We do not know what our lifetimes may hold
We can only wish that it’s courage bold
For that is what we all need to receive
If we have dreams that our hopes won’t achieve.
We have wandered lost and lonely too long
In a world void of peace, laughter or song
The problem appears we can’t find our way
And need God’s guidance to help save the day !
There in the past, the story grows
It lives the lie that sorrow knows
And carries on it’s tattered wings
The futile hope that dreaming brings.
Where did the thoughts of yesterday
Get left behind or go astray ?
How did we lose our earthly core
Or fail to reach for sky once more ?
It seems to me, we cannot know
How far and deep that loss will go
I need you Lord, to purge my soul
And help me please, maintain my goal !
Out of the depths of darkness old
The sound of voices harsh and cold
Do echo through the silent night
Reminding one of freedoms plight
Like loneliness the runner finds
Along a road that winds and winds.
Dear God above take hold my hand
I wander aimless through this land
I do not know how we will fare
Where shall we go, who will be there ?
The lessons that my life has taught
And dreams I’ve dreamt have come to nought.
The world seems caught in some sad plight
Shall we survive through this bleak night ?
Stretch out Your hand to guide us there
We need Your love and help and care.
There are times when hours seem to fly
And those when minutes just crawl by
Hours, minutes, seconds building days
To give us time to mend our ways.
This is the autumn of my days,
A pressing time to mend my ways,
There are past wounds that I must bind,
There are new goals I need to find,
There are old fears that I must end,
There are new paths that I must wend,
There is adventure that I must dare,
There are some hopes that I must share,
There is courage which I must seek,
There are bold thoughts that I must speak,
There are values that I need learn,
There are laurels which I must earn.
