The dragon slips its outer skin
To hide the evil that’s within
And joins the legions of God’s good

The world we know is changing fast
The hopes we held can never last
Our dreams now seem far out of reach
No lessons left for us to teach.
How sad it is that we are lost
How great will be the final cost
What warning signals did we miss
Remember ignorance is bliss !

The sky is clear the sun so bright
A welcome change and sheer delight
The wind caresses all the trees
There’s salted breath upon the leaves
The water washes on the shores
The river hums the ocean roars.
Think back to times long gone away
When stalwart ships entered the bay
Folks came with baggage sparse and lean
Unknowing what the trip would mean
To greet this new world of their dreams
This foreign land where freedom gleam’d.
For most it was a great success
Each garnered something to possess
Those lessons learned seem long forgot
Replaced by greed and unctuous rot
Our government the gross suspect
Has changed our land by forced neglect !

A gentle thought tugs at my mind
Where is the peace we’re meant to find
Where is the joy life promises
With love for all the reward is ?
Who makes the rules and carries out
The consequence of fear or doubt
Who rends the earth or tears apart
A mountain top or broken heart ?
While all of this continues on
Is there a force to wish upon
Perhaps a dream we’ll never see
Or paradise that cannot be ?

Shall we sally our forces into the great unknown
Where the agony courses thru man’s malice alone
What causes this strange madness in a sensible mind
Is there help for the sadness some solution to find ?
We have lost our way at last seems there is no winning
Simply take heed of the past restart the beginning !
