My heart thanks God for each new day
My mind seeks out a nobler way
I’ve tried to find some answers here
A firmer faith, a path that’s clear
While time grows wings and seems to fly
The hours add up and multiply
Before we know it, we are done
And all accept the setting sun !
There is a darkness that I see
It gently closes over me
The shades of night begin to fall
The shadows seem to cover all.
There is a quiet that I seek
And feel no need to eye or peek
There are no words that I must say
For now is time to bid good day !
There’s no morning sunshine or even setting sun
When our lives are over and all of this is done
And sadly through the mist as life has passed us by
There’s no time left to think or laugh or wave goodbye !
