The sadness of this life I see
Is absence of one thing that’s free
No matter where it is I’m at
The world about is sad and flat.
Those faces that are all around
Are full of darkness or a frown
The answer’s simple and worthwhile
How lovely if they’d share a smile !
As I look out o’er rooftops drear
I sense a world so full of fear
A world succumbing to a crowd
That knows too little, speaks too loud.
The truth at best now gone astray
Leaves nothing left for one to say
Of all the answers to perceive
Pledge to our God to still believe !
Who can know what a man of honor will do
To safekeep his home and save his freedom too
With many a battle in the past that’s fought
As the price of our nation was dearly bought.
For more than two hundred years we did survive
Our values and principles still quite alive
But beware of those who now put us to test
With evil intent to destroy all our best.
Let’s return to the way that we used to be
The home of the brave and the land of the free !
Each morn I wake to great surprise
It’s not yet time for my demise
Another day, another chance
To take a shot at life’s last dance.
Oh how much fun t’would be to see
What each new day may bring to me
Of course now it is far too late
To entertain some change in fate.
I ponder what is yet in store
And pray that it is so much more
Than just the weeks and months ahead
But joy and hope and love instead !
