How often is it that we think
This world of ours is on the brink ?
What e’er occurs within our sight
No matter if it’s left or right
Should savour all despite the fear
God’s Judgement Day moves ever near !
Whatever war that has been fought
Tis one more lesson to be taught
For no one wins as each has lost
And every war does have great cost.
Sometimes it takes a lifetime long
To hear the ring of freedom’s song
There is a price that all must pay
To win the battle of the day.
Therefore when lives do meet their end
And each has chosen foe and friend
The choice one makes on that last day
Will stand forever, come what may !
An early light knifes through the dark
The air is still and calmly stark
A silence rises from the ground
One can’t discern a single sound.
Before the morning does begin
There is a chill that settles in
Starting at toes, it makes the trip
To limbs and then to fingertips !
How much longer must all await
To learn the judgement of our fate
In truth we know what we have got
God is the Judge, this is His shot !
Nay, do not flail against the darkness
That is a battle you cannot win
There’s but one way to beat its starkness
Just use a candle to bring light in !
Some place there is a winding stair
Where does it go I do not know
I’m only sure it will be there
When ’tis the time for each to go !
But what direction shall one take
For stairs descend or rise above
You have a choice, make no mistake
The coward’s safety or God’s love !
This heart of mine that has known fear
Is old and tired, pock-marked and sere
And has no time for words unclear
Or foolish thoughts too insincere !
The problem if one feels inclined
To make excuse for acts unkind
When rather is, it should not be
The power of God must flower free !
Scant time is left to make amends
To heal the wounds or curry friends
In days to come we must decide
Will we partake that final ride !
