My life has been a bundle of
Both smiles and tears, laughter and love
Mixed in with all the varied ploys
Of growing up midst foolish joys
It ne’er occured that I should be
A child of opportunity
Oh how I wish I could have learned
To be grownup and more concerned.
The time has passed, it’s far too late
I guess I’ve missed the starting gate !
The waves they crash upon the shore
The oceans sigh and sometimes roar
The wind blows wild and billows out
Emitting sounds quite like a shout.
It whistles past each stand of trees
Without restrictions, if you please
To wander valiant in the brush
And give each blade of grass a rush.
The gust lends impetus to all
Attentions to this force of fall
The summer’s flown, farewell a must
Tis autumn with its burning lust !
I find it painful down memory lane
And prefer not pass this way again
Wounds of the past are too slow to heal
As all our weaknesses are revealed.
The courage it takes to stand up tall
May be the greatest challenge of all
We must believe God is always there
To cushion our falls and truly care
He leads us through darkness into light
And eases the blindness with His sight !
Have you wondered what clouds must see
While floating o’erhead lazily
And what about the mountain’s heighths
With all its smells and sound delights ?
Do you believe that clouds can tell
If all below are doing well
Or when to rain or sail away
Perhaps return another day ?
God’s world is huge and ever wide
What do you think He keeps inside,
Seems it’s a deep dark mystery
A puzzle for eternity ?
It never once occured to me
When I was but a child of three
That memories of days gone by
Would crowd my head ere I should die.
Most instances are so complete
At times they knock me off my feet
Whoever dreamt that olden days
Would be the pleasure of old age ?
I thank You Lord, that You have cared
And softened all the blows we’ve shared
I pray whatever lies in store
Will grant me peace forever more !
In age one learns to appreciate
God’s sweet pleasures as they meet our gait,
What was, has faded into the past
Leaving remnants to soften the last.
As time alone fast winnows away
Visions return to lighten the day
Although the picture’s not always clear
Moments of clarity do appear.
God in His wisdom which we may share
Guarantees all the depth of His care !
The heart does wander in sheer delight
In the quiet darkness of each night
How still the air in silence remains
While the soul regroups and peace maintains
Long after the sound of midnight chimes
Bringing back memories of past times.
We thank You Lord for the needed rest
Ever grateful, we shall give our best !
I have browsed through many a page of time
And wandered lost in the vast world of rhyme
I’ve traveled alone or in company
From ocean to ocean and sea to sea
And all that I’ve learned and all that I know
God walks beside me wherever I go !

There’s an awesome place which I once knew
Where I was sure childhood dreams came true
As the children played the whole day through
Like those angels up in heaven do.
Oh how I wish I could join them there
With peace and joy, happiness and prayer
And spend my days alive and aware
In the glowing kindness of God’s care !
There is confusion in the air
About the who, the what, the where
And so it is that we are lost
The price we’ve paid, too high a cost.
Let’s settle down, we’ll take a rest
We’ll pick and choose among the best
Give God a hand, it is His show
He has the keys, the way to go !
There is this need I have to share
My joy, my love with those who care
My heart is full, impelled to say
God in His beauty crowns each day.
The sun that’s rising overhead
Now spreads his rays across my bed
His fingers skim my window pane
And cause my life to sing again !
In the quiet of the evening
As shades of night begin to fall
And the time of our believing
Gently whispers goodnight to all,
Grasp the moment and remember
The days of old we used to know
Be it May or late December
In sunshine, rain or early snow,
Where we have learned to close our eyes
Each waiting the advent of light
With no assurance of surprise
This is no longer our last sight !
There is a path that leads to God
The road is long, the way is hard
We none of us do know the date
When each is called to meet one’s fate.
The nature of our lives is such
That what we spend won’t matter much
Not if our hearts are full of cheer
For all the days throughout the year.
God stands with us and guides our way
We follow Him both night and day
Begging that we may always be
Part of His vast society !
The sky grows dim and darkens now
As ocean spray whips cross my brow
The storm clouds gather o’er my head
As lapping waves do seashells spread.
The beach is rippled, cold and wet
Where muddy footprints cannot set
While clams submerge in tidal sands
Betrayed by holes from siphons glands.
Each of us has a tale to tell
And each new thought, a wish to spell
We thank the Lord for His invent
And praise Him for the best intent !
I’ve tried so hard for many years
To bolster courage, stem the tears
Reminding me day after day
That memories don’t fade away.
There’s no way left to heal the burn
When love’s been lost or not returned
Love lingers long and leaves a scar
That shadows one both near and far.
I thank You Lord, and understand
The beauty that is still at hand
It’s free to all that have no fear
And keeps Your Presence ever near !
Oh little wren where have you been
I do so want you to come in
But I can’t find the window catch
That let’s me open up the latch
So you and I may nod and greet
Like strangers who meet most discreet.
However I believe that we
Might get along quite famously
If only you and I could share
Some friendly bastion of fresh air
It seems as this will never be
We’re simply bound to peek and see !
I spy the remnants of my life
Surviving all its stress and strife
I sense the depth of my defense
While reaching out for recompense.
Where are the goals I thought I had
That separate good from the bad,
When will I learn to use my time
In aiding those who dare to climb ?
I find myself caught in the net
That seems to have no exit yet
Please show me, Lord the way to go
To help our lives and values grow !
You love me Lord, I’m sure of that
Without Your care my world is flat
For very long I was this child
Consumed by disposition mild,
I’d always been a fan robust
Where manners are thought of as must
And try so hard to save a place
Here in my heart for God’s sweet grace !
Oh how I wish that I could be
Those candy canes upon each tree
All shiny and so red and white
Delicious tasting, bite by bite.
While peppermint is full of zest
Let’s put each flavor to the test
I’m sure that chocolate is great
For other celebration dates.
Since Christmas comes but once a year
A time of joy, a time of cheer
I’d like to think that you and I
Will share these pleasures by and by !
The Lady in the Harbor speaks for one and all
She stands there in the distance silent and so tall
All copper green and shining like a sentinel
Full of all those secrets and tales she’ll never tell
Lady of deep mystery, tears and joys we’ve shared
While God is watching o’er us, know how much He cares !
There is this dream in which we’re caught
Wherein our hopes and fears are fraught
A place where passions that we knew
One day at last will follow through
To fold us in God’s circle of
His unabashed enduring love !
We’ll smile a smile or sing a song
Join a chorus or laugh along
Please take a chance, what can you lose
How does one know the path to choose ?
The little child that each once was
Teenagers that will challenge cause,
The old, infirm or oddly gruff
Like those who’ve known a road more rough
These are what life is composed of
They dream of peace and search for love !
Lord, You’re in charge of wrong and right
The sun by day, the stars by night
The winds that blow, the rains that fall
The light and dark, life overall.
You are the wisdom and the brains
The loss that memory retains
With dreams that we’re all guilty of
When all are young or bold in love.
The changes come, the changes go
Time flashes by the more you know
As God and all the angels smile
Because each is His darling child !
There is this world outside our door
Filled with guilt, rancor, so much more
A place where sadness multiplies
As lives are trashed before our eyes.
How many more are traumatized
By actions less than civilized ?
Please Lord, accept our gratitude
And in our lives kindness include
Teach us to be the best we know
To do Your will where ere we go !
There are these words that fill my heart
And bring each day a brand new start
With joy and love and common good
Celebrating life as we should.
Oh blessed Lord teach us to find
A better way to help unwind
Confusion and the sadness of
A world that is devoid of love !
It seems to me that you and I
Are more than simply passers-by
We share our life with God above
And are the result of His love.
So much alike, yet none the same
In manner, gait or lifetime aim
How simple it all seems to be
With values based on equity !
Sometimes I dream ’bout long ago
And all the joys we used to know,
I miss that world so very much
Too sad we couldn’t keep in touch.
Seems now as though I’m in the past
Perhaps one that’s surviving last
Oh how I wish that I might spend
A day or two among my friends.
Well I’m no fool, that is a fact
We cannot bring the old times back
And need to bargain for much less,
Let’s settle for a huge God bless !
When is the moment we shall know
Our race is run it’s time to go
How can we learn if we are done
Seems we have barely just begun ?
Perhaps tis best to trust our fate
No matter what, it’s not too late
Our faith in God is not misplaced
We live within His world and space
Let’s trust in God and thank Him still
He is our Purpose and our Will !
