Have you observed how eagles fly
Into the reaches of the sky,
This symbol of our history
Proud emblem of our dignity ?
They move across celestial space
Embued with God’s unflinching grace
We’re told that eagles mate for life
I still can’t tell which is the wife !
Their eyesight is invincible
Two miles away and they can tell
How wonderful that eagles thrive
Please God, let’s keep them all alive !
I saw an owl perched in a tree
He meant to hide himself from me
He seemed so quiet, somber, wise
I was not fooled by his disguise.
Oh mister owl you cannot sing
What message is it that you bring
You turn your head and blink your eyes
You will not win a beauty prize.
It is your wisdom that we seek
But who can learn, you do not speak
This wizened omen of the day
He turned his head and flew away !
There is a bit of keen advice that I would give you all
That as you travel through your life try to avoid the toll
Of those so full of avarice who wish to be a friend
Take care because their interest sometimes is but pretend !
