Of all life’s lessons we need learn
That everyone must wait their turn
Not all can prance upon the stage
Not every voice will chance engage.
The monuments of life are real
And challenge all the pulse we feel
While some are silent in the race
And some exist without a face,
There is a truth we can’t deny
Some walk, some run but others fly !
The sun shines bright, we’re on our way
To praise our Lord on His birthday
No matter when that day may be
We’re joyful that we still are free
To pick or choose the manner of
The way we opt to show our love.
We thank You God for Your great gift
And how You give our lives a lift
Whatever happens in our ranks
We proffer You our grateful thanks !
Her eyes so sad, her smile so sweet
She stood there staring at her feet
This tiny child so motionless,
I had to pause, I must confess.
She didn’t speak, no not a word
I wondered if she even heard
I thought she must be in distress
So silent in her wornout dress.
Too many children are alone
Neglected, lost, left on their own
I beg you God forget them not
You are the only hope they’ve got !
Oh blessed Lord how the heart does sing
With all the bliss of remembering
The sweetest song of each nesting bird
That even angels in heaven heard,
As the hopeful times of yesterday
Merge hearts that are free to laugh and play
Ere the dark descends from up above
To scatter dreams of remembered love !
While winter winds do snow and blow
And springtime rains make all things grow
While summer sun warms all we’ve got
And autumn crops do fill the pot
We need to say our thanks once more
Before we exit life’s back door.
How marvelous our God must be
He did all this for you and me
There is no way we can repay
What He has done in one short day !
I thank You Lord for all You’ve done
For everything and everyone,
I beg You please desert us not
For in the end You’re all we’ve got
I cannot bear the pain I see
Your children know such misery.
This world is fighting to survive
Help us to keep our faith alive
Speed love upon its magic wings
And share the joy of life it brings !
I have wandered lost near my journey’s end
In the search to find my forever friend
And as time has passed I am sure that I
Have met many that were but passing by.
There is one I’ll miss to my final day
Aft the angels came and took her away
Twas my true buddy, my mom and my friend
All her love bides with me until my end !
I hear Your voice in the rhythm of trees
Your smile persists in the sigh of each breeze
The glow of Your love heals the ailing heart
The strength of Your presence gave life its start !
Oh blessed Lord give my heart wings
To fly away above the crowd
To where the sweetest angel sings
With voice that’s been by God endowed.
This tiny star that shines so bright
It’s luminescence fills the sky
No matter if it’s day or night
We know that He will be close by !
Let us take the time to thank God above
For His constant care and abiding love
For the stars that shine and the winds that blow
For the rains that fall and those things that grow
For the oceans’ roar and the fish that swim
Are the gifts to us that come straight from Him.
There is no time left for us to conceive
Any other way except to believe
For however long our time mayhaps be
I know He is there through eternity !
There is a magic genie that I’ve never seen
His spirit works quite hard and all behind the scene
Though we have not yet met I’m sure that He exists
Else how do we explain why our belief persists ?
In spite of all our setbacks, chaos on the way
We’ll manage to get through if only day by day
It’s amazing how much help we’ve found everywhere

Love is a word I use a lot
For without love what have I got,
A lonely world all to myself
I’d be there wasting on some shelf.
I’d rather be a loving soul
Than searching for an empty goal
Whatever joy that life may bear
It’s so much greater when we share !
An early chill now fills the air
And soon the sun its warmth will share
As for the day we all prepare
Our joyful show of hope and care
Let’s join together in a prayer
A loving God is always there !
If life were like a baseball game
If sportsmanship brought most great fame
And bases were our only aim
We’d garner love and glory claim.
But life is more intense, devout
It’s faith and truth God is about
We hear the words His umpires shout
You reach the end and learn “you’re out”.
So be it when the inning’s o’er
If that is all that we can score
Before time closes its last door
We could have reached for so much more !
I see God’s colors clearly, crisp blue of winter sky
The umber of the dried leaves as they go flashing by
Cool gray of all the clouds as they circumvent up high
And in the sleeping gardens, dull green of plants that die.
The colors are quite somber, I wish they were alive
Suppose I’ll have to wait for the springtime to arrive
I can barely bide the time till the brightness will revive
As I make this silent wish that I shall be alive !
The flame burns bright, the words still flow
I’ve more to say before I go
The years have flown, I’ve seen so much
My mind’s alive, my heart’s been touched.
There’s reams now left for me to say
I’m grateful for each extra day
The presence of the Lord is here
The time is now, standup and cheer !
Sometimes the nights seem dark and cold
Shadows threaten both young and old
The winds do play beneath the eaves
They swoosh the ground and lift the leaves.
While in the heavens stars implode
Our world is waiting to explode
The signs are there for all to see
This is no secret mystery.
We can’t receive some magic pass
Like Alice through the Looking Glass
But rather face reality
Where God alone holds the brass key !
Do you recall what it was like
When you were but a tiny tyke
And kids would play out in the rain
Barefooted, zooming like a plane ?
Or hopscotch on a city street
With concrete squares beneath your feet,
What’s happened to those days of joy
When children could be girl or boy ?
A game of tag or hide and seek
Just count to ten and do not peek,
Oh how much fun there used to be
When children were kept safe and free !
I hear the angel choir as with clarity it rings
The sound of angel voices carries joy upon its wings
That promises to all a new tomorrow full of peace
As from this earthly plane the Lord does grant us our release !
A little bit of garden around the corner there
A little touch of heaven in early morning air
A highway in the sky for migrating birds to share
A pathway to the stars and a road to get you there.
If thoughts were things
And hearts had wings
Then you and I
Would learn to fly
Into God’s world
With hope unfurled
And spend our days
Singing His praise !
Let us build a road to heaven
We’ll pave it with unselfish deeds
Days of the week are but seven
Not quite enough to meet our needs.
This task may take us forever
I hope we can afford the time
Will we succeed, I’d guess never
God knows, it could be worth the climb !
When I look back upon my life
As child, daughter, mother or wife
Those things that I remember best
Are those that have withstood time’s test.
The days of childhood now long gone
Which gave us hope to wish upon
All followed by the maiden schemes
To shape one’s life and seek one’s dreams.
Then on one day to find true love,
The hero she’d been thinking of
Thus starts new life and motherhood
The years fly by as all years should.
Now that it’s part of what has passed
The good, bad, strayed or could not last,
Tis sad to think that nothing’s sure
Our God alone holds reason pure !
A little bit of heaven has nestled next to me
An angel without wings I’m convinced that he must be
He is a precious package and smells so extra sweet
His daddy’s pride and joy and his mommy’s dearest treat.
Oh tiny babe, with chubby cheeks, hands of doll-like size
You are God’s gift of true love, His blessing in disguise !
Have you seen all the shades of blue
That seem to range the ocean through
From azure light to dark blue green
With all the shades that lie between ?
From almost clear close to the shore
Or paler as you dip your oar
Reflecting rays of strong sunlight
Or midnight dark under starlight ?
Such a happy phenomenon
I sure would like to dwell upon
What all of this can mean to me,
I think God loves diversity !
One feels walled in by steel and concrete
While strolling down a large city street
Confined by noise and lack of fresh air
I believe I choose to not be there.
Show me a field whence wilderness grows
It’s sure to be where godliness flows,
Or by a small stream or riverbed
With a gravel path that’s been well tred.
Nature’s replete with sounds loud and clear
The birds and creatures all seem to cheer
There is great joy in God’s wonderland
Hear it sing aloud and sound so grand !
The hours fly like autumn leaves
Both sere and withered in the breeze
The days are lost, they’ve disappeared
Like storm toss’d trees all stripped and sheared.
Our yesterdays are hard to find
Our joys and pains are intertwined.
Confusion teases what we’ve known
With memories long deeply flown.
Our fleeting thoughts do come and go
We queue to wait for God’s next show !
I learned so many years ago
That love’s a part of God’s design,
That each of us needs time to know
Shall we accept His will divine ?
Within the heart exists this place
That lingers wistful ever long
For only God can fill its space
Because it’s where true love belongs !
