Our men who died on foreign shore
Ne’er to be seen forever more
They sacrificed to keep us free
Gave us the gift of liberty
And we shall try to bring them home
From foreign shores ne’er more to roam !
Our men who died on foreign shore
Ne’er to be seen forever more
They sacrificed to keep us free
Gave us the gift of liberty
And we shall try to bring them home
From foreign shores ne’er more to roam !
The road is long, the journey’s hard
This path that winds its way to God
I am not sure if I’ve the strength
To carry on for its whole length.
But I shall try no matter what
I’ve pledged to give it all I’ve got
I love You Lord, both heart and mind
It is Your peace I hope to find !
The Lord of heaven can fill my heart
I’m just waiting for His reign to start !
Oh curly top, oh curly top
I wish that I could truly stop
The thoughts that roll around my head
About the moments aft we’re dead.
I’d like to think that we all sleep
Until the hour tis time to reap
The future that each one deserves
Depending on how well we’ve served.
I’m sure God loves us one and all
As we who answer to His call
There will be space for all who come
To share in love unburdensome !
The sky is clear, the air is calm
Our springtime thoughts are like a balm
All cozy soft, a tender touch
This reaching out or feeling much
The spring returns once winter’s passed
Not even frost forever lasts !
The sky is clear, the air is calm
Our springtime thoughts are like a balm
All cozy soft, a tender touch
This reaching out or feeling much
The spring returns once winter’s passed
Not even frost forever lasts !
Oh blessed Lord, please hear my plea
And whisk this pain away from me
To all of those who cannot cope
I beg you fill their hearts with hope,
And for the lost, please light the way
So they may seek a brighter day.
To those alone help them find peace
And from despair grant all release,
Come fill our souls with freedom’s ring
And to our God, His praises sing !
Now through it all, the thick and thin
You’ve always known to count me in
I stand with God, I always will
Until this heart of mine lies still !
There is a thought that comes to mind,
Beyond this place what shall I find
A world that’s known to God alone
Where all our sins have been atoned,
One path that leads to peace at last
Our worldliness is in the past
Here gentle lamb and lion lay
Close side by side, day after day !
Ler’s close the door and move on up
Tis time to taste another cup
We need to give peace one more try
And take a chance before goodbye.
Like all the options we have had
To choose between the good and bad
Let’s opt for dreams that might come true
And grant to all a better view
Of what God wants our lives to be
Full of both love and charity !
The shadows fall upon the eaves
To mingle in the evening breeze
The dwindling light now flickers slow
Soon tis the hour for light to go.
The sun is fading neath the hill
Before too long the wind is still
I hear a voice reach out to me
It’s searching for some sympathy.
The day’s been long and soon will end
The time has come to be with friends !
I’ve seen the ravages of time
And watched the world we know decline
Observed the truth just melt away
And begged our Lord to help us stay
As faithful as we all may be,
A part of His large family !
It seems that I am often caught
Among the ethics I have taught
The nuances we have displayed
Or values by which life is made
The causes that are pro or con
The themes we’ve based our lives upon
The book of rules that guides our choice
The feelings that command our voice
Our God is there to share it all
It is His final judgement call !
Along life’s road I lost my way
I’ve traveled far, I learned to pray
Twas there I found my greatest gift
The love of God to heal and lift.
I’m not alone and just like you
I’d like to see my dreams come true
While all the wishes I conceive
Are not the ones I may receive.
Whatever God decides it is
I’m sure I am forever His !
Oh sing a song and sing it loud
The words must rise above the crowd
Oh sing it strong, elucidate
Learn all the words, don’t hesitate
Let voices rise in chorus true
Sing “Hallelujah, Christ” to You !
The shadows drift down through the trees
And shimmer in the gentle breeze
The dried leaves crackle underfoot
The chimney’s belching smoke and soot
The nightfall moves in like a cat
With moments ripe to have a chat.
A chill is in the air it seems
Soon time for reverie and dreams
The quiet shifts into the past
I think the day now breathes its last !
There is a mystery I know
About our Lord who loves us so
He’s kind and true and loving too
A model of Christian virtue.
He oversees our daily lives
And for our freedom ever strives
Oh what I’d give to see His face
Gladly accepting His embrace.
But better still I want to be
A part of His vast company
And sit there waiting at His feet
Now this would make my life complete !
I cannot halt to hear the sound
Of all God’s creatures shuffling round
The night’s so full of shadows stark
I feel the fear here in the dark
Each movement that I note betrays
The consequence of former days
I wait upon the Lord of Night
To lead me to the dawn’s daylight !
The wind comes rustlng through the trees
And whistles wildly mongst the breeze
It echoes up and down the streets
Embracing everyone it meets
The cool night air is muscling in
Tis time to take it on the chin
The Ides of March will soon be here
Lets try to keep our options clear
The winter wind must fade away
Before the spring will come to play !
There is a spot close in between
The here and now and what has been
We take our place, we fall in line
And thank our stars we turn out fine
A tumble down, a caution there
A humble thought, an anxious prayer
I love you Lord, I always will
Until my heart at last is still !
Oh little one all meek and mild
My dearest, sweetest tiny child
With wonderment and joy and grace
You light the world round your dear face !
I’ll try my love, remember well
In times to come our story tell
And pray the Lord will gracious be
To guide us through eternity !
I’d like to think this world we know
Was full of sweetness years ago
To tell the truth, I’m not so sure
This place was kind or love so pure ?
But here am I waiting in line
I pray dear God I’ll turn out fine
And all those wishes that I’ve had
Well most of them won’t be so bad !
There was a land all thought was best
Throughout the world it aced each test
But arrogance got in the way
And ignorance ruled o’er the day.
Sometimes it pays to silence keep
Let others dig the hole that deep
Learn to be thankful, grateful too
Praise God, He will be there for you !
Well here I am alone at last
Safe from the power of times long past
Wherein my search I’ve tried my best
To comprehend what is the quest.
The answer softly doth resound
With all the love that each has found
And thus it is we seek respite
While gentle speaks the last goodnight !
My life’s reduced to little things
Like pleasant sounds of pigeon’s wings
The fluttering of window blinds
When misty rain and wind combines,
A fog that clouds my every thought
And questions all that I’ve been taught.
Seems nothing’s left to salve my heart
Before my journey gets a start !
There is a place beyond our dreams
Where life is peaceful so it seems
But nature never is at rest
It struggles long to keep abreast
We cannot claim we do not know
It follows all where ere we go.
The world itself can make no change
Without man’s aid to rearrange
The complications that we see
Placed there by inhumanity !
Oh how I wish our dreams might be
Converted to reality
Then we could ask for something more
And bring an end to ugly war.
There’s so much work we need to do
To help this fantasy come true
But first comes faith and our intent
With love of peace that’s honest meant !
