The dampness seeps inside the glass
And seems to weep along the pane
A labyrinth of life’s morass
Attacking all, again, again.
Oh would that we might rule the path
And currents that control the Main
With the power like our God hath
To teach some manners to the rain !
I miss the peace of morning sounds
The tender tug that calm expounds
The smell of coffee in the air
It seems to be most everywhere
The gentle hum as life revives
Before the world becomes alive
The quiet lull before the dawn
That signals all, here comes the morn !
I need to see their faces old, the ones I can remember
I’ve journeyed long and journeyed far from May through late December
And all I want is to be sure that we do not surrender
What little time that we have left before we breach life’s ender !
The world is dying all around
I sense a shaking of the ground
What is this that’s now happening
God’s prophecies awakening ?
Has time run out and left us here
To ruminate or shed a tear ?
What does this mean to all of us
And will it cause a giant fuss ?
I’m not sure of the sound it brings
Sometimes I think it’s angel’s wings
Perhaps that what I’m wishing for
Some path to open heaven’s door !
My heart thanks God for each new day
My mind seeks out a nobler way
I’ve tried to find some answers here
A firmer faith, a path that’s clear
While time grows wings and seems to fly
The hours add up and multiply
Before we know it, we are done
And all accept the setting sun !
The moon must be up in the sky
I have this feeling I could cry
But there is nothing wrong with me
Not anything that I could see ?
Perhaps the stars got in my eyes
While I was busy watching skies
Or maybe Venus went astray
In retrograde and lost her way.
This horoscope will have to keep
I think it’s time to go to sleep !
Sweet cherry blossoms filled the air
They fluttered frantic with despair
And twirled above the barren ground
As all their blooms were settling down.
Their color faded in the mist
Where raindrops and warm breezes kissed
Their crumbled blossoms ruled the street
Where silken ashes cushioned feet !
I’d like to think that when I’m gone
This world about will carry on
Promote all hope or let’s pretend
That peace resides around the bend.
Of course we know this is not so
No matter where it is we go !
A kindly thought, a gentle word
Not either one would be absurd
Man and angel share one accord
True faith in God, trust in the Lord !
What parent would their obligation waive
To save their child from complications grave ?
An admonition we’ve known from the start
About what God holds sacred in His heart,
This father’s son asking for bits of bread
Would give his child a bit of stone instead ?
Sometimes the world is full of gloom
Its sadness darkens every room
The seasons change, they come and go
From springtime’s warmth to winter’s snow.
Days roll on by with no account
Midst tears and sighs in great amount
And justice finds it needs a place
To challenge evil’s false embrace.
What was has been and is no more
Once lost will never be restored
The saddest words that one can say
Oh Absalom, you’ve gone astray !
Too soon the morning sounds arrive
Informing all we’re still alive
Outside a bird begins to cheep
To certify we’re not asleep.
I hear the sound of running feet
A dog is barking in the street
Mid tires traversing on the road
As trucks pass bearing heavy load.
The stress and strain commence once more
Ere we have stepped outside the door
I can’t believe today’s begun
We’ve barely time to greet the sun !

The night was dark and cool and clear
The air around was free of fear
As I recall it used to be
When life was happy and carefree.
We laughed and cried and fussed a lot
About what’s fair and what was not
Though not one person would declare
That their own treatment was unfair !
We lived and dreamed our lives away
Believing each, from day to day
This was our homeland, small or large
Where bullies never were in charge !
I’d like to be a bug somewhere
That’s born to life without a care
I’d settle for a cricket too
But they have other jobs to do.
A beetle or a frog is fine
Or caterpillar on a vine,
I’m guessing that I’d choose the last
A butterfly might be a blast !
This is the first I can recall
I find my back against the wall
It all seems strange with no debrief
There is scant time to seek relief.
We flounder in life’s deep morass
Without the aid of skill or class
I wonder what the future brings
Along with normal happenings.
Shall we survive until the end
In need of courage and a friend
Let’s say the prayer we all know well
And to the Lord our wishes tell !

I have thought myself alone
On the precipice of fate
With the hope I can atone
As it’s never out of date.
I have dreamt for many years
That our dreams are not quite real
But reflections of our fears
And the passions that we feel !
At times I sense a whistle
As it rides upon the wind
There silent as the thistle
While it begs, “please let me in”.
When the moment seems to die
And the quiet does not bend
All the world whispers “goodbye”
And each friendship must now end !
If I could sail across the waves
Upon the seas and pass the caves
Where stories speak of mystery
Oh, what a sight that one might see !
A world exists outside our mind
Where legend and adventure wind
I’d be a traveler at best
Who roams the oceans without rest.
Oh what adventure that would be
Escaping time’s reality
To follow where the birds dare fly
And worship God in His own sky !
I’d like to think God’s on my side
When I begin to slip and slide
Perhaps e’en tumble down some hill
Like that famous pair, Jack  and Jill !
How wonderful that we may be
A part of Christ’s own victory
When good will triumph over all
And destiny will not be stalled
Let’s all standup and cheer aloud
Be grateful we have joined His crowd  !
Have you observed how eagles fly
Into the reaches of the sky,
This symbol of our history
Proud emblem of our dignity ?
They move across celestial space
Embued with God’s unflinching grace
We’re told that eagles mate for life
I still can’t tell which is the wife !
Their eyesight is invincible
Two miles away and they can tell
How wonderful that eagles thrive
Please God, let’s keep them all alive !
The time is now, the end appears
We can’t escape, the climax nears
Tis karma for the empty years
We are prepared to face our fears !
Like the ashes from the ember
We have promised to remember
Will it last this way forever
I can hear the answer, never !
There are these fields here in my dream
Where flowers in abundance gleam
Their warm and vibrant colors seem
To mirror sunshine and its beam !
I sailed down mem’ry lane today
Reviewing things that we might say
And thought about it long and hard
I wonder, have you embraced God ?
Since you and I did not agree
On ways each handled destiny
I’d like to think we shared a view
Of all that would be right to do.
Now you’ve been gone for quite awhile
You earned your honor hero style
This is one lesson you’ve taught me
There’s no coward in victory !
Let’s pull the bell and ring the chimes
It’s time to welcome latter times
We’ll sing a hymn and raise each voice
To praise the Lord and make our choice.
The day is come, remember this
Christ was betrayed by but one kiss
Oh Judas, if you could have known
Would you have chosen to stay home ?
Accursed your name forever is
Throughout the world, both ours and His
I am so sad you’ve earned this fame
God save us all in Jesus’ name !
Oh Santa Claus, dear Santa Claus
This is the wrong time of the year
However, I need ask because
Too soon the holidays are here.
We get so very bothered now
Just trying to keep up with life
It’s slipt away, I don’t know how
Between our courage and our strife.
I’d like to think that you and I
Perhaps could share the central theme
While knowing one day all shall die
Each needs accept both scheme and dream !
The signs of life are all around
My heart does quicken with their sound
I feel the pulsing of the beat
It seems to echo down the street.
See there the movement  in and out
Each quiver likened to one shout
Oh gentle dove, I hear your  “coo”
What is it I may do for you ?
We operate in finite ways
This is the vision of our days
Life’s aspects all are in accord
Each day shall bear its own reward !
A tender thought, a gentle kiss
Remembrance of the moment’s bliss
A kindly word, instant treasure
Memories of constant pleasure
These are results of many dreams
That culminate in joyous scenes.
Our world writhes in much angst and pain
It begs such effort to contain
We need more care to educate
And simple souls to formulate
A pattern of life’s give and take
As we weave through its make or break !
An early light knifes through the dark
The air is still and calmly stark
A silence rises from the ground
One can’t discern a single sound.
Before the morning does begin
There is a chill that settles in
Starting at toes, it makes the trip
To limbs and then to fingertips !
How much longer must all await
To learn the judgement of our fate
In truth we know what we have got
God is the Judge, this is His shot !
When I look up into the sky
So full of creatures that do fly
Where images that catch my eye
May mix with clouds here passing by.
Imagination can’t restore
What it is we are searching for
That special something most adore
A secret gift behind each door.
The world is full of guile and guise
Beneath the sea, above the skies
We live in times of great disguise
Truth is hidden amongst the lies !
