And so our days just roll on by
Some with a tear, some with a sigh
Now there are times when it’s worthwhile
That all of us employ a smile
And so we move from day to day
Accepting life as come what may
Though hoping truly that our dreams
Are not as distant as it seems.
These dreams are made of fluff and stuff
Perhaps we cannot get enough
But time will know when we are done
Twixt tears or cheers, to end our run !
I feel the winds of change expand
They silent spread across the land
I sense the tremor in the trees
That shimmers in the morning breeze.
A pleasant peace now settles in
Inverse to all of life’s chagrin.
What is it I shall ask of God
Life that’s simple, and not too hard
True friendship based on moral core
With kindness, care and so much more
Let’s pray the Lord is always there
And guides us through with joy and care !
Dear Lord above, I love you so
So much I see, so much I know
I cannot wait until that day
When all our debts we must repay.
Though most may mourn or curse their fate
In truth with me, I cannot wait
There will be more that’s yet to come
God’s gift to grant or take from some.
The promise always has been there
Of love and peace and joy to share
The prophets promised long ago
We’ll only reap what we do sow !
Oh for the road not traveled along
And the memory of an old song
With a tune that cuts right to the core
And melodies of forgotten score,
Like a fragile view of times long past
With all of those things that could not last
On this lonely road exclusively
That leads one to an eternity !
There is a joy that giving brings
Among all life’s vast happenings
Love of family and of faith
The need for God to keep us safe
In hope that we may overcome
The evil we’re escaping from.
The sense to know that God is there
To hear our every hope and prayer
Perhaps this time we’ll get it straight
And all wind up at Heaven’s Gate !
Amazing word, how sweet it is
To love the Lord and to be His!
With all my strength I pray that He
Will never leave or forsake me
My sins forgive and love me true
There is no more I ask of You
And so this day I’ll ever keep
The promise made before I sleep,
And if it be I should not wake
I beg You Lord my soul please take !
Oh how I wish the world could know
Our God is everywhere we go
The air we breath, the sky of blue
The birds that fly and oceans too.
The wind that blows, the earth below
Fields that bloom and the trees that grow
The lakes and streams and rivers all
The valleys that do rise and fall,
Those creatures that dwell in the seas
And furnish food for all who please
This wond’rous world that fills our space
Reminds us all of God’s sweet grace !
I have traveled over mountains where the missionaries trod
As they brought to all the natives many messages from God
I have crossed the mighty rivers where they struggled for their lives
To ford the very waters in which the power of God survives
I have listened to the wind as it has played its mournful tune
And I thank the distant stars that we each share the sun and moon !
If I could have a magic wand
Or star that I might wish upon
To make your dearest dream come true
Or create memories for you
Then I would chalk myself a win
And thank my God with an amen.
For that is what a mother does
And all she is or ever was
No matter what their age may be
Each child is still her sweet baby !
I’ve dreamt about that garden where sweet Jesus took His last walk
And wished how I could have been there to witness His farewell talk !
Our world about is full of sin
What kind of mess are we all in
I’d like to know how we got here
Too many people live in fear
This is not by the Lord’s design
When He’s in charge all will be fine.
Recall the walls of Jericho
Or Sodom and Gomorra’s woe,
The lions will lie down with lamb
Do you remember Isaac’s ram ?
It’s time to get right on the track
We need to take our futures back
We’ll say our prayers and sip the cup
Oh please, dear God, let’s hurry up !
The mornings come, the mornings go
From dawn through dusk and starlight show
The world we know is dying fast
This future now may be our last
For who can say what will come next
A ferv’rent prayer or holy text ?
The seeing eyes of God above
And unrelenting force of love,
I beg Him here on bended knees
Repair the hole in my heart, please !
Does man get lost in hopes that are not fair
While ever wanting to seek paradise,
As trees lift up their arms to God in prayer
Are men then left alone to their device ?
Life has a vast divide existing there
To reach in darkness feeling no alarm
For man’s oft judged by trappings he may wear
And so has learnt how to evade this harm ?
But still in God’s lost idyllic garden
Where fragrant roses will forever bloom
Lie shadows of those soon forgotten
Not unlike whispers in a silent room !
I find myself so much confused
Insulted and at times amused
By all the trash that fills our world
With ignorance and anger hurled !
Can you hear all those words they shout
Do you know what they’re wild about,
To be fair do you have a thought
As to this web in which we’re caught ?
I’m saddened by what people think
And understand they’re on the brink,
I beg You God to help them all
Find peace while decency recall !
Oh what a place this nation is
Full of vim, vigor, pep and whiz,
Like bottles of rare bubbly wine
From grapes of joy grown on the vine
Transformed to champagne in our lives
Granting all goodness that revives
Ask that one Special Force above
To bless us with unending love !
I thank you God for life is kind
There always is some good to find
Though painful days will sadness bring
Together with our suffering.
Sometimes we rise beyond the past
To find the calm we dream may last
For life is more than stuff or things
It’s full of joyous happenings
It’s peace and love, laughter and song
God’s world in which we all belong !
Tears on my face are nothing more
Than wishes I have hungered for
Like dreams that vanish with the dawn
Before each morn is newly born
It’s time to find some other ways
To help me through these trying days !
We have been friends so many years
We’ve shared the range of joy and fears
We laughed a lot, we also cried
As family and pals have died.
We toughened up and made a choice
We chose to heed the calmer voice
For this scant time we each have left
Perchance to guard against its theft
As all that we’ve been wishing for
May help us reach God’s exit door !
The moment that I rise from bed
Old memories do fill my head
I am back home when I was small
And dad is whistling in the hall.
Mom’s hanging clothes upon the line
The wind is crisp, the day is fine
The children shreiking in the yard
Makes hearing conversation hard.
While Nana’s praying in her room
Pop’s sweeping sidewalks with his broom
The smell of onions fills the air
As dinner waits to be prepared.
My world gets smaller day by day
As those I love all pass away
And will to me this legacy
They bide with me in memory !
EXCUSE ME but that’s my song they’re playing ! This morning at 5:58 AM, I was astounded by a tasteful display of the Star Spangled Banner, a beautiful panorama of Martin Luther King Jr., a montage of war memorials in D.C. and a moment of silence. All of this on Fox Cable Network News TV as they commenced morning broadcasting. I almost jolted out of bed however people my age never jolt anywhere at anytime ! I sat, I rose, I appreciated ! Well now here am I sharing this experience with my world at large, no basket over this light ! It’s like a reveille call. I do not know if it qualifies, but I’m going to enjoy this show and thank the new incoming administration for reviving our waning patriotism ! Perhaps there is the hope that it is catching. I’d like to think that God is there
And hears our every thought and prayer
For He is privy to our dreams
A part of all our lifetime schemes.
I pray that He does not forget
We’ve all done things that we regret
And dare not hide our many faults
Although it’s He our heart exhalts.
But for our God what have we got
Forsaken goals and empty plot
Without His care and loving heart
No life on earth would have a start !
Goodbye’s a word I cannot bear
It means that you’re no longer there
I can’t believe that you have flown
And left me here, I’m on my own
How shall I know when all is lost
And who is left to pay the cost ?
The time has come, the clock’s run out
I’ve no strength left to cry or shout
Somehow I think there is no cure
The end is near of this I’m sure
God help me now to constant be
As I embrace eternity !
Oh how I wish that we could be
Like children once again born free
Beginning with good habits taught
And acts of kindness as we ought.
Let’s use our time to good deeds do
And mend our lives with loving glue
Teach able friends to heal the land
Love one another heart in hand !
My heart is true, my mind is fair
I know God’s love is ours to share
With simple tasks and friendly deeds
Kindness fulfills all of our needs.
The way is clear and straight ahead
His road to Paradise instead
Awaits us all who patient stand
In line to reach His promised land !
A gentle man was He who came
To save our lives and heal the lame
He brought us sight and gave us grace
To make this world a better place.
He taught us to be kind and fair
And all His blessings learn to share
But best of all, the larger scope
He brought to all the joy of hope !
My tears all tumble down I cannot halt their flow
I’ve tried so very hard they’ve nowhere else to go
I weep for the lost, the forgotten, broken, bruised
Those children who have been discarded or abused
Teardrops like summer rain keep getting in the way
How I wish I could find one tearless sunny day.
I see that times are hard for those upon the road
Though even in that past when God had shared the load
I’m sure He is still there along that rugged trail
All we can do is pray His efforts will not fail !
Seems I don’t know what will come next
I cannot read the hidden text
Some days I’m sure ’twill be my last
And others when the surge has passed.
I find it most confusing now
When shall I take my closing bow
It’s difficult to get a grip
There are no lessons, how to ship !
Well, God and me are on one page
Though surely not upon the stage
And when I make that final call
I’m ready for His curtain fall !
I love the spring I love the fall
I love God’s word above else all,
The mountains that do rise so high
With many that reach for the sky
The valleys that engender rain
The hills that stretch across the plain,
The oceans and the seas so deep
These are provisions we need keep
A sultry storm, the desert heat
Fields that produce the food we eat,
The forests that protect the home
Where creatures live and breed and roam
This is the world we can’t replace
God gifts to us our lives to grace,
Tis strange how oft we lose our way
Yet manage still to greet the day !
