So many children do not play
So many dreams have gone astray
While many values have been trashed
Too many idols now are bashed.
We live in times too tough to bear
There seems no kindness left to share
Our world is dying bit by bit
And everyone is part of it.
Dark clouds are gathering above
Obscuring all our acts of love
Hold on, hold on, the die is cast
Let’s welcome the iconoclast !
One cannot know just how I feel
About a war that was so real
There is no way I will forget
All those sad days that haunt me yet
And sometimes when I’m in sleep land
The visions seem too close at hand.
I pray to God we’ll never know
The ugliness that from wars flow
Quite often when I’m at my ease
I beg of God, end all wars please !
When we have passed beyond the bounds of our utmost limits
that is where strength begins
When we have survived beyond the scope of our endurance
that is where patience wins
These unknown gods that rule the fickle winds of all our
private destinies and aims
Observe and mark the shallow depth of all the lessons life
has taught as knowledge tames
And thus it is that though we see each side is shaded by
the cult of our own thought
That leaves with us some bold reflection of days that are
within our memory caught.
