I hear a voice so sweet and clear
A voice full of great warmth and cheer
Like notes that echo on the ear
A childlike sound that joyous rings
To tempt the mind with magic wings
Like songs the smallest angel sings !
I hear a voice so sweet and clear
A voice full of great warmth and cheer
Like notes that echo on the ear
A childlike sound that joyous rings
To tempt the mind with magic wings
Like songs the smallest angel sings !
The time is coming it’s almost here
As we wait to greet the brand new year
What kind of changes shall we then see
And what will that mean for you and me ?
Since I am old and remember when
We all believed He would come again
To reign on earth for a thousand years
And heal our wounds and allay our fears.
Then once was a time when faith was strong
And peoples from divers lands did throng
To worship Him in His holy place
And join Him there in eternal grace !
Oh how I wish that I could be
The Christmas star upon your tree
I’d cover me with sparkle dust
And shimmer in a style august !
I’d shine and twinkle through the night
And glimmer in the early light
I’d hear the wishes that you made
Before it was to bed you’d laid
I’d gift to you a world so sweet
Filled with pure joy and hope complete !
I look outside, what do I see
A darkened sky that threatens me
An empty street that’s void of life
No sign of commerce, trade or strife.
I’m grateful for my quiet space
Right now I need a resting place
When will all of this chaos end
I sure could use a real good friend !
There are those sounds heard in the fog
That to my mind do give a jog
Returning me to the high cliffs
O’erlooking down upon the ships
When youth did rule my growing years
As World War Two increased my fears.
I heard the buoys’ bells awake
Midst all the noises shipyards make
The fog was thick, the air intense
While all around signs of defense.
It was that time too many knew
When all our hopes seemed overdue
Though in the end our loss was great
Peace came at last and not too late !
Now who are we to judgement make
While this whole world does shake and quake
The time has come for all to see
The price of peace is never free !
I hear the sound of marching feet
The drums of war do loudly beat
The peal of bells does emanate
While throngs distressed paticipate.
I hear the sound of ramparts roar
There bides no glory in a war
Mass explosions and missiles flare
While cries of sorrow fill the air.
I hear the sound of shuffling feet
The muted call of last retreat
What good was all this killing for
I pray we go to war no more !
I look around, what do I see
A world debauched in infamy
My heart cries out, Lord help us all
Please save us from old Satan’s call.
The evil that occurs right here
Weighs heavy on eyes, mind and ear
Where is the strength we need to find
The courage to leave sin behind
Desert us not, dear gracious God
The path ahead seems really hard !
Sometimes the nights seem dark and cold
Shadows threaten both young and old
The winds do play beneath the eaves
They swoosh the ground and lift the leaves.
While in the heavens stars implode
Our world is waiting to explode
The signs are there for all to see
This is no secret mystery.
We can’t receive some magic pass
Like Alice through the Looking Glass
But rather face reality
Where God alone holds the brass key !
I have small fears I must confess
With smaller issues to redress
I’ve reached that time of laissez-faire
The world seems wrapt in dark despair,
But who am I, what can I do
Except to turn my heart to You.
From that high perch up in the sky
I beg our Lord this last reply
All judgement lies in Your domain
Pray let the response be humane !
I hear the angel choir as with clarity it rings
The sound of angel voices carries joy upon its wings
That promises to all a new tomorrow full of peace
As from this earthly plane the Lord does grant us our release !
A little bit of garden around the corner there
A little touch of heaven in early morning air
A highway in the sky for migrating birds to share
A pathway to the stars and a road to get you there.
If thoughts were things
And hearts had wings
Then you and I
Would learn to fly
Into God’s world
With hope unfurled
And spend our days
Singing His praise !
Love is the glue binding hearts together
Random acts of kindness are the tether.
EXCUSE ME, but sometimes the fragility of life brings us closer to our creator while estranging us from the cruel reality of life at hand ! I do not comprehend the recent reactions of our nation to currently impending real life tragedies. How the times have radically changed ! I fear that Lady Godiva would encounter absolutely no reaction if her infamous ride were reenacted today in New York or Washington, DC, although perhaps she would get a streamer on E linking her to a candy manufacturer which says a great deal about present worldwide educational standards and the professorial elect class !! Wow, another mouthful ! What has happened to the old adage, “to thine ownself be true” ? Why have we now distorted traditional ethics ? Wherefore hast integrity escaped us ? Is this the new Dark Ages ? Questions, questions, are we partner to appeasement ? What is the purpose of a disengaged world organization that spends trillions of dollars and claims climate change is the enemy ? Oh sad the stranger in the dark, but sadder still the soul that cannot recognise the Handwriting on the wall ! A man once said,” Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani ?” that is “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me ?” Do we have an answer ? Sincerely, Claire B.
There is small consolation here
Among the bones all crushed and sere
The dead are much like ground-up dust
They cease to be as we all must.
There are some things I’d like to mend
While there’s still time left to defend
Without a drummer or a fife,
The broken pieces of my life
So I may rest before I’m done
To face God’s challenge soon to come.
Our Lord has made His presence known
With every breeze the wind has blown
He is the air which we all breathe
And every tear or sigh we heave.
Be not afraid there in the dark
Though night may seem still, chill and stark
Be glad that you are not alone
Upon the cliff or rock and stone.
God wills each tree to stand or fall
He is the master of them all
Rest easy as your time draws near
God shares with all His love not fear !
The war for peace goes on and on
There is no winning, no gladsong
The globe is shrinking, smaller now
Yet none can win, they don’t know how !
These tears are mine, they will not cease
Here in God’s world, there is no peace !
I’ve never been to Samarkand
Or toured the cities cross that land
But I have stood beside the sea
Where Mary sojourned to Turkey
To make her home in Ephesus
After the death of dear Jesus.
So many tales that did unfold
In ancient Corinth’s city old
I stood upon the bema where
Paul called his followers to prayer.
I’ve wandered round the isle of Crete
Where Titus preached in every street,
I’ve been to Michael’s Mount in France
Where history is my romance
Perhaps one day I’ll get to see
The hill they call Gethsemane !
What power on this earth enslaves
Their people from each birth to graves,
What ancient curse now here exists
With strengths increased and still persists ?
Oh Lamb of God when will it cease
How long must we thirst for Your peace,
Though blind we are and bullied too
Our faith remains steadfast and true !
Seems I have walked too many miles
In search of friendship, happy smiles
I’ve traveled half this world and wide
To seek the truth that’s deep inside,
That kindness opens any door
And love abides forevermore.
I am this person old and gray
Who’s reaching out to you today
I beg you please to take my hand
I’ll lead you through God’s promised land.
The trees are tall, the flowers sweet
God’s goodness shines on every street
The weather’s neither hot nor cold
It takes forever to grow old.
There are no wars or pestilence
And folks possess good commom sense
What can this be, you ask of me
My dear, it’s God’s heredity !
I’ve loved the water all my life
The sounds of water soothe my strife
A river, stream or peaceful lake
Will always be my piece of cake.
The waterfalls take special place
They paste a smile upon my face
Seawater laps in quiet ways
And brings great peace into my days.
But best of all those waves that shout
And call my name invite me out
Oh what I’d give for just once more
To laze upon the ocean’s shore !
Oh blessed Lord I cannot bear
The madness of this world we share
Please help us through these times of need
To vanquish those who will not heed.
Grant us the strength to stand up tall
Declare our choice before the fall
His time is near, He’ll not be late
This world is all His vast estate.
Who are we, only passersby
And on His care we all rely
Please help us Lord to do our best
We know that You’ll perform the rest !
I smile because my heart can sing
So full it is of God’s blessing
I laugh because my day is sweet
The Lord does guard me from defeat.
I pray because my future’s bright
My faith keeps working day and night
I dream because I hope to be
Included in His ecstacy !
With ready smile and gladdened hand
We’ve wandered into friendship land
Let’s turn your frown into a grin
We need your heart to let us in !
