I never thought I’d rue the day
Once that I gave my heart away,
I stored my dreams upon the shelf
With no reserve about myself.
This life I planned of magic theme
Would ne’er become idyllic scheme

True happiness is never free
No matter how we try and try

This book was writ on parchment roll
And wound up in clay jars of scroll
Hidden away two thousand years
Written by scores of ancient seers.
It is the world’s most famous book
Perhaps one day, you’ll take a look !

These are the friends of Winnie-the-Pooh
There in the woods where they all do go
That’s where it happens, best as I know.
In a tree’s hollow under a beech
See Piglet run and hear the Owl screech
I’d love to be a bump on the log
As Eeyore and Roo go for a jog.
Many a child’s been given a thrill
Hearing their tales and many more will !

There is this hymn I used to hear
Sung ever softly on my ear
When I was young and oh, so small
I loved that tune the best of all.
It was my night time beddie-bye
The one mom sang if I did cry
I taught my children that same song
When they were young we’d sing along.
We did so quite religiously
In joy and pleasure frequently !

Sometimes the dream you’re waiting for
Lies just outside your own front door
Sometimes success that you pursue
Is something you already knew.
Sometimes your life becomes intense
If you’ve no taste for self defense
And when you fumble or you fall

In a garden long, long ago
In a special place I don’t know
Lived someone related to me
Long, long ago in history.
Perhaps one day we’ll get to meet
On a corner of heaven’s street
And if we can’t I will not mind
There will be others I shall find
For we are one huge family

I’d like to believe all of my prayers
Will be reviewed by His crew upstairs

Where shall I send it, I have no clue

I must continue trying each day

My thoughts return to years ago
To someone that I used to know
A someone who looks just like me
The person that I used to be.
I have survived the time between
Can you imagine all I’ve seen ?
Seems God and me, we have a pact
I’m training for the final act
He greets each as their turn is done
This Lord of our true Kingdom come!
I often wonder as I peer into the sky
Where do all the clouds go after they’re passing by
Do they have a mission or a schedule to keep
What happens up above when I am fast asleep ?
I try to stay alert and do not want to miss
A single moment’s joy of heaven full of bliss !
I wish, I wish that I could be
The candles on your birthday cake
The star upon your Christmas tree
Or mushrooms on your juicy steak.
I’d like to be your one true friend
A buddy who will understand
Or lifetime pal until the end
I would be there to help you stand.
Now friendship is a special treat
A precious gift that we may share
It softens many blows we meet
And gives us cause to smile and care !
Every day starts out the same
I’m getting tired of this game
I do believe I’d like some change
Although I think it could feel strange.
I’ve been a creature of routine
My life is calm, sweetly serene
And I don’t know if I’d survive
An increase in excess or drive.
Perhaps I’d better rethink this
And settle for my boring bliss !
Oh little man,where have you gone
What costume is it you have on
Which role is this you’re playing now
While on life’s stage to take a bow ?
I’ve seen the many hats you wear
I’d like to help you get to there
Unless I know where that place is
I’m helpless cause I am no whiz !
Oh little man, when you are grown
And roots of dreams have been well sown
Please tell me what I need to do

I wish that I had nerves of steel
So every pinprick that I feel
Would never bring a single ache
Into my life or cause heartbreak.
I always thought that I was strong
But I know now how I was wrong
And find myself in quite a mess
I’m so confused, I must confess.
Seems all the stuff I did believe
Was part of my own self-deceive
When will I learn to standup tall
Keep faith with God and heed His call ?
There’s a stranger in my parlor
How did he get inside
I thought I heard his noisy chirp
Wherever does he hide ?
Well, never mind the sound he makes
I need to find him how,
The miracle of all of this
He’s in my house right now !
I guess I’ll learn to live with him
What else is there to do
Perhaps one day he’ll say farewell
Goodbye and toodle-loo !
Who has not shed a thousand tears
To rid themselves of earthly fears
And all of this to no avail
As man’s inclined to often fail.
Now what are we but impotent
In this our world of God’s invent
Let’s settle in remembering
That He determines everything !
Dear Lord above, I’d like to know
When day is done where do You go
Is there one place that You’re fond of
Some hideaway or spot You love ?
So glorious it must be grand
A product of His own blest hand,
How wonderful that God is The
Creator of Eternity !
Oh little child so full of dreams
Life isn’t always as it seems
The door of hope is not quite free
It may not open up for thee.
Just wait awhile and softly pray
That God above will save each day
For it is He who blesses all
And answers when the children call.
Be not afraid He’ll keep you there
Close to His heart and in His care !
There is a place just above Nod
Where everyone has faith in God,
The children and the angels too
Are in accord with me and you
They say their prayers and read God’s book
And good deeds glow where e’er you look.
Oh how I wish that I could be
A member of that colony
Perhaps if I try very hard
One day I too may bide with God !
The sky is grey, the weather’s drear

Midst spins of twists and turns unloosed !
I’d like to believe that I am strong
That I can handle what comes along
Because my courage is loathe to fail
As I’m not a ship without a sail !
Some lessons in life have taught me well
I’ve tales of my own that I may tell
Please help me dear Lord to stand up tall
Or extend Your arms ere I should fall !
Circuitous is not my style
And never found to be worthwhile
Straight forward is my only choice
That’s where I opt to use my voice
I’ve learned with time that truth still pays
Thank God, it lightens all my days !
