The morning dew collects upon the petals of the rose
The leaves that fall into the stream drift as the water flows
The breeze that greets the newborn morn may whisper ever sweet
As birdlings in their parents nest await their early treat.
I’d like to think that men are bold and to their faith keep true
It might just be my fondest dream it would be me and you
The dearest hope I can conceive is one which makes Him glad
These must be joys that God does love and will not make Him sad.
How easily snow can disguise
The ugliness before our eyes
And change the bleak facade of day
Into God’s wonderous display !
I thought one day I would be old
I knew sometimes I’d feel the cold
I never thought I’d be alone
With no one here to call my own
Though all of this is now the fact
I have survived with faith intact.
The constant loss I could not bear
Would be the absence of all prayer
But if I cannot speak a word
I have no doubt my thoughts are heard !
I believe each man approaches faith by life’s crooked path
A victim of passion, disillusion, anger or wrath
When all else is exhausted and his time seems to run out
He turns to God his heart full of pain, his mind full of doubt.
And there in the starkness of a life devoid of some aim
He discovers the truth as he calls on God’s holy name.
Soon the path becomes straight and he will recapture his life
Learning to live with His love instead of chaos or strife.
May you find joyous peace
May The Lord bless your life
May your troubles decrease
As you parry with strife.
May the hand of the Lord
Heal the ache in your heart
And with loving accord
Give your life a new start.
True, Christ was not born on Christmas Day
In that foreign land so far away,
You must believe all that He has done
He’s the long expected blessed One.
It matters not what the details are
Or how long ago or just how far
For dates are fallible and unsure
It’s what will be that’s truth to endure
Rejoice for any date He will come
Our salvation and God’s only Son !
What obstacle is there for me
To serve my God for thought is free ?
I need not wave my flag on high
For enemies of God to spy.
They learn enough from day to day
And shadow those who grateful pray,
They hope to turn us from our faith
And bend us to the devils wraith.
I will not bend or turn or twist
Release me from this traitors list !
Dear God above take hold my hand
I wander aimless through this land
I do not know how we will fare
Where shall we go, who will be there ?
The lessons that my life has taught
And dreams I’ve dreamt have come to nought.
The world seems caught in some sad plight
Shall we survive through this bleak night ?
Stretch out Your hand to guide us there
We need Your love and help and care.
I wish you love and hope and joy galore
And add to that good health and wealth and more
I pray you are an asset in your life
Example set for husband, child or wife
And furthermore to seek and find that space
In which your faith and deeds will carve a place
Of honor and respect and happiness
There with your God to treasure and possess !
The church bells rang so sharp and clear
Sweet peal of music on the ear
Echoed nightly from the steeple
Calling all the faithful people
To worship with the Christmas child
Who blissful sleeps in manner mild.
His arms reach out to woo them in
Help rid us all of vice and sin
This simple babe brings worldly peace
And from our grief grants us release.
Where is our help, where is our care
What should we do if God’s not there ?
We’ll slog along with a full pack
Upon the breadth of our own back.
We’ll carry on as though He were
We’ll keep our faith and hope in stir
He will not fail that cannot be
God is with us eternally !
Oh blessed Lord, please hold my hand
As I traverse this barren land
The peace I need no longer here
Replaced by doubt and dread and fear
I know not what my heart will do
I won’t feel safe till I’m with You !
I love you Lord, this much I know
I’m thankful for the trees that grow
The flowers that will all spring forth
As winter winds escape due north,
The raucous clouds that bring us rain
To help implode great fields of grain
And snow that melts into the stream
Where schools of fish will spawn and teem.
I’m grateful for the air that sings
And carries life upon its wings
The gull, the dove, the sparrow small
Belong to God as do we all !
The time has come the book is read
We will not scurry to our bed
For all our dreams will fade and die
In that brief space we bid goodbye.
The earthly stores we hid away
Will come to nought on that last day
Our lives were meant to end in grace
As we now know it’s God we face.
It will be, Â Lord what it will be
An homage to our victory
For words we’ve said and deeds we’ve done
There in dark night and light of sun.
Man is not one of patient soul
He searches for his selfish goal
And lusting for uneven chance
He will indulge the devils dance.
He’ll shift and lie and pounce and weave
Before he scurries off to leave
He has no weight and is not true
There is no faith in what he’ll do !
Hence we must wait until he’s spent
To ponder where our freedoms went
It will take time to garner strength
To help retrieve our lives at length
But we shall win have no small doubt
God is our Hero most devout !
Thank you Lord for another day
The wind is cool the sky is gray
But if we wait a little while
The morning sun begins to smile.
Such joy to wake this way each morn
Why should I feel lost or forlorn ?
My heart is full my mind is clear
My love of God defeats my fear
I am so glad that I can see
God’s gracious care that comforts me !
Beseech the Lord, He’s always there
Lift up your voice to Him in prayer
And raise your arms to call His name
Beg Him help save the halt and lame.
Grant us the strength to see this through
Roll back black clouds from skies of blue
Reach out a hand which we may clasp
Or garments edge that we can grasp.
Lord with each breath we’ll ask today
For aid to carry us away
Upon the winds in God’s command
We’ll follow Him air, sea and land.
Oh brisk November, cold and chill
Baring all of bleak winters ill
Your days are short while nights are long
The winds too brash, the currents strong.
The message that’s delivered here
Now echoes clearly on the ear
No matter what your stay may bring
God guarantees each newborn spring.
I’ve thought a lot about romance
And pondered if a second chance
Might be of value at some stage
Who has the time at this ripe age ?
The faithful love that does endure
Is one which is both kind and sure
Within this sphere that we may share
The love of God for whom we care !
It seems to me as our frantic life moves on
There’s one book of wisdom we can lean upon !
Her gentle smile, Â her charm and grace
Her tender ways, her sweet, sweet face
She’s left us with her last embrace
And gone to find God’s holy place.
I do not wish to live in fear
I cannot see the sense
I’d will the terror disappear
Such thoughts are too intense.
I do believe God would agree
I’ll speak for the defense
His love will keep us safe and free
We are His innocents.
Is there some place that we may hide
With God to keep us calm inside
Free from the fear of aging pace
Another trial or pain to face,
Or distant battle to be fought
Within this web in which we’re caught ?
We’d like to think there is an end
In which both fear and hope will mend
To keep us whole and safe from harm
There in the crook of God’s vast arm !
The springtime gales that fill the sails of vessels out at sea
And bring the rain that nourishes the farmlands that is free,
Summer winds that fill the air with odors of faint perfume
The breath of ocean breezes blowing cross a sunlit room,
How wild the call of autumn rolls complete with heavy scents
Of chimneys belching forth the smoke from warm hearthfires intense
The winter storm that carries Mother Natures ice cold sleet
Staccato sounds ring all around like heavy crunching feet,
These are the gifts that God has wrought to bring us happiness
And to our lives has added all the blessings we possess.
We thank you God and go our way believing that we’ll earn
Our daily bread, our prayers are said awaiting our new turn.
I wonder now if I was ever meant
To find lifes happiness and be content
Somehow the stars on high lost sight of me
Neglecting to secure my destiny.
While on my own I tried and failed alas
Each way I turned I met a wall of glass
I never gave up trying though I knew
It was so hard no matter what I’d do,Â
Until I found the Master of my fate
Who taught me that it never is too late.

I walked about in my garden today
Speaking with plants in my casual way
Trimming the leaves and hand picking the weeds
Cutting dried pods and collecting the seeds.
I tried to converse with positive means
Praising their growth and the length of the beans.
I respect nature, I’m careful with words
Fondly addressing the vocal wild birds,
I make sure they get appropriate treats
Would I do less for broccoli and beets ?
I do have a secret I must confess
I think may add to my gardens success.
Leftover coffee with all of the grind
Mix with water in a pail of some kind
And ladled with love to sprinkle the rest
Has helped me to make my garden the best.
As a small child I stared in awe
At all the beauty that I saw
As each morn spread her fairy wings
Enchanting all with magic things.
Sunrise bled melting rainbows high
Wild colored spectrums in the sky
I’d spot the pictures in the cloud
Some here and there I’d name aloud.
When I was young and in my teens
I’d spied about a thousand scenes
The world was in an awful way
I knew because the skies turned gray.
Sometimes the clouds came rushing past
Above my head with visions vast
Then as the day approached its close
Sunsets glowed purples, plums and rose.
The brilliance faded all away
As night moved in to end the day
I’ve wondered where the color went
When after all the days were spent.
I miss the beauty that we had
It disappeared and left me sad
Today the sky is dull and bleak
And there’s an answer that I seek
Some lesson here that can be taught
Do skies reflect Gods precious  thought ?
When as a child I was taught to pray
In a simple plain and childlike way
I said my prayers as small children do
With loving heart and a fear or two.
I searched for God nearly every day,
“Teach me the words that I ought to say”
And settled for just a chosen few
That ended with “you know I love you !”
