moon rises once more
To greet its eventide asea
Amidst life’s crisis and debris ?
The beauty of this world so much beyond compare
The joy of God’s magnificence we’re meant to share,
The pleasure to be seen by all of those who care
Remembering His love it always will be there !
A little bird sat on the sill
He comes to visit me at will
I’m oh so glad that he stops by
He helps the lonely hours to fly
And sometimes when I’m extra sad
Reminds me of the joys I’ve had.
Once was when times were very young
And one by one our dreams were strung
Across the tethers of the heart
Love never got its break or start
Much like that little bird I see
Perhaps exists some chance for me !
This land is mine, for you and me
With mountains high from sea to sea
Her waterfalls and rivers wide
High fields above, deep caves inside
Border to border, edge to edge
Yosemite to Pikes Peak’s ledge !
This vision of our nation’s health
Or beauty of her splendor’s wealth
Is ours, the gift of God above
That teaches us the proof of love
While we in turn are thankful for
His benefits that lie in store !
AMEN !
Who was it launched a thousand ships
To save his love from foreign lips
And tried so hard to capture Troy
The ones who stole his pride and joy ?
This man of honor fought to save
His loved one from that reckless knave
Now Paris was his given name
His battles brought to him great fame.
But ten years on, their fight did end
That Trojan Horse was just pretend
It did the trick to win the day
All thought the Spartans went away.
Homer told this tale we all know
Going back, oh so long ago
By now it’s part of history
A true intrigueing mystery !
Who hears the sound of running feet
Our world reverberates defeat
While strangers view the failing trend
When will this anger ever end ?
How tired have we all become
With vision clear to only some ?
My passion washes down the drain
Promising no, not e’er again
The silence closes in once more
Too soon our Lord may bar the door !
I feel somehow a pending urge
As all my fears and passions merge
The path to seek a higher road
Henceforth to carry life’s great load
And find a place where each may rest
Before attempting life’s contest !
I love You Lord, that’s without end
Because You are my bestest Friend
Through thick and thin, You’re on my side
To You alone I can confide.
I need to laugh and bide with joy
You’ve helped me Lord my faith employ
Whatever You will ask of me
So quickly Lord, I do agree.
And if dear Lord we never meet
The thought of You is still as sweet
Whatever else that You may choose
I’m confident, I cannot lose !
Well here I am alone at last
Safe from the power of times long past
Wherein my search I’ve tried my best
To comprehend what is the quest.
The answer softly doth resound
With all the love that each has found
And thus it is we seek respite
While gentle speaks the last goodnight !
My life’s reduced to little things
Like pleasant sounds of pigeon’s wings
The fluttering of window blinds
When misty rain and wind combines,
A fog that clouds my every thought
And questions all that I’ve been taught.
Seems nothing’s left to salve my heart
Before my journey gets a start !
Well there it is, seems miles away
I’m not sure that I want to stay
It’s too much trouble to keep track
I’d like to have my courage back.
My life is slipping from my hand
I’ve lost control, I lack command
It seems there’s no one left to hear
Solutions have become unclear.
My world grows smaller day by day
I pray and hope I’ll find my way !
The wind and trees communing near
Share a language that we can’t hear
The rustling leaves stand on their toes
Assured which way each breeze now blows
The tenure of the branches sway
Sending its message to clear the way
The smallest lift aft day is done
Displays to all a contest won !
I’ve heard the stories told by men
Of events took place way back when
Catastrophes of world wide note
About which men of science wrote
Sagas of danger we have heard
Chock full of facts in every word.
They spin tales of this our Lord’s earth
In detail and for all its worth
Assured that God creates it all
Through summer, winter, spring or fall
I find in this no mystery
Just part of His Divinity !
As we age there’s much greater fears
Sometimes our days begin with tears
Not from the aches we used to know
When we were fresh and game to go
Teardrops may fall with passing time
Searching for the end of our climb
Ask fates that be to tell us why
At this late stage it’s norm to cry
The growing process is too real
While we await God’s final deal !
Oh Mother Earth where is your charm
That beauty we’re depending on
Falling snow and icicle balm
Creating scenes to wish upon.
While winter frost that melts in spring
Uncovers nature’s blossoming
So like a dream meandering
Will hear the forests gossiping !
I love the pictures of the snow
Where e’er you look, where e’er you go
The skies are polka-dotted too
With snowflakes drifting over you
While here and there no space is bare
The snow’s piling up everywhere !
The storms of winter blow wet and wild
Enough to threaten both man and child
With the fury of weather’s power
Enough to caution both day and hour.
God’s creatures must hide or run away
As these conditions seem here to stay
There appears to be little to do
But sit back and say a prayer or two !
There is a place beyond our dreams
Where life is peaceful so it seems
But nature never is at rest
It struggles long to keep abreast
We cannot claim we do not know
It follows all where ere we go.
The world itself can make no change
Without man’s aid to rearrange
The complications that we see
Placed there by inhumanity !
This world we know is dying fast
It seems that peace will never last
In truth it cannot ever win
There is no way we can begin.
The die was cast too long ago
There’s no route left to touch or grow
How sad that we have come this far
To barely reach or touch the bar.
We’ll bow our heads in feigned surprise
Since we have caused our own demise !
How often I have wished that I
Could spread my wings and learn to fly
O’er mountain peaks there rising high
Across the meadows whisking by
The waters stretched to touch the sky
While gravity on earth denies.
Along the ridges wide and dry
Where eaglets nest and flight imply
I hear the mighty oceans sigh
And whisper to this world goodbye !
GOD BLESS HIS WORLD !
There is one joy each day may bring
Your choice to laugh or dance and sing
To smile, enjoy or to correct
Some error made or to expect
Perhaps a chance to walk with God
And tread the path our forebears trod.
To share a bit of helping hand
Pick up the pieces or expand
Then comprehend the value of
Undaunted courage laced with love
A time to aid when there is need
Or teach another to succeed !
Across the miles of earth and sky
The days of man are flashing by
How long before this age has passed
And we receive its final blast ?
Seems there’s no voice now reaching out
Explaining what it’s all about
We need a word, some sort of sign
Assuring us there still is time
A book of rules, instructions too
From experts on what we must do
To cover each iota of
God’s wisdom and His words of love !
A child is but the whisper of
The troth between a man and maid
And proof of their eternal love
Created with God’s help and aid !
The thoughts that gather round my brain
I struggle hard to keep contained
Because I wish to use the best
To help me try to ace God’s test.
I see how this world writhes in pain
Without some effort, there’s no gain
If God inspires our every act
Perhaps we’ll learn to honor fact !
My heart goes out to those I love
And those that I think highly of
To all who honor glory and
Work hard to help and heal the land.
Our youth and those who dedicate
Their lives to save this world from hate
Like those who rise most every day
That keep us safe from evil’s sway.
To all who’ve sacrificed their limbs
And those who wind up war’s victims
But most of all to those who gave
Their everything some peace to save !
