There is no way I’ll ever see
The budding days of infancy
Or travel in the path of ways
That haunted all my childhood days.
My youth was spiced with sacrifice
The age was cruel, not often nice
Its road was long I met defeat
But managed to land on my feet !
Alone that journey was too hard
That’s when I turned my face to God
He held my hand all through the years
He owns my life both smiles and tears,
I’ve no regrets left to remain
If I don’t pass this way again !
The angels who abide above
Our guardians of peace and love
Wise messengers who keep the watch
They check the list and make a notch.
They are the voices in our ear
And thoughts that wing us happy cheer
I do not think they’re all the same
Who knows if each one has a name.
Do angels come in girl and boy
I’d like to learn what they enjoy
The angels sing they save the day
I pray they never go away !
The pain’s intense, I can barely breathe
It is too strange what we each believe,
While discipline has been my guide
I’ve kept God’s word close by my side.
It helps me face the hurt with calm
And aids me to reduce alarm
I truly beg the ache will cease
That I may find some blessed peace !
There are these rifts along the way
With highs and lows that cause delay
But as I read His Holy Book
I know that I’ve not been forsook !
I’ve wandered in this distant place
And seen the fear that strangers face
I wondered how the human race
Could live and work midst such disgrace !
I can’t accept that they should be
Lost victims of indignity
To bear all this with family
And have no exit strategy !
Instead of blasting music loud
And sidewalk lounging in a crowd
Strive hard to make your children proud
Reach out to God, your faith avowed !
The demons that we cannot see
They’re our immortal enemy
They own the stage it is their act
I wish we’d get our mojo back !
But we must walk on tippy-toes
Because these devils are our foes
They’re bound to keep us on the fence
God is our help and true defense !
I hear the cries they fill the air
The world is bleeding everywhere
I beg our God to still the sound
This world is dying all around
Oh Lord above please hear our plea
And save us from catastrophe !
The cradle clings unto the branch
This cannot be pure happenstance
But is the work of stronger hands
T’will bring about the Master’s plans !
Tis strange that we who have no worth
Bethink ourselves the salt of earth
While dung we are in our pursuit
Of evil gain and heartless loot !
The children who inherit this
Denied the blessings of kindness
Are the lost sheep now gone astray
Who need God’s help to find their way !
The day was warm, the air was sweet
Clouds seemed to waltz on tip toe feet
The waters rippled in the streams
With motions wrapt in eager schemes !
Somewhere apart the world rejoiced
With hope the need for peace was voiced
What victory may we expect,
Will it take long or be direct ?
How much more time must we await,
When is our expiration date ?
We do not know, of this I’m sure
But beg of God help speed the cure !
It’s true, joy comes in every size
As part of life in which surprise
Makes our existence so worthwhile
And merits us with loving smile.
We’ve known a few with lives quite sad
To hear them laugh makes us feel glad
It takes scarce more to bring them care
With us to work and help and share !
Oh little child, what have you known
Of loss and pain that is not shown
With all the chaos that you feel
How will you sense just what is real ?
Misfortune’s child wih life amiss
What happenings will you dismiss,
What patience can your nature find
To keep you safe and warm and kind ?
It must be stark to live each day
When no one’s there to guard your way
How can you bide in this bleak space
And keep God’s peace upon your face ?
The winds of change blow loud and clear
The sound incites a world in fear
Where shall we search for safety’s sake
How can we heal the pain and ache ?
Is this part of the coming age
Have we now turned another page,
Are we to find we have become
The wart upon old Satan’s thumb ?
Tis true to think we mean no harm
Except to echo this alarm
To save our faith, our way of life
From evil’s ill and anger’s strife !
There in the past, the story grows
It lives the lie that sorrow knows
And carries on it’s tattered wings
The futile hope that dreaming brings.
Where did the thoughts of yesterday
Get left behind or go astray ?
How did we lose our earthly core
Or fail to reach for sky once more ?
It seems to me, we cannot know
How far and deep that loss will go
I need you Lord, to purge my soul
And help me please, maintain my goal !
Here in the deepest reaches of my mind
I treasure all the happiness I find
The chaos of this world about me flies
Encouraging a weakness faith denies.
While each new day must make me stronger now
The battle looms ahead that won’t allow
My trembling hands to fumble as I play
Instead I’ll clasp them tighter as I pray.
The Lord will guide me in this need I’m sure
To help me find one goal that is secure
Direct my hands to forge a brand new start
And bless me with His kind and loving heart.
The winter winds blow fierce and wild
The branches heaped the snow is piled
The air is brisk and cold and chill
It numbs the mind and bends the will.
Oh winter wind of strong repute
Tower of strength one can’t dispute
For God to you has power given
To freeze the very air of heav’n.
We beg you now to use your gift
To help us heal and change and lift.
I heard the prayers said on Christmas Day
From the bloody wars a world away
As they echoed loudly through the hall
Upon my heart fell a heavy pall
That felt like a weight I could not lift
I know peace is an elusive gift !
Somehow all my tears refuse to cease
From war and death there seems no release.
So I begged God for a helping hand
To cleanse this lost and forgotten land
And I shall wait for my answer clear
Pray it won’t take forever to hear !
Who is the faithful Father gentle, kind and true
Knowing all that you need and what is good for you
Pushing at your core but never quite too far
Helping you discover exactly who you are ?
You realise the truth that you are not alone
To lift the weight from your heart, heavy as a stone
Is there another reason you may have a doubt
The time to query faith and what it’s all about ?
You may accept this answer longer than today
Believe, God comforts you all through each night and day !
This heart of mine has run its race
But finds there is a lot more space
To gather in those left outside
Who’ve lost their way, their hope, their pride.
They need some help to reinvent
The manner days and lives are spent
While we who’ve tred this path before
Have learned to knock upon the door
That opens wide to Gods true way
To teach, to help, to thank, to pray !
Beseech the Lord, He’s always there
Lift up your voice to Him in prayer
And raise your arms to call His name
Beg Him help save the halt and lame.
Grant us the strength to see this through
Roll back black clouds from skies of blue
Reach out a hand which we may clasp
Or garments edge that we can grasp.
Lord with each breath we’ll ask today
For aid to carry us away
Upon the winds in God’s command
We’ll follow Him air, sea and land.
There are times when hours seem to fly
And those when minutes just crawl by
Hours, minutes, seconds building days
To give us time to mend our ways.
Our lips must whisper a fervent prayer
Our hearts must echo its plaintive air
The mist must cover the nights delay
The winds must carry our breath away
We need give life one more chance to find
Some lasting peace that won’t cloud our mind
It matters not where the blame must fall
Remember God helps forgive us all !
We’re asking God to help us find
A safer path to peace of mind
Not just for us but all mankind
Disperse the clouds that rend us blind
And forge our faith and will to bind
Our hearts to deeds both wise and kind.
When life’s journey is ending it’s a task too hard
And time to place your burden in the care of God
Praying for the help to lift the cumbersome load
Too much for one person on life’s ultimate road.
So raise your glass high in this last toast as you leave
Say your farewells with truth that we need to believe !
This world’s in chaos, panic lurking everywhere
Compelled to seek an exit safe into somewhere
Seeking hospice for the mind and burdened souls
To find relief for those lost and forgotten goals.
Will there be a pause in time to heal broken rules
For us to learn to save ourselves from mindless fools?
The cure we lack is knowledge of our history
Not understanding what has been or what can be
And so we mask what won’t afford to be revealed
Hence none will query why the truth must be concealed,
Since in this endless questing for reality
We’ve lost the godlike purpose of our destiny.
