The day grows short as twilight nears
Increasing all impending fears
The darkness moves in closer now
Casting its shadow cross the brow
Welcome to night time one and all
We’re making ready for the call
That detours each along the way
Before our lives just melt away !
I here the ticking of the clock
It speaks to me, “tick-tock, tick-tock”
The time is slow, for time is vast
As lives slip by, all image passed.
I see the pictures on each wall
The times we lost I’ve seen them all
How sad that we too soon grow old
And leave the safety of the fold !
Love cannot be life’s everything
It’s faith and hope and blossoming
It’s dreams and plans and mystery
Our spring and fall, our destiny !
It is the total of the scene
On this huge stage that’s in-between
Our days of nascence and demise
That learn to live with compromise !
