Oh little man,where have you gone
What costume is it you have on
Which role is this you’re playing now
While on life’s stage to take a bow ?
I’ve seen the many hats you wear
I’d like to help you get to there
Unless I know where that place is
I’m helpless cause I am no whiz !
Oh little man, when you are grown
And roots of dreams have been well sown
Please tell me what I need to do
To help you make your wish come true !
I wish that I had nerves of steel
So every pinprick that I feel
Would never bring a single ache
Into my life or cause heartbreak.
I always thought that I was strong
But I know now how I was wrong
And find myself in quite a mess
I’m so confused, I must confess.
Seems all the stuff I did believe
Was part of my own self-deceive
When will I learn to standup tall
Keep faith with God and heed His call ?
Oh Superman, what shall I do
I need some one who’s just like you
A hero brave will not suffice
He must be wise and extra nice.
Besides his strength, he must be kind
With all the courage one can find
Cause this is a tremendous task
There is a favor I must ask !
I am no longer young but old
Not of much use or so I’m told
This world we live in has a crack
We want to have our freedom back
There’s no one left to make it right
Could you please fix it overnight ?
There’s a stranger in my parlor
How did he get inside
I thought I heard his noisy chirp
Wherever does he hide ?
Well, never mind the sound he makes
I need to find him how,
The miracle of all of this
He’s in my house right now !
I guess I’ll learn to live with him
What else is there to do
Perhaps one day he’ll say farewell
Goodbye and toodle-loo !
Oh foul device and evil intent
Of those whose motive to harm was meant
With all of our tears that have been spent
God with purpose our lives reinvent !
There is a sound I love to hear
A bugle call upon my ear
Its brassy tone does thrill my heart
And chills my spine right from the start
My hair all seems to stand on end
As tones and notes begin to blend.
What started as a hunting horn
Before the age of bronze was born
Evolved into what we now know
The bugle calls to troops they blow !
Who has not shed a thousand tears
To rid themselves of earthly fears
And all of this to no avail
As man’s inclined to often fail.
Now what are we but impotent
In this our world of God’s invent
Let’s settle in remembering
That He determines everything !
Dear Lord above, I’d like to know
When day is done where do You go
Is there one place that You’re fond of
Some hideaway or spot You love ?
So glorious it must be grand
A product of His own blest hand,
How wonderful that God is The
Creator of Eternity !
It seems to me this world is strange
From ocean’s edge to mountain range
With valleys lower than the sea
And plains as far as eyes can see.
A land of forests, hills with ruins
Lakes, rivers, streams and desert dunes
A coastline full of coves and bays
With swamps and marshes in a maze,
Mass spectacles of God’s delights
This place of dreams and hope incites
Such passion in her people here
They shall not dare to live in fear !
Oh tiny chick safe in the nest
Your mama knows what is the best
As she secures you all around
While perking up at each new sound
Then darting off to find a feast
To feed her brood before release,
Oh little bird how will you fare
When your mama’s no longer there ?
Oh little child so full of dreams
Life isn’t always as it seems
The door of hope is not quite free
It may not open up for thee.
Just wait awhile and softly pray
That God above will save each day
For it is He who blesses all
And answers when the children call.
Be not afraid He’ll keep you there
Close to His heart and in His care !
I see the willows in the wind
They flutter wildly to and fro
The leaves and branches slightly thinned
With lacy arms all swaying so.
The wind does whip through all the trees
That bend and twist before the gale
And feel the crispness of the breeze
As it fast fills each waiting sail !
There is a place just above Nod
Where everyone has faith in God,
The children and the angels too
Are in accord with me and you
They say their prayers and read God’s book
And good deeds glow where e’er you look.
Oh how I wish that I could be
A member of that colony
Perhaps if I try very hard
One day I too may bide with God !
Let us not make waste of all our days
By holding on to life’s former ways
Let us lift our heads and hearts besides
To stem the crush and the flood of tides.
Let’s make an effort to strive once more
To welcome the Lord through our front door
Time has come for us to make a choice
Stand up for faith, start using your voice !
There is a chill pervades the air
One feels the wind rush up the stair
The smell of fall upon the breeze
Floats gently by, soft as you please
A silence bides there in the room
Akin to patience, not to gloom.
The moments pass unnoticed now
As signs of autumn show somehow
Slowly the leaves begin to change
From light to dark the colors range
We wait here on the edge of fate
Pray God our time is not too late !
A little cheer, a soft hooray
Let’s all enjoy another day
Be grateful for the sun and air
And all those joys that we may share .
The Lord does bless all of our deeds
And keeps fulfilling present needs
Wherein we fall asleep each night
Sweet dreams of angels speed our flight.
They shadow us where e’er we’re sent
The morrow brings its own content !
As dawn awakes across the land
The sun prepares for her grandstand
Her magic glory wiil be seen
As vision fit for king or queen.
The splendor of day’s beauty bright
Engenders an unending light
For who will know the value of
God’s benefits and selfless love ?
The sky is grey, the weather’s drear
Last days of summertime are here
The air is heavy, full of scent
I wonder where the sunshine went ?
Let’s sing a song of sweet goodbye
Take a deep breath and heave a sigh
The day’s arrived to pack away
Those remnants of our yesterday
I cannot promise I’ll be here
To celebrate, same time next year !
Our world is really in a mess
Growing much worse I must confess
Seems someone, though we don’t know who,
Has played his dirty trick or two
And left us all in one great bind
For some solution we must find.
We’re upside down and downside out
We’ve lost our strength and have no clout
So buckle up and gather strength
We need to go to any length
If we’re to win this bloody war
Tis just the fight we’re ready for !
Now in the distance you can hear
The chapel bells ring loud and clear
The sound it stretches cross the land
Bringing a joy most understand.
With voices raised the choirs sing
Those words of love from God our King
We hear you Lord and will obey
Please keep us safe from day to day !
What is it that we all should learn
When each of us must face our turn,
This world rotates with all about
We’re none excused nor few left out
For who’ll arrive at that sad space
Where in the end all take their place
To meet their Maker, brash or mild
As we’re nought but our Father’s child ?
I love you Mom, you’ll always be
My whole life through, a part of me.
All that I know and learned from you
Those lessons taught honest and true,
A kindly heart and pleasant way
The smile that starts and ends each day
A will to speak with joy and ease
The need to help, an aim to please.
These are the rules you set in place
I promise you, I will embrace !
My heart still bides upon a hill
I’ve never seen nor ever will
My life depends upon each word
Twas spoken that I’ve never heard.
All of my days shall ever be
Based on a man whom I shan’t see
I trust that every single word
Plus all of those I haven’t heard
Twill live with me until I die
Bidding to all blessed goodbye !
Oh silly goose where have you been
What puddles are you waddling in
Can you reduce that honking noise
Perhaps you could acquire more poise ?
Just love your feathers, oh so soft
That make it to my sleeping loft
Your tiny goslings are so sweet
Tis sad to think, one day they’re meat !
Besides your noisy geese chorus
There is much good you’ve brought to us
With tales from famous Mother Goose
Midst spins of twists and turns unloosed !
I’d like to believe that I am strong
That I can handle what comes along
Because my courage is loathe to fail
As I’m not a ship without a sail !
Some lessons in life have taught me well
I’ve tales of my own that I may tell
Please help me dear Lord to stand up tall
Or extend Your arms ere I should fall !
Circuitous is not my style
And never found to be worthwhile
Straight forward is my only choice
That’s where I opt to use my voice
I’ve learned with time that truth still pays
Thank God, it lightens all my days !
Oh how I wish that I might find
A path that’s safe and does not wind
The straightest road without a curve
Is more a choice than I deserve
For narrow as the options be
It is the route that pleases me !
Oh dearest Lord, please hear my plea
Create a stronger need in me
Help me to learn a kinder way
To face the challenge of each day !
