It matters not where you are from
The lower class or high income,
The price has always been the same
A sense of honor, your good name !
Respect for elders, kindly deeds
Concern for others and their needs
The fact that truth is scoring high
Why would another tell a lie ?
If words are all that one has got
What else is there if one is not ?
Tis sad to note that common man
Has more to hide than less to plan
God knows us all and what we do
No secrets here, not me, not you!
Oh how I wish I could return to when
I was that innocent young thing again
A time of dreaming and a time of trust
When truth was important and faith a must.
Each path we took had a positive end
We knew the value of a longtime friend
Our nature bade us to follow the rules
Not to venture along the path of fools
That time’s now long gone and all that is left
Are shattered dreams and regrettable theft !
