I’m sure there is so much to say
To help us all save every day
With plans in place to find a way
To thank the Lord without delay !
I’m sure there is so much to say
To help us all save every day
With plans in place to find a way
To thank the Lord without delay !
Oh dearest Lord, what shall I do
My stay on earth too soon is through
I leave my love and heart behind
For family and friends to find.
But if I’m gone and no one’s there
Who will be left to truly care,
I pray that you remember me
With kindness and simplicity.
My closing thought regarding this
To seal my word with one last kiss
I charge you now for all times sake
This is a promise I shan’t break !
To those I’ve known and loved before
Whose memories my heart has stored
Here in the reaches of my mind
Midst joy and feeings ever kind,
Remember that I’ll miss you all
And pray the Lord is at your call
While angels spread their wings above
And bathe you in God’s constant love !
As I reflect on years gone by
And all the times I’ve said goodbye
To those faces I have adored
With so much feeling that I’ve stored
In the recess of my best part
The center of my loving heart.
Hold on, hold on, we’re not yet done
There is lots more that is to come
Open your arms and your heart too
Because your best is up to you !
Feelings of old pull at my heart
As I’m praying my life must start
Too long have I been pausing here
While waiting for love to appear
By now I am expecting nought
For in the process dreams get caught.
I’ve wished so hard to find the way
To take a chance and longer stay
Well here’s my heart, please help it heal
Teach me God’s love and how to feel !
It doesn’t matter what you say
But what you do with every day
What kind of pattern’s left behind
What is it that you seek to find ?
How many burdens can you lift
How do you use your earthly gift,
What kind of friendship do you share
What will you do to show you care ?
Oh little lamb you are so sweet
God loves to smell your roasting meat
He’s rather fond of incense too
With scents of flowers red, pink, white, blue
And all the candles that we light
To chase the darkness of the night.
How simple it can be to show
The proper path that we must go !
The tender night reveals our fears
The falling rain does hide our tears
The silent breeze will calm our fright
While love of God safeguards each night !
When I was young, my world brand new
There were so many things to do
So much to learn with time to share
With excess and enough to spare
Well, things have changed, it’s not the same
The world we knew now plays a game
I get discouraged, don’t you too
Have you decided what to do ?
It seems as though we have no choice
Until we learn to grow a voice !
AMEN.
Help me, oh Lord, to find the way
Back home to You at end of day
Give me the strength to carry on
When all my energy seems gone
Show me the path that leads to peace
Where all my pain at last will cease !
Each day I rise with great surprise
To find the world before my eyes
I thank the Lord that I’m alive
And query how I still survive !
I’ve lived this life a long, long time
Indeed it’s been a tedious climb
At times I’ve thought I can’t go on
But rules are what life’s based upon !
Forgive me Lord for doubting You
What e’er You’ve taught, it is all true
I’ll carry on, I promise this
And know that life is not all bliss !
How I’d like to think we’re all the same
That we all possess the selfsame aim
That our instincts tell us what’s correct
And the principles we must expect,
That we live our lives in manner strong
In a place in which respect belongs,
That we honor truth and liberty
In a world wherein all men are free !
The night is cool, the air is sweet
God’s vernal world lies at our feet
Each dried up twig now sports new leaf
The winter’s gone to our relief
Our barren coast revives once more
With summer dreams in full encore.
How glad am I to feel awake
And comprehend just what’s at stake
This life we have is all we need
Let’s thank the Lord and pay Him heed
As He’s the answer to all prayer
Oh blessed Lord, be always there !
There was a dream that I once had
Which made my memories so glad
Long time ago when I was young
And all my hopes were yet unsung
The energy still kept its charm
And laughter held no great alarm.
Tis time for freedom and for joy
When all life’s pleasures are employed
Oh, would that God was always there
To hear our ever grateful prayer
And see us through until the end
He is our true and constant friend !
Good morning world, I’ve come to say
The Lord gives us another day
A day to do what e’er we choose
A day to win, a day to lose.
And if we’re smart we’ll use it well
That others may His story tell
And so it moves us closer to
His day of judgement tried and true.
It matters much our real intent
Like how our wisdom has been spent
And have helped our fellow man
The best as many of us can.
Our God is fair, unerring kind
But to our faults He is not blind !
When I was but a little child
And life was newer, sweeter, mild
My mother taught me many things
About the joy that kindness brings
And why respect’s a two way street
When often strangers chance to meet
The earth is precious needing care
With trust the virtue all must share !
Oh how I wish that I could fly
On magic wings into the sky
To visit in that storied land
Where dreams come true and hopes expand.
With love and joy in every nook
And shelves chock full of toy and book
A special place devoid of fear
Where no one ever sheds a tear.
There is no hunger anywhere
And there are beds for all to share
Nor is the sound of anger heard
All seem to have a kindly word.
How marvelous if we could see
Our world bathed in such harmony !
I feel the reach of freedom here
That calls so softly on my ear
Quite childlike in its innocence
To not accept, would make no sense.
Now freedom is a hopeful word
It means the best to us we’ve heard
And conjures up a special brand
Of lifestyle that comes close at hand
It treads on no one else’s space
Where each moves on at one’s own pace
A precious act protecting rights
Avoiding foolish, feckless frights !
The wheels of justice do turn round and round
Until the pendulum of life has found
All of the many strengths that each displays
In the intensity of God’s clear gaze.
He is not fooled by acts of ignorance
In order to achieve one’s recompense
Our God who reigns above is wise and fair
Rewarding all who care enough to share !
I look around, what do I spy
The naked limbs of barren trees
With leaves in piles about sky-high,
Leftover ice from last night’s freeze,
Snapshots of early morning find
Still crusted on the window’s ledge
A lacy pattern left behind
By remnants of the autumn sedge.
The winter has its own brigades
An army of invading knaves
Of frost and snow and ice cascades
That from the bitter cold here saves !
There is a heart beats in my breast
Reminding me that I am blest
I’m sure that God is always there
He holds the answer to each prayer.
His comfort is my one desire
It’s His love sets my heart afire
I’m far too old to question why
But I know God’s my bestest Guy !
Let’s say a prayer, come Christmas Day
For all those children far away
Who’ve lived in need and know no peace
Where joys and dreaming are deceased.
They’ve never lived without the tears
That generate both hate and fears
Whose existence finds ’tis bereft
By times of war, years of neglect.
Oh helpless child who does not know
The gifts of God, Who loves us so !
There’s so much snow upon the ground
Midst signs of winter all around
The wind is cold and icy breathed
It mixes with the air that’s left !
The signs of warmth rise here and there
While smoking chimneys pierce the air,
Fireplaces through the winter’s night
Will shed their pleasant warming light.
The shadows dancing on the wall
Invite us now to taste it all
With friends and neighbors far and near
So all may reap the seasons cheer !
I pine for you my precious child
You weathered life both harsh and mild
When you were young you were so sweet
You truly were your mommy’s treat.
An angel child from heaven sent
Where helping others was your bent
Along the way your life it changed
Your ideas all, how far they ranged.
From deep sea diving to the ice
You did it all and made it nice
Good husband, father, brother too
Your great big world was fond of you.
You never lost your faith in God
Especially when life got hard
We’ll pray that God is there for you
And that His love will follow through !
I hear the chapel bells they ring
While songs of praise to God they sing
With sounds of joy aloud they shout
Their Hallelujahs reaching out !
Today is one more Holy Day
O’er which belief defends their way
And helps them on this steady path
With all the faith their passion hath.
These blessings keep them channeled in
To constancy and lack of sin
They do the job the best they can
To share God’s love with every man !
Perhaps it will be best if we don’t see
The shadow of a life that used to be
For all concerned it might be better still
Bid welcome to God, accepting His will.
The time is short as all lives do run out
Some with a whisper and others a shout
Now whom of we, when the curtain is down
Will greet the Lord with our face in a frown ?
The stars that shine across the sky
All glow so bright when passing by
I wonder if God’s angels see
His patterns and diversity ?
Do angels go to sleep at night
And waken to the morning’s light
Or do they fall asleep at all
While awaiting God’s beck and call ?
This universe is God’s command
He rules it all with heart in hand !
I’ve often thought how very kind
We are as we keep God in mind
How understading and complete
Our lives will be with joy replete !
