For all of those who are alone
And to the Lord their prayers intone
To those who’ve lost far too much sleep
O’er worry how their home to keep,
Or health that is in need of care
Some crisis that they cannot bear
For help to wake and greet each day
True faith is there to show the way.
The Lord’s beside you never fear
He feeds your soul from far or near
He guides you in what e’er you do
Have hope, believe He won’t fail you !
The time is coming it’s almost here
As we wait to greet the brand new year
What kind of changes shall we then see
And what will that mean for you and me ?
Since I am old and remember when
We all believed He would come again
To reign on earth for a thousand years
And heal our wounds and allay our fears.
Then once was a time when faith was strong
And peoples from divers lands did throng
To worship Him in His holy place
And join Him there in eternal grace !
There is this fact that I have found
To keep my feet upon the ground
We’re all the same from inside out
We think, we feel and move about
There is a code that matches few
To thine ownself be ever true !
Life is so very precious, oh my dear
Embracing faith helps keep our God quite near
I see His stars that twinkle in the sky
Reminding me there is this force on high.
I’ve not been blinded by the far-off lights
They’ve been my company too many nights
I lie abed before my eyelids close
And sometimes count my fingers and my toes
Still joyous count God’s blessings by the score
Knowing if I have need there will be more !
These winter winds embrace the night
While we all snuggle and sleep tight
Under blankets or handmade quilt
That wizened hands with love have built.
The winds do whistle through the glass
Reminding all of life’s morass
Our patience is required now
Pray we survive these times somehow.
For longer than we care to think
Our future trembles on the brink
The Lord is there and knows our plight
And safekeeps us throughout each night !
Along the path that we have trod
With one eye constant on our God
So many twists and turns we’ve met
Temptations passed hold no regret
We’ve stayed the course with faith in mind
And kept our courage strong not blind.
Sometimes the fates have challenged us
With visions ever glorious
But we have met the enemy
And seen the truth that all may see
Bare fisted, bald or velvet gloved
Remember, you are truly loved !
The dearest words that we can say
Are “thank you Lord” for each new day
Tomorrow has some time to wait
Its thanks may come a day too late.
The time is now not hours hence
It only makes good common sense
The days may rise and after pass
Till we have breathed our very last
There is that moment each must know
We’ve reached the end of life’s last show !
Of all life’s lessons we need learn
That everyone must wait their turn
Not all can prance upon the stage
Not every voice will chance engage.
The monuments of life are real
And challenge all the pulse we feel
While some are silent in the race
And some exist without a face,
There is a truth we can’t deny
Some walk, some run but others fly !
The sun shines bright, we’re on our way
To praise our Lord on His birthday
No matter when that day may be
We’re joyful that we still are free
To pick or choose the manner of
The way we opt to show our love.
We thank You God for Your great gift
And how You give our lives a lift
Whatever happens in our ranks
We proffer You our grateful thanks !
I’m sure we have heroes everywhere
Even if we do not know their names
We’re so positive that they do care
Always ready to preserve our aims.
They have faith and heart and courage too
Belief in all of our true ideals
No matter what others say or do
These are passions that a hero feels !
Her eyes so sad, her smile so sweet
She stood there staring at her feet
This tiny child so motionless,
I had to pause, I must confess.
She didn’t speak, no not a word
I wondered if she even heard
I thought she must be in distress
So silent in her wornout dress.
Too many children are alone
Neglected, lost, left on their own
I beg you God forget them not
You are the only hope they’ve got !
I look outside, what do I see
A darkened sky that threatens me
An empty street that’s void of life
No sign of commerce, trade or strife.
I’m grateful for my quiet space
Right now I need a resting place
When will all of this chaos end
I sure could use a real good friend !
There is this message I’d like to send
Across the land to both foe and friend
There is a God and He loves us all
Size matters not, whether great or small
He doesn’t care if we’re fat or thin
It’s the condition our heart is in.
It has to do with the way we think
Are we satisfied or on the brink
It’s the simple things that rate us all
Not the obvious, like short and tall.
It’s the kindness and the depth of love
It’s the hopes that we are dreaming of
It’s the job we do from day to day
To comport ourselves in every way.
There’s a world out there waiting for us
To join our God in His grand chorus
Won’t you stand up now and make a choice
And pledge to Him the power of your voice !
Oh blessed Lord how the heart does sing
With all the bliss of remembering
The sweetest song of each nesting bird
That even angels in heaven heard,
As the hopeful times of yesterday
Merge hearts that are free to laugh and play
Ere the dark descends from up above
To scatter dreams of remembered love !
When the battle’s over and the fighting done
With God’s will the healing process has begun !
There is a light that burns so bright
Its luminescence floods the night
It is the light that knowledge brings
Into our lives where freedom rings.
The song we hear is incomplete
Its notes sing out both clear and sweet
All promising that we shall learn
How to address one great concern.
Our safety lies within that glow
Where wisdom’s power does constant grow
Else who is left to keep the lights
Forever burning through our nights ?
While winter winds do snow and blow
And springtime rains make all things grow
While summer sun warms all we’ve got
And autumn crops do fill the pot
We need to say our thanks once more
Before we exit life’s back door.
How marvelous our God must be
He did all this for you and me
There is no way we can repay
What He has done in one short day !
There is a garden in the mist
Where hopes and dreams by chance exist
Just close your eyes and be prepared
Perhaps one day you’ll visit there
And if you do, remember me
Say one small prayer in memory !
For every single tear we’ve shed
Like pools of blood that we have bled
Our God has all His mercy shown
And makes His purpose clearly known.
We are His children one and all
And meant to answer to His call
It matters not if night or day
He summons us, we must obey !
Each dawn awakens with a smile
And bides with us for but awhile
While night does close with leaden heart
To quiet wait for morn’s restart !
I hear Your voice in the rhythm of trees
Your smile persists in the sigh of each breeze
The glow of Your love heals the ailing heart
The strength of Your presence gave life its start !
Oh blessed Lord give my heart wings
To fly away above the crowd
To where the sweetest angel sings
With voice that’s been by God endowed.
This tiny star that shines so bright
It’s luminescence fills the sky
No matter if it’s day or night
We know that He will be close by !
Let us take the time to thank God above
For His constant care and abiding love
For the stars that shine and the winds that blow
For the rains that fall and those things that grow
For the oceans’ roar and the fish that swim
Are the gifts to us that come straight from Him.
There is no time left for us to conceive
Any other way except to believe
For however long our time mayhaps be
I know He is there through eternity !
There is a magic genie that I’ve never seen
His spirit works quite hard and all behind the scene
Though we have not yet met I’m sure that He exists
Else how do we explain why our belief persists ?
In spite of all our setbacks, chaos on the way
We’ll manage to get through if only day by day
It’s amazing how much help we’ve found everywhere

Love is a word I use a lot
For without love what have I got,
A lonely world all to myself
I’d be there wasting on some shelf.
I’d rather be a loving soul
Than searching for an empty goal
Whatever joy that life may bear
It’s so much greater when we share !
I hear the sound of marching feet
The drums of war do loudly beat
The peal of bells does emanate
While throngs distressed paticipate.
I hear the sound of ramparts roar
There bides no glory in a war
Mass explosions and missiles flare
While cries of sorrow fill the air.
I hear the sound of shuffling feet
The muted call of last retreat
What good was all this killing for
I pray we go to war no more !
An early chill now fills the air
And soon the sun its warmth will share
As for the day we all prepare
Our joyful show of hope and care
Let’s join together in a prayer
A loving God is always there !
If life were like a baseball game
If sportsmanship brought most great fame
And bases were our only aim
We’d garner love and glory claim.
But life is more intense, devout
It’s faith and truth God is about
We hear the words His umpires shout
You reach the end and learn “you’re out”.
So be it when the inning’s o’er
If that is all that we can score
Before time closes its last door
We could have reached for so much more !
