How grand is it to seek one’s dream
Far better than it mayhaps seem
For dreams are wishes not yet true
Without a boost from me or you.
Tis quite okay to ponder why
Some dreams may fade and often die
Perhaps that strength required to win
Needs faith in God to help begin !
How simple all our lives might be
If wrapped in God’s security
So we could make the truth our goal
And bury lies in some vast hole.
T’would save us all from Satan’s reach
And to the world a lesson teach
That all may know of God’s intent
And to our lives danger prevent !
There is a shadow that we fear
Its size increasing year by year
It towers o’er our greatest aim
And poses threats to God’s good name,
The world appears to welcome all
Who answer to old Satan’s call
While sadly, they may do his will
Until their lives at last are still.
Oh Lord above, please bring us peace
From evil’s grip grant us release,
Help us accept Your quiet ways
Increase our love and guard our days !
The sky is full of bits of cloud
With some that fairly shout aloud
They gather with each wind that blows
In shapes both recognized or posed.
So like an army on the move
That does its best to heav’n improve
And paints us pictures way up high
To keep us focused on God’s sky !
The years have been passing, one by one
Since this world we live in has begun
Now that’s a longtime by anyone’s gauge
Getting us all to setup the stage.
So now here we are ready to go
Grasping our dreams and hoping to grow,
Give us a boost and help us succeed
Grant us the strength to standup and lead !
There is a noise I hear so clear
Of chaos ringing on my ear
Machinelike thumping banging round
External scraping on the ground,
The buzz of saws and screeching tires
A twisted mass of falling wires,
Oh what a sight this morn has brought
As city streets in storm are caught !
There is this sadness I can’t shake
Sometimes I feel my heart shall break
I’ve trod so many paths to find
Some place where fears safely unwind.
Since I have been a little child
With conscience and a manner mild
I’ve tried to be my whole life through
To all my hopes and dreams true blue.
Somehow that’s never quite enough
Because life’s road is long and tough
The battle wages on and on
With only sand to build upon !
I have met an angel in my dreams
Who’s more helpful than an angel seems
All shapes and sizes is how they come
Short and tall, while slim or stout are some.
An angel is a child of the Lord
Whose aim is true and of God’s accord
I’d love an angel for my best friend
Cause they’ll be there till the very end !
My heart flies high, it has grown wings
My soul so free that now it sings
Strains of music to teach us dance
Each moment brings a new romance.
The world round me is full of joy
With happiness one needs employ
However long that we are free
May God bless all we chance to be !
As I reflect on years gone by
And all the times I’ve said goodbye
To those faces I have adored
With so much feeling that I’ve stored
In the recess of my best part
The center of my loving heart.
Hold on, hold on, we’re not yet done
There is lots more that is to come
Open your arms and your heart too
Because your best is up to you !
I’ve often wondered what it is I’d do
If I had the chance to begin anew
I’m not so sure that I should venture there
Without someone Special willing to care,
For life on one’s own can be a bit much
Especially if you have lost your touch
How I do wish that tomorrow may bring
Another day with a sweet song to sing
To open my eyes and give me the will
To reach out to God for His magic pill !
Do you know why I’m missing you
From early morn till nightfall too
I cannot bear you are not here
Please bundle up, get back in gear.
The sky is falling, have you heard
My heart hangs onto every word
Tis true, I shan’t see you again
But no regrets, remember when !
TO FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES DEPARTED FROM MY LIFE
Seems I’ve not known the comfort of
A world steeped in God’s peace and love
There’s ne’er a day to pass us by
Without excuse for one to try
I’ve wished so long to understand
It takes more than a sleight of hand.
We need some hope that we may win
A fair chance to again begin
Or knowledge where the pitfalls are
Before we try to reach a star
What is it we are searching for,
God’s magic touch to open doors ?
The scenes of summer quickly fly
Like angel wings across the sky
Reminding all that life is fleet
And full of days both sad and sweet.
The memories of yesterday
Sometimes get lost along the way
The seasons come and then they go
For we shall reap as we do sow !
Can you remember what it’s like
To spread your wings and feel grown up
When I was but a tiny tyke
I learned to sip the grownup cup
And now I’m old I can’t excuse
The habits I’ve acquired since then
I wish somehow I could refuse
And to be young once more again.
Oh blessed Lord so much to see
In this new world of let’s pretend
We’ll try our best to gracious be
And hold on tight before the end !
The open window invites the breeze
To sashay in from beneath the trees
Take a dance around a room or two
Sharing fresh air between me and you.
Enjoy the night times secret pleasure
Amidst the joys we all do treasure
Remember how fast the seasons fly
Before we each have to bid goodbye
As the nights grow cool before the dawn
And the years we loved are too soon gone !
When I was young, my dad he died
And left us so dried up inside
There was no way to help explain
The basic anguish or the pain,
Through all these years we’ve hid it well
And never did that sadness tell
It’s simply there reminding me
Of all that life once used to be
It’s too late now, none can catch up
This heritage is our sad cup !
There are times my pain evinces fears
And burdens life with unwanted tears
Moments when one is upended by
A lack of concern or passersby
Please help me Lord, so I may erase
The spell of doom that now clouds my face !
Whatever war that has been fought
Tis one more lesson to be taught
For no one wins as each has lost
And every war does have great cost.
Sometimes it takes a lifetime long
To hear the ring of freedom’s song
There is a price that all must pay
To win the battle of the day.
Therefore when lives do meet their end
And each has chosen foe and friend
The choice one makes on that last day
Will stand forever, come what may !
Oh my dear child, what can I do
To be of aid and help to you
Please tell me what it is you need
I’ll try to follow as you lead.
Tis time for you to stand up tall
Assume your burden ere you fall
Our God is Witness, heed His word
What e’er is spoke we all have heard !
Now I have been a child of God at every blessed age
And I have lived in awe of Him through every growing stage
I’ve hoped and wished and dreamt that He will hear my urgent plea
Oh gracious Lord, I love You so, please be my destiny !
There is a madness in the air
I’m ever grateful I’m not there
What is it that these people seek
For all this havoc that they reek.
Our world is drowning all around
With anger that does most confound
If someone doesn’t take the lead
Responding with the proper speed
Who is it that will save this place
And our whole nation from disgrace ?
A little child did pray to God
“Please bring my daddy home to me
Without him here our lives are hard
He fought a war to set us free “.
This message went upon its way
Just hoping that none will forget
To send that daddy home to stay
Before their joy becomes regret !
For all I am or pray to be
Or all that I shall ever see
Of life revolving around me
Please save me from infinity !
Our lives are full of sadness and things that have gone astray
For who can face the madness and the pain of yesterday
Oh Lord, we do miss the dreams that have come and gone away
But who can bear this agony we live with day by day ?
Have you e’er pondered over angel wings
How they could get caught in our worldly things
Such as doors, windows and archways or screens
Or limbs of trees or in branches of greens ?
How do they manage to dress up each day
Looking so sweet in angelic display
I wonder if they wear stockings or boots
Do they prefer eating ice cream or fruits ?
Isn’t it strange that we know nothing more
Of where they’ve been until now and before
I’d sure like to find some lessons to use
To help me decide which pathway to choose !
The fury rages overhead
Encouraging chaos instead
How long will their insanity
Assault this homeland of the free ?
There are no bridges left to cross
Nor any mountains left to climb
It’s too late now to pitch and toss
Because we have run out of time.
There is no point in looking back
The curtains drawn, the page is blank
The horse got spooked and left the track
And no one’s here we need to thank.
We have no reason now to try
I cannot ask the how and when
Believe that love just passed us by
And will not come this way again !
