Sometimes the world seems upside down
Sure makes it hard to get around
Sometimes we notice small mistakes
Let’s fix it fast before it breaks
Sometimes we find we’re not that smart
But we possess a giant heart !
Sometimes the world seems upside down
Sure makes it hard to get around
Sometimes we notice small mistakes
Let’s fix it fast before it breaks
Sometimes we find we’re not that smart
But we possess a giant heart !
It seems our nation’s drowning fast
The world at large appears aghast
Oh, tell us please what can we do
To save ourselves and cleave to You ?
Our time is slipping past too soon
The path ahead leads but to ruin
Let’s say a prayer that this won’t be
Another page in history !
How can we silence all the din
This world we know does wallow in
Those voices raised in angry hate
All chiming in at this late date.
Where were you when the need was most
All empty words and hollow boast
Or shouting threats that we should fear
God’s holocaust will soon be here !
There’s not a day that passes by
When each one’s dream may bid goodbye
There’s not a night without a star
Reminding us how near or far
The journey of our lives will be
In terms of our expectancy.
For we are here a short time all
Without control o’er win or fall
It is the Master of our fate
Who knows our exit and its date !
Tis strange there is no rest at all
For those who stumble or who fall
Or those who’ve willed their lifetime call
To carry someone else’s ball !
Before I entered in life’s maze
I’d been alive a thousand days
I walked and talked and learned to sing
Good manners came with everything.
My mother, she was but sixteen
Had never been a high school queen
She was my best friend my whole life
Through happy days and those of strife.
The hard times came, then went away
But left the scars of yesterday
Sometimes when I do quiet sit
Those memories may be relit.
I’ve often wondered how we did
When daddy died, I was a kid
Today the days just seem to fly
I must learn now to say goodbye !
Good morning world, I’ve come to say
The Lord gives us another day
A day to do what e’er we choose
A day to win, a day to lose.
And if we’re smart we’ll use it well
That others may His story tell
And so it moves us closer to
His day of judgement tried and true.
It matters much our real intent
Like how our wisdom has been spent
And have helped our fellow man
The best as many of us can.
Our God is fair, unerring kind
But to our faults He is not blind !
When you look around what do you see
An exciting world that works for free
The sun that shines and a moon that glows
A tingling sensation, head to toes
With the awareness of who we are
And why we are ruled by one bright star
The miracle is we cling to earth
And treasure the pull for all we’re worth !
I’m often amazed by facts I see
Of how our Lord helps both you and me
And thus He tends our world from up high
In heaven as He is passing by.
While the leaves do fall and dissipate
On ground beneath, there hover and wait
For rains to fall on assorted roots
Where the winds wake up the tender shoots.
Cycles of life going on and on
A method we all depend upon
Such glorious plans that He provides
Assuring all creation survives !
There lives a love that waits for me
Beyond the reach of destiny
A love that is one’s legacy
And takes us to eternity !
There was a road that we once saw
What was it we were searching for
God’s invitation on our door
To help us find oh, so much more !
How much is it I loved you, like flowers loved the gentle rain
As soldiers loved the glory of those great battles won or gained
How can I explain God’s miracles and that which I’ve now learned
The fervor of His majesty into our hearts has been burned.
There is no other answer and to seek one would be in vain
For all we pray, we know there is not a chance we’ll meet again
I’ve promised you my darling, we shall not e’er run out of time
As long as you remember why and for whom we’ve been consigned !
My heart is full, I cannot bear
The loss of ones no longer there
My day begins with hope and prayer
Away, the gloom of dark despair.
With those now gone, we shall compare
A memory that all may share
Tis now, by chance won’t seem unfair
We’ll carry on, but do we dare !
Whate’er we hear or see each day,
Integrity gets in the way
Truth comes at last, who is the Beast
That rules the world and all its Least ?
We certainly are gone quite mad
In truth, most citizens are sad
Hyenas rule at every gate
The Just are cowed and much irate.
Salvation seems quite overdue
How shall we know when dreams come true
Perhaps to pray as we’ve been told
Remembering God’s promise old
Each are His children one and all
Awaiting on His final call !
When I was young and quite naive
There were these myths I did believe
I’ve learned the moon’s not made of cheese,
Be sure to say “thank you” and “please”
The world has changed, I understand
But overall, life can be grand.
There is one thing I’d like to say
“A nightlight keeps the dark away”
Each happy ever after starts
When we shoo anger from our hearts
Let’s try again to learn new ways
To fill our lives with kinder days !
It happens every day I wake
My early morning “thankful” break
When I meet God ’bout halfway there
And offer up a simple prayer.
There can be tears I must admit
Sometimes I find it hard to quit
But even harder through the day
When I would rather run away.
That’s not an action worthy of
The special depths of mother love
I’ll have to learn as best I can
That God must have a better plan !
The world outside is dark and grim
I beg You Lord, please let me in
It matters not what I shall eat
Or whom it is that I may meet.
Tis only in the shadow of
Your all consuming constant love
That all my hopes and dreams can be
Some part of life’s reality
I promise now that I will do
What e’er You wish that pleases You !
AMEN.
Oh dearest friend, I feel your grief
I wish to proffer some relief
You close your eyes to bar the strife
That’s happening within your life.
An agile mind that used to be
Now chained by its infirmity
Oh dearest one, you’ve come this far
Try to remember who you are !
For God and Country, so it goes
How does it end, seems no one knows
We are a nation thus conceived
Of all the values we believed
We are a country young at heart
In which each one must play a part.
We can’t pretend that we are free
It must be with great certainty
The task at hand is guaranteed
To make us strong and to succeed
We shall not fail nor will we break
We’ll stay the course, God’s piece of cake !
Once was a place called Paradise
It existed longtime ago
We knew it was special and nice
There is this book that told us so.
We often wonder, growing old
If admission there is still free
Or does it take a journey bold
For simple folk like you and me ?
Who knows what is tomorrow’s share
The most we can do is to guess
And beg our Lord to take us there
It’s the key to our happiness !
Far in the distance I can hear
The sound of all the passing trains
The wail that echoes loud and clear
Repeating its wistful refrains,
Across this world the trains hold court
With language we can’t comprehend
In climates cold or damage fraught
Or crises we don’t understand.
Oh sad the trail of distance brings
To circumstance beyond our reach
It is the sound of dying things
The skill of God will soon impeach !
The past, it was, but is no more
It tip-toed out of my back door
And left behind so much regret
Twill take a lifetime to forget.
Though I don’t think it ever will
Until my heart at last lies still
I miss you now, it won’t abate
A mother’s love has no due date !
I hear the rain, its pouring down
The raindrops splashing all around
The smell of spring is, oh, so sweet
With more to come, our daily treat.
This earth is parched and overcome
The winter’s been its old hum-drum
The spring is here for its short stay
Let’s make the most of every day !
A little voice within my head
Whispered to me, “get out of bed,
Stop feeling sorry for yourself
And rise up from that dusty shelf. ”
“It’s not as bad as what you think
Please move back safely from the brink
Tis time to pay attention to
All that the Lord has done for you !”
“Wake up, wake up, ere it’s too late
Just how much longer will you wait ?
This scene is coming to an end
Make haste to mend your fence, my friend !”
The wind, it whispers in the breeze
And blows its breath into the trees
It sings a song of joyousness
That’s gathered in the robin’s breast.
The mockingbird sounds crisp and curt
He does not wish a songbird hurt
And mimics all he can, but still
He stops short of the whip-poor-will,
You’ll hear the chorus of each bird
It is the best I’ve ever heard !
The sun sinks low in darkened sky
Preparing soon to say goodbye
The wind has reached its all time low
With reticence here and below
The evening creeps, its silence taut
The stars keep blinking as they ought
Tis time to bid to all good night
Until we wake with morning’s light !
