This earth is full of mirth and joy
That visits every girl and boy
Who’ve known about the treasures of
Our Lord’s unfettered vows of love.
We are His children who’ve been taught
To follow in the path He’s wrought
He won’t desert or leave us cold
We are included in His fold !
This dream of the young, our burden to bear
The weight of the pain, too heavy to share
As life comes and goes
The burden it shows.
The sadness we carry fades in dawn’s light
Like the leftover shadows of the night
Let’s pass the true test
And pray for the best !

The love I knew when I was small
With hugs and squeezes by the score
That was the best that I recall
Along with being kissed galore !
I never thought that as I grew
All those moments would stay with me
And add to all the joys I knew
To be my favorite memory.
It’s long ago, the times now past
I wonder where the years have flown
I’ve never found a love to last
Or one that I could call my own !
Oh how I wish our dreams might be
Converted to reality
Then we could ask for something more
And bring an end to ugly war.
There’s so much work we need to do
To help this fantasy come true
But first comes faith and our intent
With love of peace that’s honest meant !
There is a place that waits for each
So very far beyond our reach
This special place no cause impeach
Where heaven’s sky meets God’s great beach !
Sometimes the pain is so intense
I cannot aid my own defense
The only drug I wish to find
Is what’s propelling my own mind.
No complicated opioids
Nor any “cillins” or steroids
I’m so much stronger than that crap
Who needs to fall into the trap ?
There are some words we all should say,
“Please help us Lord get through this day
Grant us the strength to overcome
The evil that this world’s become!”
I’ve always known I was a child
Polite and kind, ne’er rude or wild
Perhaps that is the reason why
My passive nature gets me by.
I wish that I could gather strength
Pursue my dreams to greater length
What is it folks are fighting for
To curry favor, change decor ?
Now I have traveled very far
Across the seas, both ship and shore
My heart has weathered many storms
And travesties beyond the norm !
My curly hair that used to be
Has now begun deserting me
It is not washing down the drain
Just tired curling up again.
While fate has opened every door
To follow through or settle score
I wonder what may soon occur
And to what power I must defer ?
The hours too fast are speeding by
All clouded with both tears and sigh
Oh gracious Lord now hear my plea
My hope is to abide with Thee !
There was a time that’s now gone past
When we dreamt dreams that seemed to last
And compromise was but the thought
Of all the lessons we’d been taught.
When life meant more than recompense
And most espoused good common sense
Consideration was the key
To all of God’s humanity.
Alas for most this disappeared
Replaced by arrogance and fear
Is it too late to make amends
To garner strength and still be friends ?
Oh how I wish that I could be
A twinkling star that all can see
Far up above the world so high
Like God’s own beacon in the sky.
So like a dream as it appears
Full of our hopes and often fears
For God will not our futures make
Tis left for each to mold or break.
And only when the journey’s done
May we acclaim we’ve had our run
The problem is we oft forget
There’s no place left to sound regret !
There is great joy that words may bring
Words that can cause one’s heart to sing
Sweet words that need remembering
Like peace and calm and happening.
Those gifts conceived that cannot wait
Like ice cream cake on lacy plate
Or breakfasts that begin at eight
With maple pancakes tasting great.
Christmas stockings filled to the brim
When all our blessings are from Him
A helpful thought, a kindly deed
An effort sought for those in need !
The year is ending, tis soon o’er
We’ve left the cold and closed the door
Begin again with brand new start
To lift the caution from each heart
As all those moments we recall
Ere all the shades of night may fall
Among the times we shan’t regret
And those that haven’t happened yet !
An icy sleet covers the ground
There’s no safe footing to be found
The winter’s menu slowly grows
Extending to some heavy snows
Alas this season seems to be
Arriving inconveniently !
The sun hides now behind the clouds
The winds drift by in friendly crowds
The air is chill with not a thought
To all our issues as it ought.
Our innocence has gotten lost
Because of its ungodly cost
The world prefers to fall behind
Than work to some solution find !
An owl and a pussy cat fell in love
Whatever was it they were thinking of
Now how could it be that this mixed up pair
Decided they desired one life to share
In this crazy world how can all this be
The fulfillment of their true destiny ?

Seems like old age is sneaking up on me
Urging to make way for reality
And join the varied seasons passing by
As all the fragments of each year do fly.
With all my heart I wish that I could see
The times I loved that were our used to be
Too soon old memories we’ve kept must die
While most need learn how does one bid goodbye !
I wish I were a birthday cake on this special day
So I could say how glad I am You have passed my way
It seems awhile since You and I have been such good friends
I’m praying this continues and perhaps never ends !
There is a joy that springs anew
Each day the holidays are due
And now that Christmastime is here
It is the best of all this year.
I love remembering the sound
Of blessed music all around
With songs and voices ringing out
And children singing hymns devout.
The love of God and all our kin
Are blessings we can revel in
May all the years that lay ahead
Have sugar plums dance in our head !
My heartfelt thoughts are sped your way
To each of you alone today
I send you kindness with much love
And prayers for you to God above
Keep safe and grateful, don’t forget
The best of all is coming yet !
I’m walking alone on this long, long road
My soul is laden with a heavy load
The pace is labored but my aim intent
There are no excuses left to invent.
I have had a dream of these ups and downs
Some full of smiles and a few with deep frowns
It’s wisdom we need when courage abates
To give life a chance before it’s too late !

My every dream, my every fear
Tis sad that life is far too short
For all the wishes we have sought.

Get out your mufflers, gloves and boots
I feel today may be a hoot
Our world is white and freezing too
There is much we have left to do.
I wish that we might build a fort
With slabs of snow the way we ought
The way we did so long ago
When winter brought us all that snow
But times have changed and so have we
Let us move on to victory !
Lives are like the canvas all white and clear
That too soon begins to cloud up with fear
Add a hint of ochre as we all grow
With colors God paints into each rainbow
If circles or squares lapse into the breach
May they be beyond lost destinies reach.
As each canvas becomes part of the dream
Of what we’ve reached for or where we have been
Or the brushes get tired or weather worn
Take care we don’t all get tattered or torn !
The stars o’erhead that twinkle bright
Create the beauty of each night
They wink and blink so ever strong
Up there in space where they belong.
Around the planets large and small
They hurry, scurry, one and all
With millions more that we can’t see
One hundred billionth galaxy !

To all my friends and those I love
I don’t know what we’re thinking of
But I am guessing holidays
With thanks to God whom we all praise
For all the joys the season brings
And all the songs the angels sing !
It takes a lot to be prepared
For tragedies our lives may share
As life at best is difficult
Depending on each small result.
Sometimes the luck is on our side
And we complete each task with pride
Though there are days of no avail
When good intents are bound to fail
Let’s hope the latter are less few
We’ve greater goals left to pursue !
Well here we are, believing what
With all this detail we have got ?
There are too many who will say
There is no God, not here today.
I can’t recall who said it first
But I am sure their bubble’s burst.
Just look around what do you see
A world that needs God’s charity !
The earth it rumbles, the mountain quakes
The land around it shivers and shakes
The air is silent and seems intense
With no place left for one’s own defense.
The bells ring out, hear the warnings toll
The world now plays a dangerous role
While the lives of those who mill about
Are filled with fear and tremble with doubt
Pray nature’s fury spares all our lives
With God’s help His compassion survives !
There was a place that I loved best
Besides the sea, at water’s edge
So many hours that I spent there
All types of weather, foul or fair
I learned back then to patient be
Accept God’s will and wait to see.
Well that was then and this is now
I have survived life’s storms somehow
There’s this advice I offer you
To thine ownself be kind and true !
