I cannot halt to hear the sound
Of all God’s creatures shuffling round
The night’s so full of shadows stark
I feel the fear here in the dark
Each movement that I note betrays
The consequence of former days
I wait upon the Lord of Night
To lead me to the dawn’s daylight !
I hear a tune it croons to me
A half forgotten memory
The vestige of what used to be
When you and I were young and free.
The time’s long gone, it passed us by
Too late to query, wonder why
The heart remembers so do I
Tis the moment to bid goodbye.
The blessed Lord who guides our way
And taught us each from day to day
His wisdom reaches out to save
This lonely soul from empty grave !
Where is it that I find myself
I’ve wound-up here upon the shelf
As obsolete as one can be
Just waiting for eternity !
I see the mist of morning glide
Across the window pane outside
It’s frosty glaze has slipt away
To seek another hideaway
Her tiny pellets drift about
They look to scout some other route
I wonder what each journey finds
As through our lives the raindrops wind !
There is a spot close in between
The here and now and what has been
We take our place, we fall in line
And thank our stars we turn out fine
A tumble down, a caution there
A humble thought, an anxious prayer
I love you Lord, I always will
Until my heart at last is still !
The winds of March are queueing up
Before life brews its final cup
The tedium of time is here
Each destination looms unclear
Perhaps tomorrow each may learn
The heritage that we have earned ?
This earth is full of mirth and joy
That visits every girl and boy
Who’ve known about the treasures of
Our Lord’s unfettered vows of love.
We are His children who’ve been taught
To follow in the path He’s wrought
He won’t desert or leave us cold
We are included in His fold !
Live each day as if it were your last
Reminisce about those lifetimes past
And feel the warmth of love’s gentle kiss
Do not complain of the things you’ve missed.
Wish to all their impossible dream
Of unending love and joy supreme
Have trust in God follow in His way
Keep faith in your heart day after day !
The world today is lacking trust
We take our joys where e’er we must
The hours all seem to melt away
As do the weeks and everyday.
Time flies with wings so swift and fleet
As strangers stroll by on each street
With neither nod nor passing word
No single thought there to be heard.
This lonesome place within the mind
Where memories we’ve left behind
Too late do seek that compromise
Where all one’s dreams are realized !
The sun, it filters through the leaves
Its shadows bouncing off the eaves
Upon the rooftops round about
Seagulls and pigeons thawing out.
The frosty chill of early morn
Gives rise to wishes yet unborn
That men and nature be discreet
Learn how to share, reject defeat !
Why do we dream, what’s that about
And why is life so full of doubt,
I cannot question, God exists
My trust in Him ever persists !
This world is all there is to share
In time with love and hope and care
Though lives of men have limits set
We promise Lord we’ve no regret !
And so it is each day begins
We are all equal, no one wins
The wheels, they turn and turn again
But who’ll survive remember when ?
The moment comes then fades away
In all of this, who gets to stay
As life continues its short climb
Then faces change time after time ?
Though no one wins in this relay
Existence spans without delay
The days of man all numbered are
And no one ever gets too far !
There’s no time left, we’ve lost our way
We cannot fail, not one more day
As angels in the clouds above
Extend to all unending love
Our Lord on high is waiting there
He feels our pain and hears our prayer
For there is nothing He won’t know
The world forgets, this is His show !
From the plains of Jericho to el Alamein
Men have been fighting wars, their freedom to sustain
These battles never end, each climax moves more near
But with God’s help we learn there’s little left to fear !
There is a door, where does it go
The truth is that I do not know
There is a place beyond the stair
I do not care how it got there.
What is it looms behind that door
The one that all are searching for
How will I know what we will share
I have no fear, God will be there !
The lonely heart doth patient wait
For those who file past heaven’s gate
There is no cause to cry aloud
For who will hear in such a crowd.
The constant vigil all must wage
Before each earns space on life’s stage
The issue is just do your best
And pray that God supplies the rest !
There’s often a thought that I have had
That life’s not clearly all good or bad
And sometimes trauma gets in the way
Like visions we’ve had that go astray.
Tis foolish to think we’re of one mind
For this world consists of every kind
The short and tall or the lean and fat
Those who prefer either this or that,
Only time will tell where all this ends
We can be enemies or make friends !
Be still my heart, I hear your beat
And from my forehead to my feet
The numbness reaches to my toes
Tis strange the way this feeling grows.
At times my heart seems in my throat
I think that I could almost float
The fear it rises, comes and goes
When will this end, nobody knows.
But God’s here standing by my side
He holds my hand, He is my ride
I know that He is still my strength
However long be my lifes length !
A precious gift we each receive
Which all are anxious to believe
A God who’s there to see us through
In all the deeds that we shall do.
We thus are meant to comprehend
That life continues without end
So we must learn that day by day
There is a role that all will play.
Its parts are varied one by one
The task ahead begs to be done
To see each other as a friend
And pray for peace until the end !
Sometimes I find I cannot speak
My voice grows thin, my limbs are weak
The spirit wanes, my hope grows dim
All I can do is wait for Him !
We’ve already spent far too much time
With foolish dreams verging on sublime
Tis the moment now to change our ways
Reach out to seek more productive days
For the sand is slipping by too fast
Through an opening in life’s hour glass.
God’s bugle speaks with a mighty sound
It shakes the trees and rattles the ground
The tremors are felt around the world
As heaven’s power to earth is hurled
His day is coming, it’s close and near
Lift up your eyes, then listen to hear !
EXCUSE ME but Pinot Grigio and I shall have to postpone our nightly reunion for a few days as I am once again reluctantly detained on 4 North, guest at my favorite Hoboken University Medical Center A/K/A St. Mary’s ! And there I was, full of self congratulatory expressions that I had made it to Mother’s Day without having a stroke in 2017 ! Hence I’m writing to you from my bed in # 418, minus my wonderful view of the Park and the grounds of Our Lady of Grace to the north, as I am on the opposite side of this wing ! After MRIs, Cathscan, Ultrasound, et cetera, I have a positive attitude that I shall once again return to Rehab, hahaha ! Guess that my actual certificate of Graduation in 2016 ( on parchment ) is no longer valid ? The face of Hoboken certainly has changed these last few years, wonder what Frank would think of his hometown today ? Looking forward to posting this ASAP and marveling at the expediency of Wi-Fi . We all need to take a deep breath and another look to understand and appreciate the wonder of this new world in which we exist, and thank our Lord for His love and tolerance of our human faults. When you looked up into the sky
Did you ever once question why ?
The lights they twinkle in and out
At times you feel the need to shout,
“I see you now, oh shimmer bright,
Where do you rendez-vous tonite ?
The distant ceiling overhead
Is one enchanting shining spread.
How many can there be up there
A billion more with some to spare
Have you seen them on telescope
God sure knows how to raise our hope !
When I was young too long ago
There was so much I did not know
I learned that I might wonder why
We had to walk while birds could fly
Or why the stars were seen at night
And spent their daytime out of sight,
Or how the snow would fall all day
And by next morning melt away.
Some other things I’ve noticed too
This ageing of both me and you
Tis sad to say it never ends
I pray that we’ll remain fast friends !
Seems the Lord we love has made it clear
There’s no just cause left for us to fear
We must follow His law and believe
In all the blessings we may receive.
The commandments were written in stone
By His finger for Moses alone
And this is what we’ve been meant to learn
Before our tenderfoot wings are earned !
EXCUSE ME but that’s my song they’re playing ! This morning at 5:58 AM, I was astounded by a tasteful display of the Star Spangled Banner, a beautiful panorama of Martin Luther King Jr., a montage of war memorials in D.C. and a moment of silence. All of this on Fox Cable Network News TV as they commenced morning broadcasting. I almost jolted out of bed however people my age never jolt anywhere at anytime ! I sat, I rose, I appreciated ! Well now here am I sharing this experience with my world at large, no basket over this light ! It’s like a reveille call. I do not know if it qualifies, but I’m going to enjoy this show and thank the new incoming administration for reviving our waning patriotism ! Perhaps there is the hope that it is catching.
