The lonesome whistle of the train
Keeps singing to my tired brain
The trip is long and nears its end
I’m ever weary, oh my friend
And what if we should never die
How could we then embrace goodbye ?
The lonesome whistle of the train
Keeps singing to my tired brain
The trip is long and nears its end
I’m ever weary, oh my friend
And what if we should never die
How could we then embrace goodbye ?
I have walked along a lonely path that leads I know not where
And found myself adrift upon a deserted thoroughfare
I have wandered in the empty fields abandoned by the flock
And trudged the way where bales of hay were stored for the winter’s stock
Now here I am alone at last close to my true destiny
And all I’ve learned and thought about is a mystery to me !
My advice to you my darling friend
Is take time to dream before the end
Do it now ere you have fully grown
It curries magic you have not known
Supplying cushions to fall upon
As life turns into a marathon !
The night has not been kind to me
I cannot wait till dawn I see
The darkness seems to o’erpower me
I feel my faith and courage flee.
The demons charge my aching heart
I need to seek a brand new start
One I may join and take some part
To help the gloom and fear depart.
Today I hope to try once more
I’ll gather strength for my encore
I’ll pick myself up off the floor
I’ll try to open that last door !
