We’ve seen the shadows on the wall
Heard echoes of the clarion’s call
The battle signals rang out clear
To fall at last on hollowed ear.
There’s no mistake upon the ground
Or impact of each magic sound
While trumpets blow and blare away
This message for the latter days
A change is coming, wait and see
To wing the way to victory !
In the distant fields, row on row
Where all the stalwart poppies grow
God’s crimson plumes wave in the breeze
Their masses reaching to the trees
Across the hills and o’er the plains
With multitudes of mounting aims,
Who’s heard the call both loud and clear
And knows the day of judgement’s near ?
There is one thing I’ve learned before
There’s always room for just one more
It doesn’t matter where you’re from
Or of the distance you have come.
It’s of no consequence at all
If you are skinny, fat or tall
It matters not how old you are
Or if you are a rising star.
How wonderful that it would be
For all to share equality
Remembering that adage old
There’s always room for one more soul !
I’ve shared my bit of tragedy
As all the emptiness I see
Became a vital part of me
Impacting my philosophy.
The strength I knew that I possessed
Has helped me triumph over stress
I’ve tried to learn to find success
And fill each space with happiness !
The stage is set, the curtain waits
With ticket takers at each gate
The script’s been writ, face-paint applied
While tension grows from deep inside.
Time for the truth to come on out
With neither whimper nor a shout
The simple facts are really best
Let’s leave the judgement to the rest !
There is a lesson I have learned
That all misfortune is not earned
And oftentimes is ill advised
By those who have been compromised.
Tis now the time for all to rise
And beg the Power of the skies
To ease the pain and teach us ways
To seek fulfillment in our days !
A rose once in a garden grew
Nurtured by love and morning dew
Its flower so sweet beyond compare
Which God and all the angels shared
A beauty rare enough indeed
To comfort all who have the need.
The Rose of Sharon was the name
And from the fields that’s where He came
A beauty which reflects today
In all we know, in every way
The strength and wisdom that survives
It’s how we know God’s still alive !
The world is dying all around
I sense a shaking of the ground
What is this that’s now happening
God’s prophecies awakening ?
Has time run out and left us here
To ruminate or shed a tear ?
What does this mean to all of us
And will it cause a giant fuss ?
I’m not sure of the sound it brings
Sometimes I think it’s angel’s wings
Perhaps that what I’m wishing for
Some path to open heaven’s door !
My heart thanks God for each new day
My mind seeks out a nobler way
I’ve tried to find some answers here
A firmer faith, a path that’s clear
While time grows wings and seems to fly
The hours add up and multiply
Before we know it, we are done
And all accept the setting sun !
The moon must be up in the sky
I have this feeling I could cry
But there is nothing wrong with me
Not anything that I could see ?
Perhaps the stars got in my eyes
While I was busy watching skies
Or maybe Venus went astray
In retrograde and lost her way.
This horoscope will have to keep
I think it’s time to go to sleep !
I’d like to think that when I’m gone
This world about will carry on
Promote all hope or let’s pretend
That peace resides around the bend.
Of course we know this is not so
No matter where it is we go !
A kindly thought, a gentle word
Not either one would be absurd
Man and angel share one accord
True faith in God, trust in the Lord !
Too soon the morning sounds arrive
Informing all we’re still alive
Outside a bird begins to cheep
To certify we’re not asleep.
I hear the sound of running feet
A dog is barking in the street
Mid tires traversing on the road
As trucks pass bearing heavy load.
The stress and strain commence once more
Ere we have stepped outside the door
I can’t believe today’s begun
We’ve barely time to greet the sun !
I’d like to be a bug somewhere
That’s born to life without a care
I’d settle for a cricket too
But they have other jobs to do.
A beetle or a frog is fine
Or caterpillar on a vine,
I’m guessing that I’d choose the last
A butterfly might be a blast !
I have thought myself alone
On the precipice of fate
With the hope I can atone
As it’s never out of date.
I have dreamt for many years
That our dreams are not quite real
But reflections of our fears
And the passions that we feel !
I’d like to think God’s on my side
When I begin to slip and slide
Perhaps e’en tumble down some hill
Like that famous pair, Jack and Jill !
How wonderful that we may be
A part of Christ’s own victory
When good will triumph over all
And destiny will not be stalled
Let’s all standup and cheer aloud
Be grateful we have joined His crowd !
I sailed down mem’ry lane today
Reviewing things that we might say
And thought about it long and hard
I wonder, have you embraced God ?
Since you and I did not agree
On ways each handled destiny
I’d like to think we shared a view
Of all that would be right to do.
Now you’ve been gone for quite awhile
You earned your honor hero style
This is one lesson you’ve taught me
There’s no coward in victory !
Let’s pull the bell and ring the chimes
It’s time to welcome latter times
We’ll sing a hymn and raise each voice
To praise the Lord and make our choice.
The day is come, remember this
Christ was betrayed by but one kiss
Oh Judas, if you could have known
Would you have chosen to stay home ?
Accursed your name forever is
Throughout the world, both ours and His
I am so sad you’ve earned this fame
God save us all in Jesus’ name !
The signs of life are all around
My heart does quicken with their sound
I feel the pulsing of the beat
It seems to echo down the street.
See there the movement in and out
Each quiver likened to one shout
Oh gentle dove, I hear your “coo”
What is it I may do for you ?
We operate in finite ways
This is the vision of our days
Life’s aspects all are in accord
Each day shall bear its own reward !
A tender thought, a gentle kiss
Remembrance of the moment’s bliss
A kindly word, instant treasure
Memories of constant pleasure
These are results of many dreams
That culminate in joyous scenes.
Our world writhes in much angst and pain
It begs such effort to contain
We need more care to educate
And simple souls to formulate
A pattern of life’s give and take
As we weave through its make or break !
I often think this plan we’ve made
Needs lots of help, a large band-aid
Like an old game we used to play
To whisk our idle hours away.
Remember this now if you please
When you’re on “Broadway” take your ease
You do not have to go to “jail”
Just whiz on by, do not post bail.
However when you pause on GO
Make ready for the final blow
For life is one great big surprise
It’s meant to open all our eyes !
This morning we opened the windows wide
To let fresh air swish around inside
The breezes blew all of one accord
In every space where the dust had stored.
While a little voice whispered to me
Aren’t you glad to be young and free
Well, that’s half true, I have to admit
But young’s not how I’d describe the fit !
We need a hero, one worth waiting for
To warm up our hearts and open each door
We need memories to keep love alive
Supplying reason for us to survive.
We need a leader to tell us what’s true
To rally our faith for red, white and blue
We need a hero to stand with us now
To give us access to heaven somehow !
If I peeked outside my window blind
What do you suppose that I might find
Maybe some bird there upon a limb
Who silent waits for day to begin ?
Perhaps just a hint of morning rain
Splashing on my dusty window pane
Or an errant harbinger of spring
Anxious to join in God’s offering ?
Whatever else we find awaits there
Could be a wonder that all might share !
Our men who died on foreign shore
Ne’er to be seen forever more
They sacrificed to keep us free
Gave us the gift of liberty
And we shall try to bring them home
From foreign shores ne’er more to roam !
Oh little bird, just you and me
We dream upon our balcony
With you and all your feathers fine
And me and all my words devine
We are a pair, a sight to see
Each night there on that balcony !
God’s wisdom, love and understanding
With hopes beyond our comprehending
Soon the dawn awakes and hears our call
And brings the message that’s meant for all !
HE IS TRULY RISEN !
Good morning Lord, this is another day
With all new miracles spreading our way
Among the olden dreams we still expect
Like fantasies perchance that we reject
Who knows what favor God will deign to show
Let’s give it time to spread and shed and grow !
Life’s had its ups and had its downs
It’s had its smiles amidst the frowns
Each moment comes, each moment goes
Some days it’s calm, some days it blows.
There is no way that I can tell
If this is heaven or it’s hell
I wish I knew how to define
When I, at last, run out of time !
