Old winter is around the bend
Not long before the year does end
The weather seems much colder now
Sure it will be alright somehow
We’ll bundle up and drink some cheer
And beg of God a great new year !
WITH MARSHMALLOWS TOO !
Old winter is around the bend
Not long before the year does end
The weather seems much colder now
Sure it will be alright somehow
We’ll bundle up and drink some cheer
And beg of God a great new year !
WITH MARSHMALLOWS TOO !
Oh can you hear the constant sound
Of weather rageing all around
We’re in the middle of a storm
That’s taken such an ugly form.
I’m glad that I am not outside
The wind might take me for a ride
Although perhaps that could be fun
If only we’d a bit of sun !
Tis true that I would like to know
Which way the busy winds do blow
And how steep will the waves all be
Crashing in the cold winter’s sea ?
Will the tide come rushing ashore
Just as the moon rises once more
To greet its eventide asea
Amidst life’s crisis and debris ?
Get out your mufflers, gloves and boots
I feel today may be a hoot
Our world is white and freezing too
There is much we have left to do.
I wish that we might build a fort
With slabs of snow the way we ought
The way we did so long ago
When winter brought us all that snow
But times have changed and so have we
Let us move on to victory !
I see the willows in the wind
They flutter wildly to and fro
The leaves and branches slightly thinned
With lacy arms all swaying so.
The wind does whip through all the trees
That bend and twist before the gale
And feel the crispness of the breeze
As it fast fills each waiting sail !
I hear a foghorn in the mist
Its throaty call, sandpaper kissed
Swaying branches shiver and shake
You’d think the sky was gonna’ break.
I love the sound of stormy skies
When lightning strikes and crackle flies
The weather comes, it goes astray
It spins about then skulks away !
Can you hear the tumult of the wind
It whines aloud that it be let in
The shutters tremble, the shingles roar
Can you feel the rattlng of the door ?
The mighty wind blows so fierce and loud
Where it gets caught bullying each cloud
Why won’t it move in a calmer way
And save its power for another day ?
The wind is chill, the fire’s gone cold
The nights are long, the world’s grown old
The forest’s dark, there is no sound
How do God’s creatures get around ?
The wolf, the owl, the chipmunk too
All feel the cold just like we do
How can we save our wildlife friends
Until this season finally ends ?
We have about five weeks or more
Before the spring walks through the door
Let’s pray we all will have good luck
And the warm weather gets unstuck !
Today is gray it’s dark and cold
The winds that blow are swift and bold
There is a chill that fills the air
Keep searching for the warmth somewhere.
There is no cozy place to stay
No comfy soft warm hideaway
We’ll have to tough it out I guess
By wearing wool and overdress !
Well, thoughts are things and birds have wings,
Feathers come from geese and egret
The sparrow trills,the robin sings
And crows caw too loud in regret.
The skylark sings when sailing high
As falcons swoop from lofty nest
The hawk, he zooms up in the sky
Although I think the owl’s the best !
The lonely dove does pine for love
While the eagle mates forever
The world is round, blue skies above
Can that change the outcome, never !
The winds that blow and bring us snow
Seem without rhyme or reason
And force most birds to southward go
Till we reach a better season !
There is a chill it’s in the air
From tingling toes to face and hair
And warns that winter’s on the way
But doesn’t say how long she’ll stay.
Oh please old crones that rule the wind
Be kind to those who are thin-skinned
Take care they’re safe from all the cold
Though winter’s force be ever bold !
Looks like it’s time to settle in
Time for a game of bridge or gin
Perhaps we could do Scrabble too
I’m pretty good at words, are you ?
Of course I’d rather be outside
But there’s no place that we can hide
The weather is not playing fair
And drizzle’s raining ev’rywhere !
It seems to me that nature rules
Things that we do, tools that we use
This happened aft the world became
Under the dominance of Cain !
I feel a chill, it fills the air
The sun’s asleep I know not where
Today’s the day of our black moon
I truly hope it shows up soon.
Oh how much I desire to see
Celestial sights with clarity
Since there’s no shining moon tonight
God’s skies o’erhead twill be e’er bright !
I feel the power of the storm
It’s crying out, move on, move on
The wind it lashes through the trees
And carries off all of the leaves.
The rain in torrents pouring down
Reminds us that we all could drown
Oh what a fear that we must bear
Tomorrow’s sorrows, ours to share.
If we can make it past the night
And chance survive until daylight
Perhaps exists the hope that we
May live through this catastrophe !
Today I’d rather stay in bed
And pull the covers o’er my head
I won’t adventure from my room
Except to make food to consume.
I can’t recall when last I heard
That global warming was absurd
Right now I don’t mind where I go
As long as it is void of snow !
On a summer eve you can see heat rise
It shimmers and floats there before your eyes
The steaming waves seem to reach for the skies
Before morning dew greets the fog’s demise !
My heart feels tight, my brain is numb
I cannot speak, I’m overcome
The winds rush by, I feel confined
It seems as though I’ve lost my mind !
The weather breaks, the dawn’s arrived
The sun is here, my world survived
The storm has passed, we’ll be okay
And guaranteed another day.
There’s passion in all natures schemes
Some are nightmares but some are dreams !
