I thank you Lord, day after day
Your word does guide me on my way
I’m sure that You refill my cup
And when I fall You pick me up.
You’ve been my Friend a long, long time
Since I could stand or walk or climb
I never would have made it through
Without the help I’ve had from You.

Small matter what the world may say
There are no doubts about who’s Boss
In any game You win the toss !
In truth, we learn that life does fly
And soon we all must wave goodbye
We turn a corner, close a door
What is it all are waiting for ?
We cannot say, we do not know
Life’s mysteries won’t tell or show !
The night outside is dark and cold
I am so tired and far too old
Oh how I wish that I could sleep
But we have promises to keep
For in this world of let’s pretend
A few may care but more must mend.
Take a deep breath for a short while
Lift up your spirit, try a smile
Remember that the Lord is there
Depend on Him, He’s just and fair !
I am so glad the world’s not flat
We sure have had enough of that
And super heroes do not fly
We’ve put an end to that big lie.
Our noses will no longer spread
Spite of the fibs that we have said
We have been told so many things
Of spells and charms and magic rings.
The time has come to play it straight
And say a prayer we’re not too late
The truest hero we all know
Our Lord above, He loves us so !
I wish that I had nerves of steel
So every pinprick that I feel
Would never bring a single ache
Into my life or cause heartbreak.
I always thought that I was strong
But I know now how I was wrong
And find myself in quite a mess
I’m so confused, I must confess.
Seems all the stuff I did believe
Was part of my own self-deceive
When will I learn to standup tall
Keep faith with God and heed His call ?
I hear the sound of marching feet
Parading down lengths of main street
I heard the voice of those who died
With their last breath, they gave us pride.
The earth ran red with their lost blood
The tears they cried were like a flood
One cannot know what they would feel
Or understand there’s nothing real !
My heart is in the heavens, knocking at His door
I pray that God will hear me as He did before
And when my life is done and I have been set free
I pray that He will find a corner just for me!
I love you Lord, where ere I go
Your fingerprint is bound to show
The fields, the hills, the clouds above
See how the earth displays Your love.
The creatures that fill all the seas
Like those that form our fantasies
Both in the air and on the ground
Enjoy our earth and its surround,
You are the Maker and the King
Creator of our everything !
I’d like to think that life is kind
And prejudice is always blind
That government put to the test
Will always do what is the best
And children all will realise
That strength does not depend on size
Simple beliefs that most can trust
Should happen now because it must !
Help us oh Lord, teach us to pray
Lend us the words we need to say
How much we shall appreciate
God’s loving care and power great !
I try so very hard to see
The value of equality
But I have learned quite recently
That some are equal more than me !
Have you seen the trouble we are in
Our world’s tilted and in a spin
We’re upside down, we’ve lost our way
There’s nothing left for us to say.
We are not what we used to be
Our freedom is no longer free
The world we’ve known has disappeared
Transformed by lies and avid fear !
There is so much that I need say
Before it’s time to go away
To indicate just how I feel
With passions that are strong and real.
At times I’m sure I cannot win
The odds are stacked ere I begin
Please help me Lord make dreams come true
Grant me the strength to follow you !
There is this tale that we’ve been fed
That often shows or rapid goes
Sometimes it rushes to the head
Or travels down into the toes
It is a hope for all the joys
That everyone’s been sending
So full of care for girls and boys
Wishing all a happy ending !
At times I find I’m in a bind
That life has been unfair, unkind
I’m hopeful as new days unwind
There is some justice left to find !
EXCUSE ME but I have just returned home from another one of my medical adventures which are becoming more frequent as time passes. I am impelled to applaud many of the professionals who take their ER duty to the Nth degree ! There’s Danielle who daily travels from south Jersey to Hoboken regardless of traffic or weather. Or Joy, who moves around helping the patients attached to varied drips or machines reach the facilities or get a food tray or liquids, or Ado as he endlessly smiles and tends the infirm. And Frank who constantly manoeuvers the beds from one area to another during his shift, never making a sound ! When you have at last secured your bed space in the proper department, with the helping angels, nurses, aides like Marichelle, Maria, Michele, Kathy, Paolo and many others with their stream of endless care. We even experienced a real fire emergency on the 2nd day ! There are myriads of other workers, laundry, cleaning, maintenance like Carmen or Billy on their toes and alert. And the doctors, Simon, Orbelyan, Lim or Krish on the floor moving from room to room. There are nurse managers like IJ overseeing procedures and needs. But my favorite is the Chaplain Marjorie who has words to bring peace to all, group prayer, sing-a-long hymns. She is the soft spoken disciple of God who utters kind words of comfort and reason ! I’ve lately come to understand
That memories are ever grand
But only last a lifetime long
And to our history belong.
While words we place upon a page
Remain forever throughout age
With many lasting years and years
To heal our wounds, allay our fears.
We would not know about God’s word
If all those crowds had only heard
And scribes had then not set it down
For men to spread His words around !
Without faith there is nothing left but loneliness
Without God there is nothing more than emptiness !
We found our faith, both strong and mild
When most believed in the Christ Child
We sang His hymns and spread His prayer
Because we knew that He was there
Life seemed to be quite simple then
I wish we could go back again !
The hum of life is all around
Hear now its rapid growing sound
Why even bees get in their share
You’ll find they’re busy everywhere.
The leaves are rustling overhead
I wish I knew what’s being said
The world today’s a mystery
With much to learn and more to see
Oh blessed Lord why must we wait
For angels to unlock the gate ?
The Lord above is kind and sweet
And holds our hand e’en in defeat
He knows when we have had enough
And smooths the path when it is rough
God bless us all, may we survive
Until Lord Jesus will arrive !
Now I have trudged this rocky path
With angry crowds so full of wrath
I really don’t know what to think
Seems sanity is on the brink
There’s not much left to make great sense
The climate has become intense.
Participants are so inclined
Pretending to be dumb and blind
But stop before one does the deed
The rule in hand all must concede
The Lord demands that he alone
Who sinless be, cast the first stone !
For so it is and it will be
We need the truth to set us free
What is the cost of liberty
If we are blind or will not see ?
Sometimes my dear, the world we know
Is not the one we’d like to show
Sometimes coditions are not clear
As we are caught in doubt or fear
Please help us Lord fine tune our lives
In manner kind where goodness thrives !
I’m told that justice is quite blind
In all the truths that man does find
She is the judge who may deceive
But yet the one most will believe !
How sad that she must blinded be
Throughout the world’s vast infamy
Unfaithful to her name indeed
And traitor to her precious creed !
I loved my father I sure did
That is a fact I never hid
I wonder what he’d think of me
If he were here today to see.
With all the years that he’s been gone
Seems now to be a time too long
I wonder how we two might greet
If ever we should chance to meet ?
Well that is just pure fantasy
Though I sure wish that it could be !
We shall not run out of values at stake
That is an action that we will not take
For the facts are what this is all about
Either spoken gently or with a shout,
Only time can tell as each day rolls on
There is this thought that we depend upon.
When the winter’s young and the cold is new
We own the courage to make this come true
That as we age and experience mounts
There is the moment when true wisdom counts.
You may do your best making fools of all,
But who will stand at last clarion’s call ?
With timid breath and frosted heart
Too many wait for life to start !
