Blessed is He
Lord of the land
King of the sea
Desert and sand,
Both field and sky
All fish that swim
Creatures that fly
Are made by Him
Those at His call
Four-legged or two
Wide, short or tall
Purposed for you !
Blessed is He
Lord of the land
King of the sea
Desert and sand,
Both field and sky
All fish that swim
Creatures that fly
Are made by Him
Those at His call
Four-legged or two
Wide, short or tall
Purposed for you !
We seek Your path which is rough shod
And need Your help the way is hard
For all our sin we must atone
Our secret Lord we’re not alone !
There is a valley through which each must pass
Where all the minutes sift through God’s hour glass
The journey will be neither swift nor fast
As there is none to know how long twill last,
Make ready my soul, for the die’s been cast
This role that we play, both varied and vast !
We live in dark and dangerous days
Beware of those preaching foreign ways
Remain steadfast to God’s own commands
Avoid the teaching of new demands.
The day expected is soon to come
Keep hold of your faith with its wisdom
God speaks to us and we must adhere
For His judgement day is too soon near !
The raindrops fall upon the sill
The clouds are now at overfill
And moving in their passive way
The rains await another day.
The sky is full of sweet surprise
Beginning with each new sunrise
The stars all twinkle through the night
Some to be hidden from our sight.
The wind that powers every breeze
Silent ripples midst natures frieze
While sounds of life are vibrant still
They carry on and always will !
“THE EARTH ABIDETH FOREVER”
I wish, I wish that I could be
The fruit upon an olive tree
So good to eat and full of health
Both for the heart and greater wealth.
This tree can live a thousand years
Producing fruit and soothing fears
The Greeks and Romans knew its worth
Their fables told about its birth.
Seems God gave man the olive tree
In truly ancient history
Add this to all its virtues found
The olive’s wealth must all astound !
I’ve kept my faith a long, long time
Some days it is an awkward climb
I’ve learned a lot I do confess
Just being here is one huge test.
I know enough to hold my place
And dream one day I’ll see His face
Well it’s okay if I do not
As long as I am not forgot !
There is no anger that I feel
No sense of needing to conceal
I find no fault in those I know
For they like me have far to go
Each finds their place in life’s vast plan
Respecting all for God and man.
Remember now the ancient phrase
About our lives and all our days
And so twill be that we shall learn
That what we sow is what we’ll earn !
There is this book we all know well
That has so many tales to tell
It’s been around thousands of years
Chock full of joy, promises, tears
They’ve not forgot one single thing
Bout love and lust of prince or king.
It speaks of fear, hate, jealousy
And those who can’t or will not see
Of wisemen, prophets, soldiers too
With visions of our dreams come truth
Life history since time’s begun
There’s nothing new under our sun !
As I look out o’er rooftops drear
I sense a world so full of fear
A world succumbing to a crowd
That knows too little, speaks too loud.
The truth at best now gone astray
Leaves nothing left for one to say
Of all the answers to perceive
Pledge to our God to still believe !
In the silence before the dawn
I stop to think why I was born
God does not mean for us to fall
We are all His, fat, thin, short, tall
Be sure to know that He is there
With love enough for all to share !
I hear the bells this Sunday morn
They ring aloud their glory song
How grand it is to hear the sound
Their voices raised in faith profound !
The dark descends upon my soul
I query if I’ve met my goal
I cannot know until the end
If I have been both foe and friend.
For in my passion I have found
At times we all may run aground
I never meant to lose my way
And I have nothing more to say,
Except that God is always there
In peace or war or bleak despair
And pray His grace be with us all
If we survive or if we fall !
I’ve learned to live from day to day
Perform my task and pay my way
To stand up for what’s right not wrong
And teach my heart how to be strong.
I’d like to be a child of peace
And pray world chaos soon would cease
However I know that can’t be
Until our Lord deigns we are free !
Now this has been a journey long
From birth to death, one’s telltale song
As we have been upon life’s road
Each burdened by our heavy load.
It matters not what we have thought
There in this net all have been caught
And so it is that we shall be
A cog in God’s eternity !
I’ve often thought that life would be
A picnic ‘neath an apple tree
Or cottage with white picket fence
Set in a garden filled with scents
Perhaps a seaside path that winds
Along some beach the seaweed finds.
That used to be the way I thought
Until my vision soon got caught
Into the lessons life may teach
All we perceive before we reach
That space in time when truth revealed
There’s too much left that is concealed !
Hang on to your wishes whatever they are
For a life without dreams will never go far !
There are no words one chance may say
That work to melt the pain away
True, words are meant to help us cope
Once truth has gone, there’s only hope.
Perhaps hope stretches with each smile
And keeps one safe a little while
Perhaps a prayer, perhaps a few
Will garner strength to follow through.
Keep dreaming of God’s charity
Whate’er we need, it’s there, it’s free !
I know the price, I’ve played the game
We are no two born quite the same
Except for twins identical
Though that’s not always typical
For God has made each one of us
A member of His own chorus.
With heart and soul we try to sing
Both words and tune remembering
That in the end the difference
Is oh, so small and makes no sense
For we are His, spirit and mind
All shapes and sizes you can find !
Let’s sing a song of joyous praise
And to the Lord our voices raise
Let’s cheer Him from the citadel
And to the world His glory tell
Let’s fly His banner in the sky
And aim to keep His love close by
Let’s build a pathway to the stars
And pray His truth’s forever ours !
I wish I knew that you and I
Would never have to say goodbye
And that our friendship would live on
Until the day we both are gone.
How foolish since that cannot be
For we both share mortality
And so old friend we must prepare
When you and I no longer share !
There is this fact that I have known
We are each born to life alone
When our time comes to say goodbye
We’re solitary as we die
We travel on that lonely path
With all the power that we hath
For life with Him is fairer still
And all we are is by His will !
To all God’s children far and wide
I’ve known the fear that looms inside
Tis difficult, the younger years
That harbor pain, defeat or tears.
Sometimes it seems a miracle
If you should ever make it through
Remember always keep your stride
And live with dignity and pride.
Be kind to those whom you pass by
Give none cause to be hurt or cry
Try your best, pray, you will be heard
So praise the Lord and keep His word !
We need to thank our Lord above
For sharing His eternal love
We cannot say what we should do
If God on high doth bid adieu.
This world we know would disappear
And all we love might pale in fear
Oh dearest Lord forsake us not
Without Your care we are forgot !
A child am I, quite innocent
My feelings clear, my heart content
One thing I’ve learned within my mind
Towards love and peace I am inclined.
I’ve seen the damage hate can do
I fear for those with anger too
The ways of God, simple and kind
Are all I ask and wish to find !
Long have I thought, to be quite clear
This world I’ve loved and held so dear
Should harbor you forever now
But will that be alright somehow ?
As Satan’s angels and their crew
Do all their devil work pursue
Seem to have won this dirty war
Destroying all worth living for.
I pray for those I’ve left behind
That peace one day is what they’ll find
Our God does not forsake us all
But heeds each plea if we just call!
The time is here, the time is now
We knew that it might come somehow
Last night deep frost did show its face
Now most new green has been erased.
I see the limbs of all the trees
Succumbing to the crippling freeze
That yesterday were chock full of
The thrill of spring and signs of love.
The blossoms filled each branch and twig
At times enhanced by petal’d wig
What shall be left when frost has gone
And damaged growth must carry on ?
