Too soon the journey ends my friend
And leaves us much that can’t unbend
To make way for His finest blend
Of all the bliss God’s pleased to send !
Too soon the journey ends my friend
And leaves us much that can’t unbend
To make way for His finest blend
Of all the bliss God’s pleased to send !
Mocking bird, mocking bird sing me a song
Keep me amused through this afternoon long
Oh sweetest of sounds, please show me the rest
Sing me those melodies I love the best !
My heart flies high when I espy
A rainbow shimmer in the sky
Or when a robin sings his song
It helps me smile the whole day long.
I love the humming of the bees
As they meander round the eaves
I won’t desert this joy I feel
Because I’m sure that God is real !
There is a sound that stirs the breeze
And seems to lift the fallen leaves
Out of the path of morning dew
As every day begins anew.
The sky it lightens in the east
Appearing as some great grey beast
Tis time soon for the sun to rise
And flush the stardust from our eyes !
Have you heard the bells on Christmas Day
When the old familiar carols play
Their sounds all echoing on the air
How I’ve wished that we could all be there.
Let the music and voices be raised
To our God on high singing His praise
Though those we love may be far away
Please send them our love this Christmas Day !
Oh how I wish that I might be
The brightest star upon the tree
And with the words of every hymn
Sing praises loud adoring Him
In sight of God and man today
To spread my wings and fly away !
I was a girl not long ago
Life whizzes by before you know
Today I’ve found I’m getting old
And really suffer from the cold !
My sight’s okay, bit fuzzy now
I see myself as the last bough
And at this stage I truly need
A hint of love, a little heed !
How quickly do the days fly by
Sometimes there is a need to cry,
Or pause the clock to take a break
There’s just too much of life at stake !
There is a light from up above
That glows with God’s unending love
And smiles upon we here below
Who daily dream and pray and grow.
It emanates from moon and stars
From sun to sun clear out to Mars
And finally as life’s end nears
We are all forced to face our fears.
That special light moves within reach
Of principles our Lord did teach
Stretch out to grab that blessed light
And clutch it close til last goodnight !
For those of you who came to stay
And others who just went away
Some traveled far and wandered wide
And searched in vain the other side
But friends remember golden days
And cover them with sugar glaze !
AMEN.
Oh blessed Lord, come live with me
Invade my heart eternally
Help me to keep my life in line
And with your aid, I will be fine.
Oh Lord God, hear my simple plea
There is no place I’d rather be
Than safe with You each day to rise
Forever more in Paradise !
Sometimes I waken in the night
To find there’s no one else in sight
And I am torn to ponder why
The bright lit stars desert the sky
Or why the valleys lose their glow
When meteors do fail to show !
Instead we face a blackened sky
Unveiled before our darkened eye
To note the lonliness we feel
And pray that it is most unreal ?
Sometimes the words get in the way
Of all those thoughts we have to say
Like all the angels in the skies
Whose wings do bid us sweet goodbyes
Or shutters closed ‘gainst bitter cold
Burst open for each sunshine’s role
Like evening prayer before we sleep
Filled with our promises to keep
Our lives in order, should He come
Before the rising of the sun !
There is a numbness I can feel
Somehow I think it can’t be real
It just won’t leave, try as I may
However long do feelings stay ?
I’ve often thought how sad it is
To figure out what’s mine, what’s his
This world was not born yesterday
Nor will its strength fade fast away
But lingers long upon the mind
To seek the answer we need find.
Among those stars in distant sky
There bides a path that each must ply
And as the trail now waxes old
Before its impetus grows cold
Let’s bind our fears and make new friends
Learn how the final story ends !
The wheels of justice do turn round and round
Until the pendulum of life has found
All of the many strengths that each displays
In the intensity of God’s clear gaze.
He is not fooled by acts of ignorance
In order to achieve one’s recompense
Our God who reigns above is wise and fair
Rewarding all who care enough to share !
One day you’re here and then you’re gone
While every other soul moves on
The time’s arrived when you are done
Tis soon an end to all begun.
There really is no second chance
Except for that last parting glance
So soak it up, the final perk
Tighten your belt and get to work !
Thank you, dear Lord for the strength and the will
To keep hope alive when the option’s nil
When the journey’s o’er and our lives are done
We’ll sing Your praise with each Angelus rung !
The skeletons of life parade
Across the doorway of the mind
Where most decisions have been made
And chances, good and bad do wind.
The time is now, let us declare
The love of God is on our side
Before we channel, let’s beware
This cannot be a foolish ride !
My life moves on, I’m still alive
And plan to think, react and thrive
I’m no fading bud on the vine
Nor am I some sweet valentine !
What e’er I am, there’s no mistake
I’m flexible, I will not break
The power in me comes from my God
Whose taught me this, real life is hard !
It’s been awhile since you’ve been gone
I find it hard to carry on
My days are long, the hours unwind
To seek the peace I cannot find.
A part of me has lost its way
The rest seems to have gone astray
I heard those last words that you said
They are imbedded in my head
O’er every word, I’ve cried and cried
My son, for you, I would have died !
So many words are ever sweet
And rest in bundles at my feet
Syllables echoed on my ear
The sound of which I yearn to hear.
I do enjoy the accolades
Of ages past, forgotten days,
When men of words would have their sway
And you and I might nod “hooray”
For those of old much braver be
To speak for human dignity !
The sound of early morning cheer
Weighs lightly on my waiting ear
There is such comfort I receive
From faith in God whom I believe
And all the birds that sing along
Are part of every morning song
I love You Lord, what joy You bring
You are the Best of Everything !
There are some memories I keep
That intrude on my deepest sleep
They form a wall seems made of stone
That forces me to walk alone.
Tis not what keeps me up at night,
In hours twixt darkness and the light
Which is the time I fear the most
When lonliness turns into host.
Oh for the chance once more to be
A child of faith at Jesus’ knee
Forgive me Lord, all of my sin
Hear me dear God and let me in !
I look around, what do I spy
The naked limbs of barren trees
With leaves in piles about sky-high,
Leftover ice from last night’s freeze,
Snapshots of early morning find
Still crusted on the window’s ledge
A lacy pattern left behind
By remnants of the autumn sedge.
The winter has its own brigades
An army of invading knaves
Of frost and snow and ice cascades
That from the bitter cold here saves !
There is a heart beats in my breast
Reminding me that I am blest
I’m sure that God is always there
He holds the answer to each prayer.
His comfort is my one desire
It’s His love sets my heart afire
I’m far too old to question why
But I know God’s my bestest Guy !
I hear the raindrops dancing on my roof
The pitter-patter sound they make is proof
That even passing raindrops sing-along
To note that God and man, they too belong !
Let’s say a prayer, come Christmas Day
For all those children far away
Who’ve lived in need and know no peace
Where joys and dreaming are deceased.
They’ve never lived without the tears
That generate both hate and fears
Whose existence finds ’tis bereft
By times of war, years of neglect.
Oh helpless child who does not know
The gifts of God, Who loves us so !
Oh Lamb of God, what shall I do
With open heart, I come to You
The hour is late, the night is old
My pains increase as time grows cold.
I long for sleep, the morning nears
I need Your help to stem my tears
And wonder if my faith will last
Despite this spate of winter’s blast ?
I beg You God to bide with me
Through thick and thin, eternally
I pledge my word for those who care
That with Your love we learn to share !
