How softly falls the gentle rain
That trickles down the window pane
Reminding us that spring is due
Before the Lenten days are through.
As Easter wears her coat of green
And early buds burst on the scene
The trees prepare for all the guests
Who’ll need to gussy up their nests.
Oh what a joy for us to bear
With such great memories to share
As spring returns again this year
To spread its happiness and cheer !
Today is such a lovely day
So full of Spring in every way
My mind is clear, the air has bounce
I need embrace it every ounce !
The buds are blooming everywhere
Their fragrance permeates the air
Oh what a joy our God does bring
To each of us with newborn spring !
I’ve spent the morning in the park
And watched the shadows growing dark
Quite soon the rains will shower down
And all the clouds will sport a frown.
The birds above will share a bath
While toads and frogs hop in the path
The rain will seep into the ground
To soak the seeds that it has found.
A simple truth we can’t deny
That we are only passing by
We need the rain to help us see
Our world bathed in complexity !
The morning sun begins to shine
O’er sloping roofs with steep incline
As seagulls flown out to the sea
Do swoop and pluck their breakfast free.
An early breeze bears frosted breath
The remnants of past winter’s death
How grand it is expecting spring
To feel so good with God’s blessing !
The rain is falling to the ground
It’s drip, drip, dripping all around
I watch the branches of the trees
Blowing gently with each new breeze
There is a sweet smell in the air
Flowering cherry, oh so fair.
The outer limbs sway fore and aft
Crowding blossoms upon each shaft
Millions of petals, what a sight
Precious flowers in pink or white !
The winds of March are on the wane
O’ershadowed by young April’s rain
The clouded skies loom ominus
While springtime clouds crowd over us.
A hint of blossoms fills the air
Oh how I wish that I were there
When lilac blooms begin to show
There is no place I’d rather go !
I see God’s colors clearly, crisp blue of winter sky
The umber of the dried leaves as they go flashing by
Cool gray of all the clouds as they circumvent up high
And in the sleeping gardens, dull green of plants that die.
The colors are quite somber, I wish they were alive
Suppose I’ll have to wait for the springtime to arrive
I can barely bide the time till the brightness will revive
As I make this silent wish that I shall be alive !
The smell of springtime permeates the air
That promises our weather will be fair
I cannot wait to see the lilies grow
With yellow daffodils tall in a row.
Soon all the crocus blooms are fled away
Daisies are preparing for their long stay
How marvelous to know with every spring
This place becomes a world of blossoming !
Oh magic wand, where have you gone
We need your help to carry on
The weatherman decrees more snow
Where did your special powers go ?
How long is it we’ll have to wait
For spring to enter our front gate,
Oh springtime sprite you’re overdue
Do you need help to make it through ?
Dear snowfairy, it’s time to fly
We beg of you, please say goodbye !
There are loud footsteps in the street
The frantic sound of running feet
Where are they going ever fast
What am I missing as they pass ?
There is some music I can hear
Midst growing din, hurrah and cheer
I’m sure I hear the bagpipes play
Can it be so it’s Saint Pat’s Day ?
Oh what a joy that fact will bring
A few days more until the spring !
The early hours are best of all
The air is crisp and full of fall
The wind is brisk it knows its way
The lower branches bend and sway.
Seems all the birds are southward bent
Where warmer breezes have been sent
We’ll have to wait until next year
For summertime to reappear !
The air is crisp, the wind is chill
The sun comes shining o’er the hill
The smell of green is ever sweet
The dewy grass enfolds the feet.
Can it be true, is this the spring
Slow to commence its latest fling,
Rushing to greet its worldly fame
Hoping to save its tarnished name ?
Great flocks of seagulls fill the sky
My heart now hopes that spring is nigh
Oh, what a marvelous surprise
A blessed sight for worn out eyes !
