I thank You God for being there
You are my strength and loving care
In all the years that I have known
You have not failed, I’m not alone.
It is my wish to rest with You
After my life on earth is through
I know that there is room for me
I do not fear eternity !
Of all the dreams I’ve ever dreamt
And all the wishes I have spent
Together with my best intent
Will this one be life’s last event ?
When I was but a child of three
I napped upon my mother’s knee
The time that I was turning five
Her stories made me feel alive
And as I reached the age of ten
She turned into my one best friend !
All through the years she held my hand
And showed me that life could be grand
When I arrived at sweet sixteen
She taught me how to be a queen !
Now I am old, I’ve lost my way
I wish I knew what she would say
I’d put myself into her place
If only I could see her face !
There are so many ways to say
Good Morning World, have a great day
Remember always to be kind
Never leave good manners behind.
Too often we are quite remiss
And bid farewell without a kiss
Or slam a door on the way out
With hurried gesture or a shout !
Please stop and think before you go
What kind of love is it you show
Can it be like care God gives you
Unselfish, fair both just and true ?
I’m guessing this is not the case
There are issues need be embraced
Solutions we are praying for
With caring hearts and open door !
When I was but a little girl
Each word I learned was like a pearl
Infused with wisdom I would learn
Throughout my life and in my turn.
The words were short and to the point
Have faith in truth don’t disappoint
Trust in the Lord with all your soul
And keep your eye upon the goal !
Now that was very long ago
Things haven’t changed that much you know
Sometimes I wish I weren’t grown
And that my seeds had not all flown
But this is true I can’t deny
God rules my life since I’m knee high !
A lonely man with head cast down
I saw him pass with puzzled frown
His shoulders hunched his step was slow
It seems he had nowhere to go.
I wonder what can be his grief
His burden’s great without relief
How weak the old appear to be
Bowed down by our society.
Perhaps if I could make a wish
That with God’s help their pains vanish
I’d pray so hard that they might be
Allowed to keep their dignity !
As I see how my life is spent
My prayers rise up, they’re heaven-bent
I speak to God from day to day
And beg Him please to light my way.
Perhaps to lead me by the hand
One day into the Promised Land
These lofty thoughts give rise to fear
What happens if He does not hear ?
I’ll do my best to carry on
He is my hope when all is gone
No matter what, I love Him still
He is my heart, my soul, my will !
My humble heart
Craves a new start
My God heals all
He hears my call.
His grateful child
I’m meek and mild
I stand and wait
At His front gate.
I need to know
He loves me so
I will be here
When He is near !
We’ve lost a man who knew the way
To help the public every day
So smart and kind and honest too
A man of honor tried and true.
He had the courage to speak out
Without the need to rant and shout
He was well loved with great esteem
Perhaps he’s gone to join God’s team !
Among those many tales I tell
The ones I love and do most well
Are those that are of all God’s works
To show us genius and its perks.
There is no beauty here on earth
That does not owe Him for its birth
His mind has wrought each fragile bit
He made the plan and pieces fit !
I will not tire of God’s true bliss
With Him it’s never hit or miss
He’ll always win and lead the way
Believe, this world is here to stay!
There was a child born long ago
In time He grew to be a man
He had great qualities you know
He’d help in any way one can.
He never travelled very far
His life was poor and simple then
He rode a donkey not a car
He healed the sick and preached to men.
He turned the water into wine
And spoke to thousands by the sea
He hoped that they would stand in line
To follow Him and baptized be.
His death was truly quite a sight
The trial before the Sadducees,
When on that hill it turned to night
Fulfilling all the prophecies.
He did not live to be so old
He even spent some time in Hell
And to this day His story’s told
His name is called Immanuel !
The muffled sounds rise from the street
Loud voices raised midst running feet
Mankind has truly lost its way
How shall the children learn to play ?
What kind of anger fills the air
What would you do if you were there ?
There is a God who sees all clearly
Time is come we shall pay dearly
The truth of all it makes no sense
Trust in God’s law our last defense !
The willow weeps the nightshades fall
The evening breezes softly call
From faraway a bird takes flight
And flies aloft into the night !
My heart is full it overflows
My eyes tear up the sadness grows,
I wish I knew which path to tred
My errant star glows overhead !
But who am I to make complaint
My soul is lost and lacks restraint
What e’er I do will be okay
For God alone does guide my way !
It is foolish for a bird on the wing
To look for a reason for him to sing
While a wolf on the prowl seeking a kill
Silently hunts on a crest of the hill.
For these are God’s creatures without a cause
What is it they know that lends them no pause ?
I wish that I had the faith that they do
To know that God’s there forever like glue !
Most days I find my morning sings
My heart grows bold and sprouts new wings
I fly so high into the sky
I brush the clouds while passing by !
Sometimes I think I hear the sound
Of feathers drifting to the ground
And I am sure angels are there
To do God’s work with love and care !
They are His messengers we’re told
I guess they must be really old,
I do not mean to give offence
I comprehend they’re God’s defense !
I wait here for the toll of the chimes
That signal welcome to latter times
And the days that we’ve been dreaming of
With much thought of peace and hope and love.
What must we do to earn this pleasure
Step by step and measure by measure
Remember to keep the Written Word
Learn to avoid the evils you’ve heard !
Perform the deeds that you know as just
To earn God’s love and eternal trust
Be slow to anger, answer with thought
Forsake not the morals you’ve been taught !
I hear the hands upon the clock
They tick away, tick-tock, tick-tock
The minutes and the seconds pass
So quickly there beyond the glass !
The days and hours do swiftly fly
While in our lives time passes by
I cannot recognize the sound
As human clocks spin round and round !
I’m not quite sure this is okay
How shall we make it through each day ?
A morning thought to start my day
I wish I knew a better way
To show how grateful I can be
Because my God created me !
I’m thankful for the food I eat
The kindly words from all I greet
For sun and warmth and evening rains
Those elements that life sustains.
The pleasant days and sad ones too
With joys and laughs and chores to do
It cannot always be a lark
Sometimes it’s cloudy and it’s dark,
But there is one thing that I know
The Lord’s with me where’er I go !
A lifetime promise I shall keep
To speak with God before I sleep
This vow I took when I was small
The reason now I don’t recall !
It had to do with truth and lies
Seeming foolish and being wise
I can’t be false while pledging true
I’m partial to red, white and blue !
About me here I spy the face
Of many that have earned disgrace
They have small faith in who we are
And won’t enhance our rising star !
I do recall when I was young
How proud we were and prayers we sung
To thank the Lord up in the sky
While watching that bright banner fly !
We pledged our trust to God and man
Assuring all with voice and hand
We will not fail or fall behind
Our actions would be just and kind !
And so it was these many years
We have survived through trials and tears
Seems now that we have reached an end
Our flag reviled and without friend !
In the quiet of the room
Angels whisper in the gloom
Do not worry we are there
We shan’t leave you in despair.
God is here and with you now
He remembers all somehow
Child of God just close your eyes
It is time to say goodbyes.
Do not grieve this is the best
Time to seek that final rest
You are not lost or forlorn
The morrow brings your new morn !
The remnants of my former styles
Surround me here in glaring piles
Why can’t I just discard the mess
I really tried I must confess !
Possessions are more earthly stuff
By now you’d think I’d had enough
But somewhere in the distant past
I’m sure it helped the memories last.
The time has come without delay
To clean the house, pack ghosts away
Face life head on, emotions tossed
Reach out for God ere all is lost !
We do not know what our lifetimes may hold
We can only wish that it’s courage bold
For that is what we all need to receive
If we have dreams that our hopes won’t achieve.
We have wandered lost and lonely too long
In a world void of peace, laughter or song
The problem appears we can’t find our way
And need God’s guidance to help save the day !
A child of God I chose to be
When I was but the age of three
My nana took me by the hand
To enter God’s great wonderland.
We sang the hymns that I loved best
The years have proved we stood the test
Her faith was strong, I took her cue
I followed God and I still do !
Come dance with us, small lonely child
And meet our Lord who’s meek and mild.
Each morning turn your face to God
With thank you for the gentle prod
That stirs one to believe again
In miracles like sun and rain !
Just search about perhaps you’ll find
A thousand reasons to remind
Us all to sing a joyful song
For in His world we all belong.
We’ll join our hands in grateful prayer
And sing and dance because He’s there !
I am not lost, I’m not alone
For God has touched each rock and stone
And walks upon this earth so fair
He fills the sky, He is the air.
None but the angels know and see
Such beauty and infinity
It’s left to us to seek and find
His path in life though we are blind !
It’s not the passion but it is the love
That lifts the hearts seeking to rise above
The pulse and the fray of everyday stress
That tatters our dreams, our spirits depress.
I’d like to know how to set things aright
To parry with foes attacking the light
Granting respect for each other instead
Helping another to share our life’s bread.
This is the way that good folk need to be
If they hope that freedom will remain free,
Peace is the reason we’ve chosen to care
Love is the gift we must learn how to share !
Who can describe the way to go
The route to take, the path to know
The more I try the more I find
That day by day I grow more blind.
I need the hope I will be saved
That road ahead with patience paved
And rest stops set along the way
To ease the leap of that last day !
