Sometimes I think that I might fly
Up to the moon and touch the sky
What would I find once I got there
A cold cold place with thin thin air !
Now that’s not such a happy thought
Imagine all those chills I’d caught
Perhaps I’d settle for a spin
Above this space that I live in
And snuggle up to some warm fire
Until this cold spell does expire !
My heart would pace a million miles
To catch one glimpse of your sweet smiles
And wait for days upon a line
To learn that you were doing fine !
I miss you still and always will
Like all the plans we can’t fulfill
Until the sun deserts the sky
The moon and I bid sweet goodbye !
God’s angels who abide on high
All sing His praise to passersby
His works are so miraculous
To share His love is glorious !
How marvelous for us to be
A part of His community
Let’s join again our voices raised
Accept His love and be amazed !
I try to keep myself quite occupied
And free from traits of vanity and pride
Preferring to embrace those simple joys
Of loving kindness, happiness and poise !
For in my life this is what I have found
Tis best to keep one’s feet upon the ground
Forsake the envy hiding in each heart
And grateful thank the Lord for His new start !
I’d love to be a child once more
And welcome daddy at the door
To laugh and smile and play some game
Or hear my mother call my name !
We’d spend an evening by the fire
Reading chapters meant to inspire
Our hearts to learn the proper ways
To love our Lord and render praise !
I cannot wait till winter’s done
These bones of mine are not much fun
They grind and groan and mostly ache
Sometimes I think they will just break !
When I was young and in my prime
I’d bend and stretch and dance and climb
But that was very long ago
Before my age began to show !
Take this advice from one so old
When youth has flown and love grown cold
Remember God is there for you
With warmth and love He’ll see you through !
It is foolish for a bird on the wing
To look for a reason for him to sing
While a wolf on the prowl seeking a kill
Silently hunts on a crest of the hill.
For these are God’s creatures without a cause
What is it they know that lends them no pause ?
I wish that I had the faith that they do
To know that God’s there forever like glue !
the moon is there for all to see
yet toils in obscurity
there was a time it wasn’t so
all those in love would seek its glow
to ask the goddess of the night
to answer dreams with softened light
i know the times i’ve done the same
with no one near i’d call her name
though full or half or hidden be
she’s always there to comfort me

Most days I find my morning sings
My heart grows bold and sprouts new wings
I fly so high into the sky
I brush the clouds while passing by !
Sometimes I think I hear the sound
Of feathers drifting to the ground
And I am sure angels are there
To do God’s work with love and care !
They are His messengers we’re told
I guess they must be really old,
I do not mean to give offence
I comprehend they’re God’s defense !
Oh Lamb of God so full of grace
I wish I could have seen your face
In shining light or dark of night
I’m sure it was a brilliant sight !
Old men who leaned upon their crutch
The widowed who had suffered much
The crippled old, completely blind,
They flocked to Him to solace find !
While those whose spirits went astray
Came to hear what He had to say
A godlike man with message clear
God loves us all, allay your fear !
I love you Lord, you’re stuck with me
And from your love I shall not flee
You are my hope and faith and dreams
And everything that’s good it seems !
You’re never far away from me
You are my strength, my charity
My voice, my thoughts and all I know
Are yours alone where e’er I go !
Early in the morning before the day begins
I say a little prayer, today the good guy wins
I hope that God will hear and grant my simple wish
That faith will conquer all and pain will not exist.
But as I lie abed awaiting breakfast call
I realise too soon there is no help at all
Our paths are set in stone like those in Galilee
And we must make that choice if we are to be free !
You’ve been my love since you were small
I’ve watched you grow to be quite tall
I’ve followed all your childhood dreams
Though some were silly now it seems.
But as you grew along the way
You didn’t hesitate to say
The thoughts you held close to your heart
I sensed that you were kind and smart.
The time has proved I was not wrong
You’ve turned out good and wise and strong
How glad am I that you and me
Are part of the same family !
At times I wonder why it’s so
The ones we love must come and go
But ever live within our hearts
We miss them all as each departs.
I understand the reason why
The pain of loss gives cause to cry
Remaining still devout with care
Although they are no longer there.
Somehow we learn to be quite strong
To keep our tears where they belong
And paste a smile upon our face
Remembering that last embrace !
Have you heard the angels sing
Their voices bear angelic ring
I know their choir is ultrafine
The chills run up and down my spine
I wish that I might join their ranks
So I could share my grateful thanks !
My nana was my special friend
She taught me how to sew and mend
To make my bed and hang my clothes
To fold my undies and my hose
We talked sometimes into the night
She made my problems turn out right
And helped me overcome my fears,
Oh she’s been gone these many years.
I wish that she could see me now
To know I made it through somehow
I want to thank her from my heart
She gave my life it’s special start !
I left my heart high upon an ancient hill
Oerlooking wide and glist’ning portals of the past
Envisioned splendor though dead yet lingers still
As dreams that fade and hopes that could not last
There azure waves danced mildly on a white and sandy shore
Where echoes of a memory long to be heard forevermore !
Then as I gazed upon those fortresses of old
I trembled with the glory that once had been
Both proud and grand whilst steeped in purpose bold
Sad victim of time’s ravages then unforeseen
There scented breeze played softly through her waning twilight hours
Where shadows of desire lie dormant midst the fading flowers !
Sometimes when life seems turned around
I sense all that we’ve lost and found
Our longing for the loss is great
But finding God has sealed our fate
There is this hope discovery brings
While gaining faith that joyful rings !
Oh for the life that is no more
When hearts were young and kept no score
When all we knew was how to be
Afraid of abject poverty !
Our lives were so much simpler then
When girls were gals and guys were men
When unisex was still unknown
And being high meant airborne flown !
Songs had real words and melody
And marriage knew God’s sanctity
I wish we could turn back the clock
Oh what I’d give to join that flock !
for those of us who never rest
and feel the world upon their chest
these are the words i say each night
before i hold my pillow tight
i ask my God for those to bless
to keep them safe and make redress
then one by one i say their name
forgive all things there is no blame
and last of all i bid adieu
to all my faults both old and new
i love you mom
I’d like to think that we were friends
But that’s not where the story ends
We shared great times along the way
The path was straight, we did not stray.
When we were young each fell in love
What was it we were dreaming of
Our hearts were true and pure somehow
But things are not so simple now !
That golden hair has turned to white
With little will left here to fight
Mementos that we meant to keep
Got lost in some discarded heap,
The times long gone of used to be
Our friendship found eternity !
I thought that I might want to be
A songbird perched upon a tree
There hidden deep among the leaves
While chirping songs into the breeze !
The notes would carry through the air
Impressing those who sojourned there
Perhaps they will return once more
To witness a new bird encore !
Awake the joy this hope will be
And join our Lord in harmony !
I wish I were an hour glass
That holds the precious sand of time
Then I’d control the way days pass
And that would be my wish sublime !
I’d find a way to slow the sand
So time cannot just slip away
And it will seem alright and grand
For us to share this one last day !
The graying cloud of morning mist
Sweeps over one like angels kissed
With dewdrops wet and breeze caressed,
The body seems by calm possessed !
The still of dawn is best of all
To seek the charm of nature’s call
And learn to listen to the voice
That echoes sounds of each one’s choice !
It is to God we owe our vow
To heed His words both then and now !
It suddenly occurred to me
God’s outreach plan is truly free
Since angels do not charge a fee
While caring for humanity !
Those memories that flood my mind
Are treasures love has left behind
To warm the space of waning hours
Where time does fade amongst the flowers !
They are more clear then e’er before
And to my heart, my faith restore
There is so much that has been lost
I’ve never stopped to count the cost !
But what I know has brought me peace
Because my hopes will never cease
My faith in God does grow and grow
As in my life His blessings flow !
I simply refuse to allow
Your dark mood to overshadow
My bright and happy day for now !
I know that God exists
His will and power persists
I want to be kept near
And promise to adhere.
I truly am His child
Obliging meek and mild
I hold no other view
And am forever true !
